The little loop at the bottom is to hang weight (bucket with rocks or water) to keep it stable when you can’t use the stakes, as on your deck or blacktop. Goal Zero puts out some great products, thanks for the video.

Thanks for your comment! Makes sense for hanging a weight. The skylight is very solid when lower but does get a little top heavy & wobbly when fully extended, understandably.

THANK YOU. I was confused as well, but that makes perfect sense!!

the battery (self contained) is in the on/off switch case. small clasp on Bottom where cable comes out is so you can clip a weight on to help it from blowing over in wind. guess you could use it for other things too? Ex; lock it to a tree?

I definitely would use this camping. It will get dark by 5pm and I need to see Everything while I'm cooking😁 That will test what setting I need. May not need boost at a camp site, but I'm glad it's there just in case. I'm not scared to boost the entire camp site🤣 This is perfect for a glamper🥰

Looks like there are two little holes in the feet for the stakes to go in. My guess is that the bigger hole is for a bigger stake (or for a bolt or tie-down).

I think the vampire drain you mention at 6:00 is actually the Yeti 500X continuing to charge up the internal batteries of the Skylight, as I can see the lights blinking on the latter. I'm with you though, not making it run on whatever the PD standard is for USB C that supports 100W was a miss by Goal Zero.

Thank you for your comment. You are totally right. Once the built in battery is fully charged it uses 5-10watts less continuous. There is a usb c to 8mm adapter. Next version will be even better.

What in the world is the practical use for a 6000 lumen light while camping?

Hopefully there isn’t one unless there aren’t other people around that want it dark. I am picturing a ring of toy hauler friends with a skylight in the middle. They could all basket weave or something. Cornhole all night? Really makes me want to be nocturnal in the summer on the cool nights.

Haha, I definitely think there will be proper considerate use applications. Definitely can see improper use scenarios in campgrounds.

    Definitely not worth $300
