I was homeless at 19 years old. I got caught shoplifting a toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, and a hairbrush. I was arrested and taken into the precinct.. while I was going through the process there, I ended up striking up a conversation with a black female officer.. She was asking me why I felt the need to shoplift and how I ended up in this type of a situation at only 19 years old. About an hour before I got released she came over to the holding cell where I was at and she slipped me two $20 bills and told me to go get the toiletries that I needed. I'll be 32 in December and her kind act has always stuck with me. That meant so so much to me in such a dark time in my life.

The look of defeat and despair on that poor homeless woman's face when she gives up is just heartbreaking. It's wonderful that cop decided to spend his own money to help her. Restores some faith in humanity.

  • @sadalien9049

Massive respect to the cop who bought the lady a hat and gloves. She was only taking the things she truly needed. No frivolous stuff like nail polish, hair dye, or entertaining electonics.

  • @EricBussman

The officer that bought the hat and gloves for the homeless girl actually made me tear up. You can see, and I'm sure he did too, the look of despair and hopelessness on her face. Totally defeated. It's this type of thing that can turn someone's life around

  • @metalcorequeen

The cop that bought that girl's hat and gloves made me tear up. Thats the kind of officer we want. He acted with kindness and compassion as he deescalated the situation because he saw it wasnt needed to arrest her, that is how you protect and serve.

Heartbreaking to know that the woman in the second clip who was shoplifting the hat and gloves passed away barely a year later. Was hoping I’d look into that story and find out that she was doing better.

  • @lindalucia6334

There are not enough words to express the gratitude I have for the officer that purchased the hat and gloves for the homeless woman. Showing that kind of compassion and heart is everything. We can only hope to all be this gracious

  • @timouellette4693

Totally absurd hearing that all charges were dropped on the two from WalMart. And we wonder why it happens? Zero conequences for getting cought with drugs while shoplifting & fighting with a Police officer. Shameful!!

Imagine turning shoplifting into a seven year prison sentence.

  • @jodymitchell1678

As many other comments have said already, props to the officer who helped the homeless lady. And the cashier also for showing kindness.

  • @harryheathen4733

The lady running from the cops really put on her hazards when her car started to messup 😂

  • @leox.jaramillo3231

That cop from the 2nd clip deserves some recognition. Not only didnhe help the person, he actually did defuse the criminal situation. Mad props.

  • @GamerBro22299

The homeless case with the officer graciously offering to pay for a hat and gloves for the woman was definitely a very thoughtful act. How kind and compassionate of the officer, not trying to escalate the situation but rather have the patience and composure to better understand the situation. And to the shopkeeper as well, not even pressing charges at all.

  • @PeterPeter-rl9vn

I love when people say “you can’t do this” or “get your hands off me” while being arrested, it’s like they don’t know what happens when you do something wrong.

  • @Simply_surviving

The officer actually helping this woman OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET brought tears to my eyes. How rare it is to see an officer with true motivation in his heart to HELP the members of his community. Just like in nursing it is becoming more about the money and less about being in the profession because you truly care about helping and caring for other humans. I’ve seen a decline of compassion in my profession.

  • @gsandy5235

I'm a 63 year old grandpa who went watery eyed when the officer said he would purchase the hat and gloves. Our world needs more people like that.

  • @PunkrockNoir-ss2pq

"charges dropped" Thanks DAs for failing society

  • @Eradicatetheobvious

Im glad the department gave the man applause. Police are supposed to build community relationships and that was one great way of lessening the divide. Mad respect

  • @Antney946

That last girl shocked the hell out of me with her absolute honesty. I was not expecting that at all.

  • @Raniyahbrown

i literally cried watching the clip of the cop buying her the hat and gloves… it’s nice to be reminded there ARE good people out there :’)
