  • A nuanced (in every sense of the word) and complicated, yet easy to follow, grooving vibe, and a comedic acapella cover. Fantastic!

    Thanks Drew! I love that you got so jazzed about it! There are a ton of nuances, Easter eggs, and vocally crazy stuff that happens in this and it was so much fun to do!

      Agreed! It was a pleasure to listen to and watch! It was quite an intricate piece, and it was very well executed. The right voices for this kind of arrangement!

      The carrot was a great nod to Layne the Carrot Lord teasing J None with carrots. And he has never stopped. And it brings me joy. ☺️

      I don't think he ever plans to stop. He now has carrot related merchandise in the Voiceplay store.
      His last tease to J None he did a video while icing Cyndi's carrot birthday cake 🍰. Was funny 🤣

    Layne did the arrangement but it was Geoff's idea to include the swing section, so he gets credited for that bit. IN the BTS we learned that Cesar's ears kept slipping down and had to be continually re-atttached. How they get the whole thing so smooth is incredible.

    • @EthanDrewMusic
      @EthanDrewMusic  Před rokem +2

      That swing section is masterfully executed, I have to say. This one was awesome, to say the least!

      Oh, I hadn't seen the BTS so I didn't know about the ears thing. I thought they were purposely having his ears move up and down as if he was wiggling them.

    This is the best. Now I have a visual to go with the music. The masks you see in the branches of the trees are Lock, Shock, and Barrel from their cover of Kidnap the Sandy Claws from The Nightmare Before Christmas ft. Rachel Potter. Eli Jacobson the Green guy is a professional voice actor outside of VoicePlay.

    I've always thought VoicePlay should have been awarded some sort of A Capella award for this. I've played this in band and none of it was easy but I loved it. What VP is doing, is truly different for an acapella arrangement and deserved some attention.

  • @ilonadever8249

    I always think of cartoon voices when they do those character voices. Geoff is given credit for additional arranging, I think that last swing part was his. This is so funny, it just had me rolling!! Great reaction! New one coming out in about a week.

    Once again,thanks for an interesting analysis.
    All scandinavians are familiar with this piece. It's often used to introduce children to classical music from early age, being appealing with it's development of tempo and storyline. I certainly grew up on it.
    VP takes it to a new level. I just love that Elizabeth Zharoff named what Layne is doing as burp-boxning.

    Layne looks so childishly mischievous in this video , which, for what I read under other reactions, could very well be a big part of his nature. And he is the Lord of the Carrots... 😁😅😂
    There are so many little details and cool things and hidden gems in this video, one could go on finding new ones for hours and hours. 🙂
    I find this one so creative, they really tell a whole story IN DETAIL with just vocal "sounds" and body language and their expressions. Which is what these things are all about, ain't them? 🙂
    I keep loving that you take the time and the space to share IN DETAIL with us all the things that you notice and their effect on you. Thank you for that. 🙂
    I just subscribed AGAIN. It seems that CZcams lost my subscription in the cyberspace. 🤔

    • @EthanDrewMusic
      @EthanDrewMusic  Před rokem +3

      This is quite possibly the most intricate arrangement they’ve done, and I wish I could’ve done more, but like you said, I’d be going on for hours.
      They took a classical piece that has no words, and they did an acapella arrangement of it, incorporated several music genres into it, AND told a story through the arrangement. WITHOUT A SINGLE WORD SPOKEN OR SUNG. This is just baffling!
      My goal is to drive everyone’s attention to the little things, in addition to the big things they don’t notice, so they can get a better understanding of, and appreciation for the music they listen to. If I’ve accomplished that, then my mission is complete! 🙂

    Let me tell you, we love our VoicePlay and will support those who will play, react, and analyze out favorite group. VoicePlay deserves as much credit as they can get. They don't work through recording studios, they own what they do and they do it well. Thank you! Geoff's top end that we know of is A5. I got to play this piece in high school band. My instrument was the contrabass clarinet (one advantage of being first chair for the section). We did all of the Peer Gynt Suite but this was my favorite movement. I'm so glad to see you enjoying it as much as I did and do.

      No hurt feelings here! I did talk about Geoff a decent amount in this one - but this isn’t to say that the others are any less talented or what they’re doing is any less impressive.
      Where I’ve been a bass/baritone singer for several years, I’m just naturally drawn to bass-related content. I typically try my best to address the things everyone is doing, but this one, I ended up talking about Geoff and his part more than the others. I’ll work on it, for sure! It’s an area for improvement!
