I love Stephen Colbert, Fred Armisen, wine and Foghat. This was the perfect sketch that pairs well with a little dry humor and balls to the wall 70s rock! Exquisite!

And then Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert fought over who got to keep Fred Armisen on their show.

Stephen g*d bless your jokes with deep intellect and interviews of others with respect (/retorting back to the audience boo's to give the guest professional respect ala Ted Cruz). Foghat - Slow Ride is a monumental achievement in music. I've been wine tasting for 15 years. This segment made me stand up outta my chair wanting to applaud because Fred Armisen really brought Stephen to a new level. Stephen you are the 2nd coming of Johnny Carson; thank you for saving late night.

You should have tasted the Pinot Noir before the Cabernet Sauvignon, as it is a medium bodied red, and the cabernet is full bodied.

As a sommelier I am offended that they used Bordeaux wine glasses to drink Burgundian wine and Burgundy wine glasses to drink Bordeaux wine.
Let's dispel with this fiction that Stephen Colbert and Fred Armisen don't know what they're doing. They know exactly what they're doing.
The first one had pale red color so i would tell that that was the pinot noir.
I think you might have caught the clue. First glasses were Burgundy glasses with lighter wine; second glasses were more trad. Bordeaux shapes with darker wine in them. I suspect their "sommelier" got things mixed up. Definitely sings much better than he serves!! 🍷
Apparently holding the bowl of a wine glass heats the wine too much and makes the alcohol taste drown out other aspects of the wine taste.
Mash during fermentation,,,,,

Soy sauce = mash
Tabasco = mash
But, for wine, not sure they ferment the mash

+Quarktic s there were a few actually reputable studies performed using some "professional" wine tasters. They could not tell the difference between white wine dyed red and actual red wine, they often favored cheaper wines over more expensive wines based solely on taste, and in general it was bullshitty

Yes. It it was sarcasm. No, this guest was not talented in anyway. On the other hand, if Stephen was wanting someone funny to write for him, I'm game. Hell, they won't have to pay me as much and, I would be funnier than 3/4 of those writers. Stephen is funny, but that hat joke is forced humor. Trust I have a natural funny bone and, it was not engaged when he had this dude on. Just like the first guy that played, Honey, I shrunk the kids, this guy is about as non funny.
