    Hi again Richard. I really appreciate your videos and the effort it takes to make them. The camera overhead and the microscope helped a lot. Your tutorials are very useful and the explanations of the buck converter in this episode were great. I watched all the tutorials and even though it is a long way ahead I feel I understand the process a bit better. Keep up the good work, thank you.

      Hi Pawel - Thanks again for the encouragement :D I have now ordered an over head 1080p camera with 5mm-50mm manual zoom lens and variable focus so that should work even better. I will be doing separate beginners tutorials alongside the real life repairs - I've just made and uploaded the first one 'what is electricity' and 'ohms law' I hope you enjoyed it and the way I tried to explain it even if you already know this stuff.

      Thank you, Richard. Yes, I think it is a great idea to mix practice with theory. I read an excellent book Make: Electronics by Charles Platt (not sure if you know it) but your videos help to consolidate all the information.
      I have watched all your videos and they are great. I really like the practical aspect of the repairs but also when you explain on paper what is going on (like with the bridge rectifier).
      I wait for some tools and will soon try to learn more by testing and doing. It will be difficult to fix anything to start with but I'm sure that with your help I have better chances :)
      Thanks again Richard, you are doing a great job!

  • @Dutch_off_grid_homesteading

    Heya, I tyotally understand what you are doing and for the learning experience it's over the top, I'm learning more and more. but it's a hell of a job as I'm looking at it. maybe wen your doing it yourself it's less of a job ?

    Have you tryed hot tweezers they work well for some small stuff. I use antex and the smd bits from A to k i think work well for removal.

    have you heared of a method for short finding where you stick your meter permanently to the shorted rail and then heat up random suspects with hot air or soldering iron while watching if the resistance goes up? would have been nice to try it here if the suspicion was a cracked MLC

    • @LearnElectronicsRepair
      @LearnElectronicsRepair  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi VVerVVum - no I have not come across that method. It certainly sounds like a good idea to try it. In the end on this one it was not a cracked MLCC but the GPU itself, but I will give your idea a go next time I have this situation on a future video. Thank You, Richard.

      @@LearnElectronicsRepair I have not tried it myself yet but the concept sounds solid .. I would love to see you test if it works .. I have not had something with a short to try since I heard of it .. which I would have saved some shorted capacitors for a test setup XD

      @@VVerVVurm Yes I can see the logic in this as a short circuit MLCC most likely has a crack in it so it makes sense that it would respond to changing temperatures as it expands/contracts. I will certainly give it a go. If you find one yourself and can send any video then I will happily add it to the channel also (and of course give you all due respect and kudos for it :D).
