    Parcă auzi vocea compozitorului in interpretarea maestrului Celibidache.
    Magnific!

    when people say "it was too slow", I ask "Do you mean it dragged?" If they aanser "no" then it wasn't slow. There's a difference between MM tempo and pulse. It takes a great musician, like Celibidache , to play at slow MMs as he does but to keep the music going forward. What he gains, is in the textures, the inner parts have time to phrase, you hear so much more of what is happening in the orchestra. The inner parts have space to breathe.

      There is a 1982 Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart performance also on YT. The tempos are very similar. This is the way Celibidache conceived the piece.

    Simply magic . When you think that he was an invited conductor, it is amazing what he got from these musicians.

    Magnifique ! Incomparable avec Karajan !!! Il n'y a pas de superlatifs assez forts pour Célibidache ! Quelle chance incroyable pour iwan...2003 d'avoir pu assister aux concerts de cette époque !

      Un tout petit peu plus âgé que vous..., j'ai assisté à presque tous ses concerts à la Maison de la Radio, quand j'étais étudiant en 74/75. 40 ans après, quel souvenir ! Je n'ai pas entendu en concert un seul autre chef qui m'ait autant "marqué"...

    Interesting performance. I swear I hear a dog bark at 1:07 ??? The orchestra itself is not top quality, but there is something very heartfelt about this performance that others lack. I love the slow tempo. Thank you for posting this video.

    • @mpearsonmadrid
      @mpearsonmadrid Před 7 lety +2

      The 'dog bark' makes me laugh! It was a very new orchestra when this was recorded and in a country where Franco was still supreme. Educational opportunities were few and far between. I worked with many of the musicians seen here and there was quite rightly a sense of great pride that something special had been created. The last founding member of the orchestra retired only relatively recently.
