Hoya bella care and propagation

  • Hailing from the tropical rainforests of Southeast asia, the hoya bella is a beautiful uncommon hoya that is heavily replicated in plastic plants. Its a misunderstood, but easy hoya to care for. It is considered “rare” here, but also easily attainable if you searched for it. In this video I share the care tips, and also propagate this hoya both in water and in soil propagation, with updates a month later to show you how many plants I end up with!

Mine does not smell of honey more like a lovely perfume Suttle Jasmin.
Mine has flowered constantly for over 1 1/2 year with several blooms at the time often over 10.
She is my absolute favorite of them all. She delivers beauty for the nose and eyes

Hello, could you tell shortly in which conditions you grow your hoya bella? I had many, many ones in the last ten years but they all decline at one point and I don't know why. There are also a lot of confusing, contradictory informations (more/less watering, soil, etc.) that it has been hard for me to rely on informations. I would be glad if you could tell me, thank you in advance if you do so.

I bought my Bella on March. She had many broken stems so I propagate them in water in a western window. Then on May I put them in soil and I transfer the new plant outside on a northern Balkone. This one thrives, she becomes a little bit of morning sunlight and she blooms continually. The one that is inside suffers.. i live in Athens, Greece by the way. And we had for the past two weeks 46 Celsius degrees. No prob for Bella. Still blooming and growing

Dear Sean, thanks for the advice, my hoya bella is blooming right now , she is growing in Lechusa Pon in a self watering planter , under a cheap Amazon grow light on a shelf in my small NYC apartment, definitely the most baffling element in growing houseplants is the light!

My Bella hangs in western window. Non-stop bloomer 🤩 just got some freezing time in winter when I forgot to close (partially opened) window when there was -20C outside 😂 she was totally fine to hang near partially opened window when there was -5-0C degrees outside and 18-20C degrees inside. I didn't provide extra light for winter time. She is thriving 😊

I had four small cuttings and put them in a nursery pot and placed it into a zip lock bag until it rooted. I let it grow for a few months but then it was attacked by spider mites. 😪 Thanks cold, dry Canadian winter. It took awhile but I got rid of them, and poor Bella lost some leaves. My daughter gave me a hanging pot so I put it in my southwest window and Bella grew and grew. Then It started making a peduncle and now it has five more coming! We haven't had as many sunny days as usual so I really don't know what triggered the plant to bloom. I think it just likes hanging with its buddies, the string of pearls and the string of hearts. 😆

❤️❤️❤️Hm I propagate some in perlite half died off. The other barely rooted. That could due to the fact I was using plastic container which is almost semi transparent. I bought proper propagation boxes with clear doom. That could make a huge different. I am getting another Bella and surely want to chop it. I rather have a fuller pot than just one plant. 😜👍

I got the Hoya Bella because my daughters name is Bella (Isabella). I have to keep my Hoya Bella in moss because any other mediums just don’t work for me. I never let the moss full dry out. Also in a northern facing window. That just seems to work best for me right now. After a year it is finally putting out peduncles so hopefully I will get to see some blooms soon. I’m so excited 😆
