- Situated on the US/Canadian border, Lubec Maine is the Easternmost village in the contiguous US. With it's rich history, charming coastal setting, and rugged natural beauty, it's a very quiet and laid back alternative to Acadia National Park.
We spent a week exploring the area and we were honestly sad to leave. A little piece of our hearts were left in Lubec, and we can't wait to go back!

What did you think of the trails? And those views!!!??
Great Video! John P McCurdy was one of my Dad's best friends when we grew up in West Lubec. My dad had a chicken laying business in Washington County subcontracting locals to run about 10 chicken houses(probably 100,000 chickens). The Canadian subsidies have pretty much driven out all the ocean commercial fishing. I guess half of the houses turned into mushroom-growing houses now. My grandfather used to own the flatland going out to Quoddy Head and raised vegetables for the Boston market. I used to dig clams in Cobscok Bay down below the old west Lubec. Downtown had a movie theater used to go to as a teenager. It was across the street from the customs entry. Winter is tough and probably why I don't live there. I occasionally visit in August about every 10 years but very few friends left there.
Thanks for sharing a glimpse into the historic past! Lubec remains as one of our favorite places in the entire country. Such a special place.
We ❤ Lubec!!!
Yes!!!
Great recommendations! We likely would have missed Boothead Preserve were it not for your video. So amazing! Thank you:). Klondike Mountain was better than anticipated - fun hike, great vistas, and all the fresh huckleberries we could eat! Found blueberries and raspberries, too.
You are most welcome!! So glad ya'll were able to enjoy this little slice of heaven!
Not for everyone, but we loved it. Been there twice.
Agreed!
I lived there when the smokehouse was operating. It gave the downtown a unique smell. Great town to visit.
Nice!!!
I saw this channel via the back of your van/camper on my way to Katahdin!
Nice!!! Welcome to our tiny sliver of YT!

Great video. I love how much detail you guys give about the places that you visit. Not only to provide great ideas of things to see and do, but you include the history. Thank you for sharing. Peace and Safe Travels.
Thanks Craig!
The smokehouse video that you tagged showing the smoking of the fish process was very interesting.. the scenic views in your video, with your description top notch thank you
Thanks Darryl!
Wow, this town sounds like exactly the type of place we like to visit. Looks nice and quiet. Great point that there's a lot of beauty outside of the national parks in places where we can enjoy the sights without having to compete with as many people for a spot. I love the sights you highlighted near the end of your video. That state park looks fantastic! We love frequenting state and county parks as well. They are just as beautiful and less crowded.
I think ya'll would love it!! We're in Acadia now and there's sooooo many people! And folks were right, the views from Quoddy Head are way better! Can't wait to go back!!
Great job Guy's. My wife and I do love going to Lubec also.

Totally agree Lonnie!
We did manage to include it in this episode (in the Sunset Point RV Park chapter), and going forward we'll be gathering more footage from our base camps!
