It's really interesting seeing a matchup where gobou doesn't completely wash his opponent. It seems like being able to represent strong screen control to oppose asuka's screen control is really important in being able to push him back and prevent him from taking over.

I think that's why bridget axl are some of his worst, their long normals completely invalidate his cubes so it's hard for him to zone them out or get in
@nerdyking9158 it's like that with Nago too, get up to level 3 and he can just 5h through all of Asuka's projectiles and counter hit basically fullscreen

frankly i feel like axl is less of a zoner than asuka.
Asuka is honestly a really cool character. He requires a lot of awareness, and is really high risk high reward. If you screw up with him, you honestly just might end up dead.
Plays the way a mage archetype should and I am so here for it

Its not that I want Axl to win, its that I want Asuka to lose.
idk if it's just that I'm not good against asuka, this felt on the surface as being very difficult for axl cuz he doesn't have many fast startup moves, literally his fastest move aside from throw is 2k, so if asuka gets started it's just 1 minute of blocking and looking out for that stupid teleport that forces a cross-up. Sure sickle flash destroys most projectiles in its path and keeps going, but its 24 frames of startup makes it almost impossible to use aside from doing it over and over again to drain asuka's tension or mana.
this axl was great, very few missed opportunities aside from a poor 2s, a bad yrc, and choosing to dash j.k where he got grabbed. an incredible showing all around and insane how long this was, lots to analyze for when I want to kick asuka's ass
He has a better answer than a lot it seems. His huge scythe moves punch through all the cubes
I swear Gobou is single handedly going to get this character nerfed.
