Bring your attention to Conscious Awareness where you can experience God in each present moment.

  • September 26, 2023 - Everything is vibrating energy. We already exist in the mind of God as Divine Energy, the highest form of vibration. Our purpose in this life is to bring our attention to this mental plane of Conscious Awareness where we can experience God in each present moment.
    Here are some techniques for helping us stay in Conscious Awareness:
    1. Positive Thinking - Paramahansa Yogananda suggested that we replace each negative thought with a positive one.
    2. Mantra - Train you mind to use a single word or phrase until it gets stuck in your mind. Repeat words such as Om, God, Adonai, Allah, Jesus. Michael Singer also suggests other non-spiritual phrases such as “I am always fine” or “I can handle this.”
    3. Witness Consciousness - Just notice that you are noticing what the mind is doing. You are the Observer, the Witness, in the audience while your personal self is acting out a role on stage.
    4. Meditation - Sit in a comfortable upright position. You may have both hands open, palms facing up, as an indicator of your openness to the Divine. Set aside 10-15 minutes at the same time each day, perhaps first thing in the morning and last thing before going to bed. Be intentional about doing this important work. This is for learning only; don’t set an expectation for having a spiritual experience. Just observe whatever comes up. You may think, “My mind never shuts up.” That’s good because it shows that you are the Observer observing the thoughts in your egoic mind. Changing your relationship with your egoic mind is your spiritual journey.
    The best way to keep focused and not get caught up in your thoughts is to pay attention to something other than your thoughts. Many teachers suggest noticing your breaths. Each breath in and out counts as a single breath. You can breathe in and out through your nose or in through your nose and out through your mouth. You can inhale for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4 and exhale for a count of 6. You can count your breaths up to 25 and then start counting over again as a means of staying focused on breathing.
    Other teachers suggest noticing the inner energy of your hands. As you focus on your fingers on one hand, you may find that your fingers start to tingle because you switched your attention from the personal mind to your inner energy body. If you focus on other parts of your body, you may find that they tingle as well.
    Practice different techniques until you find something that works best for you. The purpose of these techniques is to turn the focus of your consciousness back to Self. When you contemplate the nature of Self, you are meditating. You are aware of who you really are. You woke up.
