    Thanks for the video. My younger brother bought a 16' Bayliner bowrider with an 85 Force engine back in 1984 for less than $7K (complete) when Bayliner was really just coming out. I had a bought a 19' Regal Cuddy about the same time. Found his Bayliner rode much better than my bigger, heavier and much more expensive boat. He stopped using it in the late 90's and left it at my house. I still have it and believe it or not it's still running. Had replace the seats and a few minor things but can't seem to kill it.

    I wasn't familiar with this boat until, a couple of weeks ago, I found a 2013 E16 60HP on Craigslist for $9500. It looked in good condition from the pics. I was very close to driving 5 hours to Key West to take a look and probably buy it, but it sold.

    I have the same boat. Just a head up The speedo is off by a few mph. You can use the GPS on your phone to compare or what I did was purchase the mercury vessel view which is a bluetooth device that links your phone to give you alot more information such as fuel level, rpm, speed, navigation and other feature I'm sure I'm forgetting.

      I'm happy with it. My only gripe is if you dock somewhere for a short period of time and shut your engine off you have to re-sync. I wish it had an auto sync similar to most cars. But I can get over that. It really makes up for the lack of instruments.

      Nelson Vienneau ... yes it is for when the boat is on the trailer traveling. It helps relieve pressure from engine while driving and bouncing down the road. Highly recommended and super cheap for long term care, cost about $30 bucks

I've seen the arms that attach to the trailer, and then a lot of folks like the M-Y Wedge...which one did you go with, and do you like it? Pros and cons? Again, thanks for the videos!

    • @midwestbuilds
      @midwestbuilds  Před 5 lety

      Joel Nadeau M-Y wedge is what i have. Love it, super easy on & off. Secures nicely and easy storage. I have zero complaints. I have not seen any elements with the arm ones attached to trailer. Thnks!!

      Freeman Bastille i personally have no issues with this, i reached out to bayliner last year about this and may make a video on their response sometime. Seems like only a few people have had issues with this.
      I dont have any knowledge on the mako, looks cool though. If u are wanting to fish i would highly recommend looking at the F16 or F18 element...they are center counsel fishing versions

      @midwestbuilds  Před 3 lety +1

      yes it is! that is another reason i purchased the boat, the outboard maintenance is very simple DIY. i made 2 vids on this and the best part of an outboard is that you do not need to worry about freezing water in the block because all the water drains out once you lower it. peace of mind for sure!

      If you add the plastic sides to divide the three compartments, you will no longer be able to, naturally, drain the anchor compartment. The reason they all connect is to allow water to reach the bilge area.

    • @fingers215
      @fingers215 Před 6 lety

      Norman Leger you can leave cut outs at the bottom if you get water it can still flow to where it needs to go.you still get 3 compartments. If you wanna keep things dry you can box off compartments with space at bottom. Water can flow if that's a worry an you still get dry storage. Theres always a way.

How do you charge your battery? Mine keeps dying fast. From radio and started turning off red all switch underneath. Auto bilge should still work?

  • @RobertGammie
    @RobertGammie Před 4 lety +4

    I'd just add this. I own the same with the 60hp. When it's not loaded down it performs okay. That said, it definitely needs a 4 blade prop. I got the Spitfire 13.8 x 11p and that improved the hole shot, big time. It dis lose a little top end speed though, which was expected. What this video doesnt mention, and what I dislike most about this boat is how poorly it handles even small chop on the water. Slam, slam on 1 foot of chop going 28mph. When its glassy it feels great. You cant trim this boat to it's full potential speed with porpoising severely, maybe add trim tabs? But now you blowing too much money on a cheap boat, imo. Would I buy this boat again? No. The "m-hull" is the worst thing about it. Get a model with a v-hull. Not bashing Bayliner though. They put lots of people in their first boats for a reasonable price point.

      Robert Gammie good points, but it is a great boat overall for a family getting started. The porpoise isnt a hard fix, for around $100 bucks i installed trim tabs and fixed the issue. They shouldnt even offer the boat in a 60 HP in my opinion. Thnks for sharing!!

    • @midwestbuilds
      @midwestbuilds  Před 6 lety

      Roger Chen I can’t say for sure as I do not know the measurements on an e18 model. I can say that with my garage at 19 feet, I only have 3 to 4 inches front and back to work with. This includes me tilting engine down and lowering nose of trailer which helps me fit. So with my 19 foot from wall to garage door, an e18 will not fit. Good luck and hope this helps!
