MimiG I love your tutorials. If I may add a little suggestion. Could you show a screen shot of the finish garment at the end of your videos? Otherwise excellent tutorials. Awesome patterns. I bought all of your Simplicity patterns so far. Please keep them coming! Lol!!!
She doesn't do these tutorials for newbies. There are too many pattern pieces for it to be easy. I wish she would show the end result too but I'm grateful for this morsel. At least I have an idea.
Just brought this today. It was the only one of yours that wasnt sold out! I'm so excited to get started😊😊😊
I've searched everywhere for this pattern. My sister made a perfect version of it in a liberty silk and it's just beautiful! I understand the pattern is from about 2016, which is only 6 years ago, so I really don't understand why Simplicity would discontinue such a stunning classic. I wouldn't normally search for shirt dresses and I wouldn't have realised that this model suited me if I hadn't tried on my sisters'. I've also searched all my back issues of Simplicity Magazine to see if the pattern was ever featured there. Sorry to sound obsessed but I think I've compared details of almost every shirtdress pattern on the internet, every brand. Nothing compares!
Obviously I would be extremely grateful for any tips. There is one on Etsy but it's too big. That will be my last resort. :)
I am having the same problem right now. I have looked all over for this pattern and to no avail. I did eventually find one on Ebay however, it was a size 20w. Have you had any luck since?
Keep the pattern tutorials coming it is an excellent idea. I have made several of your simplicity outfits for myself and family. I know reading a pattern should not be rocket science, but sometimes it is unclear as to what to do. You take the guess work out. I have had a couple of Ah Ha moments. Thanks a bunch for the complete and explained sew along. Also your individual sew along are made easy by explanations.
abcsolutely Ryan
Thank you! I was having trouble with the right placket but watching this helped me through it. It was still a little confusing but after about 5 slo-mo views i got it.
I saw this pattern at Walmart and I was just so inspired! You are such an inspiration. I can't wait to get into sewing. 😄
I've been sewing for 64 years and I had thought about doing videos but don't know how to get started with it sewing has always been my passion like you any suggestions and by the way, I like your style keep doing what you do best and love it happy sewing and God bless you
I'm an advanced beginner at sewing and I am trying to take my sewing skills to the next level. I would LOVE to see more videos from seasoned sewists like you and I hope you achieve your goal of getting started with your own sewing videos!
I would love to see how the dress turned out.
Very nice tutorial
Just bought the pattern. Can't wait to sew it!
Yeah! I finished my dress today and I love it!!!!!!!
God bless you Mimi!
I made this pattern. Got many compliments. But that right placket though!!!! Gave me much drama.
Just made this pattern that right planket is a tough one I finally got it I would not do this pattern again lol it make me want to give up sewing
Adriane Grier see you didn't give up and you made it look at it this way you learned something new don't give up if sewing is what you enjoy ok who knows maybe one day you'll be doing videos lol Happy sewing and God bless you
Please explain how you attached the right placket it really doesn’t make sense
i love it very good explation thanks
It would be good to see a picture of the finished garment for this and other videos.
I did not see where you explained what to do (or how to prep) with the seam allowances when sewing the casing over them.
Yes Hunni !
I would love to see the finished products that you sew so I can write ✏️ the pattern number down and buy it saves me time. I have one suggestion you like me forget you are showing people how to sew this and other items slow down a little you're going through it too quickly I've done that to my granddaughter and she's like some down a little remember you're suppose to teach me I'm not supposed to be watching you sew I'm supposed to be learning I forget. Other than that you are phenomenal young lady Happy sewing happy creationing
Nice! Would like to see the finished products!! You do not show them at the end! Why?
What type of interfacing are you using?
Porqué no haces tutoriales en español. Tambien. Gracias.
Probably because she's American.
Hi Mimi, I enjoyed this tutorial, but I'm confused as to why you were doing two lots of button holes? I'm not sure how to make sense out of that step. I look forward to hearing from you.
Where did you get the fabric that the dress on the cover is made out of?
Hi I just pulled out the pattern to make I wondered why is the front longer then the back when you add the a-1 to the is it needed to be added since I'm not adding the drawstring to the waist and making the sleeves long that should be hard to do should it. My plan is to make the dress and the use the long vest jacket pattern from pattern 8177 bb with lace and that be a set
Hi, I'm just now making this garment and noticed that same thing. The reason the front is longer than the back is because the back needs to have the yolk sewn to it....then the yolk gets sewn to the front at the shoulders and everything should then be even at the bottom. 😁
Beautiful tutorial, love your baby lock sewing machine, I am interested how do I contact you,
Mimiga, I need your help. I alway have a problem with picking the right fabric, what advice can you share with me to help me choose thw right fabric when using patterns. Please help me
Racquiyah ParHam, if you look on the back of (most) pattern envelopes, they will list recommendations for the best types of fabric for that pattern. For example, the pattern for this tutorial lists challis, chambray, charmeuse, crepe, crepe de chine, lightweight linen types, seersucker, shirting and silky type fabrics as being suitable. If you're new to sewing, I would recommend visiting your local fabric store and spend some time checking out the fabrics the shop offers. Take your time and really look at and feel the various fabrics. Most shops will cut swatches for free or for a minimal cost, that way you can take them home for reference. (I like stapling my swatches to an index card and writing down the maker, the store I found it at, the fiber content, the width, the care instructions, as well as the price per yard.) It really is the best way to get acquainted with different fibers, textures, and hands of the fabric. I hope this helps! ❤
What is the brand and model of that machine?
Just curious couldn’t you add a zipper instead of the buttons?
This tutorial is way too fast and not for beginners. I'm having trouble with the right planket.
where do she buy her fabric from?
She buys a lot from Michael Levine. she usually list the source on her website.
She goes kinda fast :/
Wish I could see what she was doing.....
I love your tutorials, but can you please go slower and use a fabric that is solid so the stitches can be shown. PLEASE.
Came you make Simplicity pattern that are plus size . PLZ
+Angelika Sheffield Hi Angelika, You can check out our plus size patterns 8097: bit.ly/smp8097 and bit.ly/smp8091. Thanks!
she does. I seen them go up to 22
ok ty
+Sunny Potts I wish the pattern sizes came in petite plus sizes.
+jaydubalso she does 10 and up. I mean you can adjust the patterns as well
This is not one of her best tutorials. You're moving too fast for newbies and it's like you're skipping steps. Everyone is not advanced and since you say step by step you should go step by step. And you're talking extremely fast. I love all the other tutorials this one i just gave up on.
Is it just me or the right placket was never finished in this tutorial?
I came to see Step 15 & 16 but it seems Step 16 was skipped over🤨🤨
i was fine until that first placket !!
what type of fabric is used in this tutorial?
she doesn't complete the right planket. she missed some steps.
tamisme65 :((((
This is EXACTLY what I came on to say!
