    I wonder if it is actually profitable to massively use satellite. The thing being antennas are working pretty well in most countries. To me there is an issue with the close satellites as it creates sky pollution. We can already see this problem with starlink satellites. I don’t remember the exact figures but there are thousands of satellites in the sky at the moment. With that being said, it is logical that many more satellites will be launched in the sky in the near future to cover our usage if we start using satellites to communicate. Bottom line, using satellites only for sos communication is a great idea, but we shouldn’t rely on satellites to replace our local antennas.

    • @TheUnlockr
      @TheUnlockr  Před 9 měsíci +3

      So the idea isn't that they'll replace anything. The majority of the planet doesn't have coverage still so the satellites would be a way to cover those areas and that way you'd use your normal towers and cell signal as you always do but for those moments you're outside of that for whatever reason satellites will get to a point where they can provide coverage similar to that of cellular in those underserved areas.

    Using satellites is useful in certain situations.
    In the military we used satellite phones and a sat navigation system. Very useful.
    All planes and boats should have one as standard. After all not all plane crashes or boating accidents occur within range of a cell tower, leaving your mobile totally useless. But with a satphone? Your location is easily tracked.
    If you go trekking in remote areas a mobile phone is useless if you get injured. If you prefer a jungle setting a mobile phone is totally useless. Even a compass may be useless.
    So yes, there is plenty of examples where satellites can come in useful.

    5G is so sporadic I cannot see seemless connection any time soon unless tech companies have a fantastic plan and a new range of phones.

    • @markwilliamson9199
      @markwilliamson9199 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I imagine that 5G is spotty because you live in the US? Where 5G is driven by private company profit not a national rollout to some balanced plan?

    • @jk19781
      @jk19781 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Where I live in Chicago with t-mobile my 5g connectivity routinely gets 400mbps speeds. I can download a 2 gb movie in a minute or under usually. And I use a galaxy s23.

      @@markwilliamson9199it's spotty in the UK too and even if you have a 5g signal the speed is often poor. 4g is more consistent.

    Huawei mobile offers the remarkable feature of satellite text and calls on their phones, enabling communication from anywhere in the world, even on a plane! It's truly impressive. Now, I can't help but wonder why Apple seems to lag behind Chinese technology by several years. The advancements in 5G technology, in particular, appear to be rather sluggish in comparison to Chinese mobiles. It's quite apparent that the United States' Apple is trailing behind China's satellite phone capabilities by a significant margin of four years.
