The entire route! Nottingham to London St Pancras filmed from the front of an East Midlands Trains class 43, High Speed Train, Intercity 125. With some incredible Paxman VP-185 engine sounds too.
Thanks for watching

One of the best trains ever made .
You're so right.
It certainly is sad to see them go but with HS2 on the way a bright future for us and our railway and so it should be we invented the railway and should be at the top table 🇬🇧💪💪👍😊 a high speed train capable of speeds up to 250mph can't wait
Never liked them myself. Not enough carriages, so difficult to find a seat a lot of the time, and if you did get one you could be staring at the side of the carriage with no window. Terrible seating arrangements. Give me locomotive hauled trains with 11/12/13 mk II or mk I coaches anytime.
I totally agree with you. We haven't such here on Italy.
Outstanding! You can't beat drivers eye views. You must do more.
You guys absolutely have the best diesel engines/trains out there. Amazing. ❤
Awesome footage!! Love the engineer view! And I also love being able to hear the DSD and AWS going off
Drivers view
Thanks for recording this! I'm currently recreating Kettering to St Pancras in a Transport Fever CZcams series at around 1:5 scale, so this helps no end.
Fantastic 😀 my home mainline and plenty of places that I used to go 'spotting back in the day in and around Leicester. Could watch these videos all day.👍
Agree, there was no East Midlands Parkway Station just south of Radcliffe-on-Soar Power station (8:35) back in the 1970's! But isn't it a national disgrace and embarrassment that in 2018 this line STILL hasn't been electrified through to Sheffield?
Lovely sound in the tunnel as he opens up just past West Hampstead.
Wonderful and beautiful video - thanks and regards, Dana.
Great drivers eye view footage mate
Thanks for posting. The way the train barrels through those stations, makes me think if you were on the platform you'd need to have your toupee on firmly.
In Italy there are not diesel-trains that powerful and fast, because all the main lines are electrified. The most powerful diesel-electric locomotive is the old d445, built in 1974, with a maximum speed of 130 kmh (80 mph). Wonderful video, congratulations. I apologize for my shaky English.
You did perfectly mate on the English and the punctuation I can’t speak English half the time 😂
@giovannigino3675, it’s the same in Sweden. It’s only regional lines such as Håkantorp-Gårdsjö and Lidköping-Kalmar or freight lines that aren’t electrified. The fastest diesel trains there run at about 140 km/h, or 89,9919669 mph.
Best Class 43 Intercity 125 i have seen. With a great sound from the VP 185 engine 🇩🇰
hope you do more of these they are fantastic
Thanks for a great DEV. I particularly like the way you label the stations - for those of us on the other side of the world the geography can be a bit puzzling otherwise.
That looks suspiciously like a requadrupling of the section from Kettering southwards! Thx very much for posting.
It is. I live in the Northamptonshire area and use this line often for commuting - they are adding a 4th line to Kettering (continues to Corby) and are also electrifying Bedford - Kettering - Corby.
I find cab view journeys really relaxing
Absolutely brilliant. Extremely well presented
Amazing especially when going past the stations. You really just can't beat driver eye view make sure you do another one this time the Opposite way.
Not a massive train fan mate but you've excelled yourself with this video! Amazing footage, I take this train regularly for work and nice to see the driver's eye view of the entire journey! Well done!
inflight Video h
Wow I love your videos Noel..
I agree
i did the journey alot as a kid. loved the ride.
Loved that .but yes would of been great to see train coming in to full stop in london station
Glorious!!!!
Use to love travelling on the hst sets, shame about their retirement. Great video
Not without some technical issues, but still a very enjoyable journey
Nice to see the quadrupling being put back
Thanks for sharing
Problems you mean
Absolutely brilliant video. Thank you for taking the time to produce this. Going to miss the 125 like Concorde and the Boeing 747. Beautiful train.
ScotRail is keeping the HST in service and has no plans to retire them. They have just refurbished them and installed new sliding doors.
Gotta love the sound of a 2 stroke diesel. Just as good as an EMD 567 in notch 8
Its a 4 stroke.
Nice video!
My first ever HST journey was yesterday on that route
Listening to this with earphones brilliant sound
I was expecting the ticket checker. Lol 😆
Awesome this is !
This is my guilty pleasure whilst at home due to the coronavirus, I went the other way yesterday from St Pancras to Derby
Will you people stop using that name , just call it a virus , not a god .
@@Patrick-hb7bk No mate, because thats hat it is called and its a real thing.
Patrick 777 777
Shut up
@@Ed_Gilbert Up yours , who pulled your string anyway .
@44.15 Glad to see Desborough water towers still standing after all these years. Reminds me of when I lived there in the 70s
Imagine how much better this would have sounded with a Valenta behind the driver. These MTUs sound like a freaking Leyland bus.
Definitely agree.
These class 43s will be around a long time yet i hope far more comfy than whats out there now and i can feel the power as it goes along....superb
Excellent! Thanks for posting.
Though I'm on the Derby leg (From Long Eaton), this is still a cracking run from the Nottingham leg..... Just wished it was possible to hear the good old Paxman Valenta scream once more (Also risking possible hearing loss!)..... Still, the VP185 puts in a worthy effort.
The high fencing from 3:37 is Sims scrap yard. Back in the 80's when it was still McIntyre's the huge machine that shreds the metals had a failure & a piece of it shot out & hit a passing train. I suspect the fence went up soon after. They still use their siding to transport the shredded metal out. You can see the siding at 3:45
Can't understand why grown men get so thrilled by such rail videos. As a kid I like most boys were keen train spotters but we grew out of it during maturity.
Superb thankyou for sharing.
Fantastic video. What an inadequate terminus St Pancras is, both in terms of number of domestic platforms and customer facilities.
limeyfox St Pancras is an incredible station! What facilities do you expect? It even has a bloody champagne bar
Is that a "caution! Low flying aircraft" sign at the end of the platform at Luton Apt PW?
From Bedford onwards a good illustration of how the catenary contact wire intentionally zig-zags.
Near the end, Belsize Tunnel was London’s longest Network Rail tunnel until HS1 built.
The zig-zagging is known as stagger; it's designed to even out the wear across train pantographs.
8:30 The view of east midlands parkway is amazing
MARIO SONIC sarcasm?
@@Ed_Gilbert I think he means the view of the large cooling towers.
@@QwertyScream I think he means the view of the large cooling towers.

Brilliant video. Really enjoyed.
A great video with the side angles of the train whizzing by as well besides the driver's view.
Beautiful trains the h s t 125.
Wow many bridges have been adapted or newly built for electrification north of Bedford.
Shame it wont reach as far as Nottingham and Sheffield or Derby.
Looks like some catanary masts have been replaced by new ones just near Kentish Town.
Exciting video.
Interesting contest of acceleration leaving Luton: HST vs class 700. Thameslink draws ahead but we catch it up at Luton Airport!
great video (from italy).
Great Video! what camera did you use for the DEV? Plus did you have to get permission from the T.O.C. company to film in the cab?
Great video!!
Is there any chance of your filming more of these cab rides ? Thanks, Dana.
What had happened to the northbound 700 at Luton Airport Parkway?
Would be also a good idea to create a Nottingham to London on TS2018.
I want that so much! And to include the Robin hood line to worksop! :D
Wold like Notts/Derby to Sheffield as well. Need more of the Midland Mainline
Good to see my home station! (won't say which one, you never know if Cambridge Analytica are reading this...)
EASYTIGER10 they probably are
I've asked to go in the cab before but got told no by Virgin West Coast due to H&S. How is this possible? Thanks.
Different TOC's have differing stances on allowing cab rides or allowing rail fans into the cab. Some are quite against it.
What is the diseal burn rate per minute?
Amazing experience. Great video. Would’ve been nice if you could have filmed the controls when leaving a station and coming to a stop before a station.
All the masts they have put up in this small time
How did you get this footage???
At about 1:04:00 there's a tunnel, with a speed board before it saying 100. After the tunnel, there's another speed board which I think says 120. Yet the train doesn't slow down before the tunnel. Measuring the time to pass the platform at Flitwick indicates that it is indeed doing about 125mph. So is it exempt from the tunnel speed limit?
HST's, such as what this train was often have their own speed boards. Such as the one in front of the tunnel. Where if you look closely says 100. But underneath it says HST 125. So for high speed trains, like this one, it is cleared to continue at full line speed. As it does.
Oh yes, I can see it now. Wasn't that apparent before. Thanks.
This is awesome. Thanks trainplanehub. Out of interest, was it filmed during the week or at a weekend?
I believe there are now some stretches of 125mph running on the MML??
Correct.
Fantastic video
Lovely video! :)
Amazing! But how do you get this footage???
did you work for east midlands trains?
*See the problem in Electrifying this line - all bridges too low, and tunnels out of Leicester ! Hence only planned [2021] up to Market Harborough !*
After all that we didn't even reach the buffers!
good video thx for sharing.
Sounding nice leaving Luton.
Leaving Luton always sounds nice!
Great video.
How did you get the cab ride? Brilliant video though, I do love the Paxman VP185 scream.
We need a Sheffield to St Pancras POV 👍
Don Coffey has one on his channel I believe.
What year was this. And why does the film start off in near darkness and end in near darkness? Was this filmed from several different trains?
Love hst....100mph and engines seem like in tick over...not a murmur...they built em to do the job and more. at 30:36 is that a wheelchex unit yellow on track left ?
The Pxman Valenta engines were very high revving for their era. Peak power (2250bhp) I think is at 1500 rpm. The rationale is weight reduction. Smaller engines need revving higher to develop power. From memory these are only something like 80 litres swept volume. Hence the turbo scream under load. Great pieces of machinery.
How fast do they go?
Great video
Nice! 👌
The British Tail Class 43 (HST) is the tops classification used for the InterCity 125 High Speed Train
Why didn't you show the train coming to a stop at St Pancras station? Anyway, great video
Maybe he had to hide the camera quick before he got told off for filming while on the job.
i just climb down the train ...nice footage
Very good video. I'd love to travel in the cab of an HST. When was this filmed?
From the state of the landscape (trees still bare) and the timing (arr Leicester at 1655) I think this was filmed in March 2018 - my guess would be between March 21 and 24 - later than this it would have been lighter (daylight saving time); earlier than this it would have been darker on approach to St Pancras. Also new Thameslink stock seen several times which was only introduced in 2017/18.
Hi! Was this the diesel loco or the driving trailer the video was filmed from ? Excellent one! Thanks, Dana.
HSTs have a 'loco' (power car) at both ends
How's the preparation for Electrification going...... brilliant video...
Not simon price asda cleaner cardiff ?
Great video mate...awesome Fast Track ride...all the way whole journey...!!! ~ One thing I did notice was "Unusual " Signal Repeaters " around Wellingborough / Bedford area.." GREEN ONES " I have never seen Green ones before..!!! ~ Love the Midland..best railway in my opinnion...well at the moment it is, until they ruin it with frigging wires & rigging etc..have always liked the scene just south of Platform 1@ Market H ' where the New & the Old unite...i.e the New Tech Signal Rig..& just to the left of the rig the lovely old Yard light...hope they never ever get rid of that they look so nice indeed together.....Also its my home track..being as I live in Leagrave..!!! :)
They are three-position banner repeaters. The green tells drivers that not only is the signal ahead clear but it's at green. A white 'off' at this type of banner means that parent signal is clear but showing a yellow or double-yellow.
Thanks CZcams for ruining the video by slamming me with two irrelevant ads totaling 7 minutes long in only the first 3 minutes of the video. By the way I keep hitting thumbs down on ads and yet the ads continue to bother me. Are you just scamming us?
you don’t pay for youtube, they need to make money and how would they be scamming you, just because you put a dislike doesn’t mean that they’ll remove all your adverts, it will just give you a different advert.
The Bedford to London part of the route is nicknamed the “Bedpan line”
I've noticed that in Moleman's video of 40145 in TS, I think it's because the MML is electrified from *Bed* ford to St *Pan* cras
Lol the view (and probably all) from the station, wasnt that train, because on the video at the platform he was clearly standing outside on the platform that on the train theres no one there at all!
Love these cab views but not the noisy ones>
How is this a Valenta? I thought the class 43s were all re-engined long ago.
Its a VP-185, not a Valenta. As it says in the titles & description...
Ah ok I thought that was the same thing. I stand corrected.
@@ericjamieson All other operators' HSTs have been re-engined with MTU engines from the mid 2000s onwards. East Midlands Trains opted instead for the Paxman VP185 which is a more modern version of the original Paxman Valenta that stopped being made in 2003.
nice video. can the H S T's achieve 125 m p h on this route the speed sign's are hard to see.
Speed signs are often old and inaccurate; many of the signs on the Midland mainline indicate 100mph line speed where 125mph is used frequently.
Yes they do attain 125mph on some of these sections...eventually. Unlike the 222s, HSTs top-end power tails off above 90/100.
@@allmyothersubscriptions some signs are indeed old, such as the yellow stencil 'cut outs', but they are all accurate.
all the bridges on this route look as though they've all been rebuilt and made higher as if they are preparing for the electrification of the line which would be a good idea to do is electrify the route to cut time off the journey
Having the HD was a good idea but lost looking through a dirty window..))
The speed? Tank you.
Up to 125 m/ph or 200 km/h!
Great video, are you a train driver?
Dr Chunky Biscuit No, I was just wondering if he is one.
Mylordzzzzzz Dilly Dilly amazing sounds.
DelticMatt But it isn’t a class 158
Lewis Pridden yea I know.
I was a bit surprised how busy the Midland Main Line actually is.
