- Hey guys!! Since I got the new Kaleidos Smokey Nostalgia Collection I wanted to get some swatches up ASAP because this launches tomorrow! This is a more neutral or classic themed collection with a modern twist. The quads are great quality and I LOVE the shimmer shades but I honestly can't wait for some more color and texture... It's interesting to me, Kaleidos doesn't seem to keep to any specific packaging and yet you can still recognize their makeup. The futurism palettes were thin and long with circle pans, the bigger palettes like the escape pod were big chunky rectangles with square pans, the flower punk was long with long thin rectangle pans and a removable top, and now this collection with square quads using almost rose-looking imprinted circle pans. I personally really like the packaging for these and I'm actually quite interested in these because despite how neutral it is, they're unique tones and I love their formula typically. I won't be buying this collection though since I am limiting purchases right now and I don't know that this collection is enough to break my budget for🤷♀️
Completely agree with everything you said!! I would be interested in trying a blush, a quad maybe and I love the lip clay formula!! For the price like you said though…I’m not liking it enough to buy the whole collection
This collection screams 90’s glam to me and I’m all about it!
The quality seems great, and I can respect that they’re patching a hole in their line up. I think a lot of people will be excited about this, but if I’m going to be completely honest it’s just not what I want on my eyes at this stage of my life..
I feel weird that I’m more excited about blushes over eyeshadow from this collection, but the red blush looks unique and I don’t think I have anything like that color. Super tempted to buy a few shades after hearing more thoughts/reviews. Thanks for this first look, extremely informative and concise as always 🤩🥰👍

The blush actually looks beautiful on your skin. I definitely see the peach on you. I don’t know if it would show on my skin tone but looks so pretty on you. Your look is beautiful but that goes without saying. All your looks are stunning IMO

Once you open up the eyeshadow palettes, they remind me so much of the esthetic of Wet n Wild’s Rebel Rose collection, even the embossing of the pans.

Definitely was not expecting this launch from Kaleidos but it seems very thought out and trendy. But I totally agree, I expected more futuristic colourful, and shimmery shadows. Pretty look as always, Lauren❤️
I love the packaging on this collection, I only wish the eyeshadows were the colors of the packaging. I get the theme, and they nailed it. I was just hoping to see the purple, pink, and red in the shadows along with the black. Maybe that's just me.

Love how your headband matches the collection! I am interested in the deeper blushes and lip clays, so I am glad you are covering them! Who knows, this might be my first purchase from the brand. I could never pull the trigger on their pinkier lip colors and I do not need any more eyeshadow (lol still getting the Oden's Eye palette tomorrow)
Nice overview of the collection! And I like the look you did. I'm more into color but I like how the black palette looks. I totally agree with you that swatches on a diverse group of models would have made the color choices easier especially since you can't see these in stores.
Oh gosh the cool toned quad with that dark based silver is so so pretty 😍 I do wish the packaging/theming was a little more in line with the past Kaleidos stuff but the quality seems to be solid.
That silver is super pretty!! I was really happy that the quality and pigment was there!!
The unique thing about the blushes is that it looks like they’re dark enough and pigmented enough to show up and darker skin tones but one blended out would also suit lighter skin tones. And that isn’t something we see all the time.
I think so too! I love how buildable they are! I just wish they did swatches for the blushes on different skin tones like they did will all the other products!
@@LaurenMaeBeauty when I was on the website it looks like they don’t actually swatch it on other people they just kind of lower the ICO of the photograph? I could be wrong and I’m not trying to start stuff. But I noticed that when I was half asleep last night when I looked on the website after your video.
This brand just kills me with each collection. Not because I'm just so in love with each theme, but because I know how amazing their formula is and trust each collection completely. I dont know many brands I can say that about, ya know? Great video, doll!
This collection would have fit my aesthetic to a Tee once upon a time. Black lace, dark purple, 1920s silent film star smokey eye makeup, actual rouge colored blush. It's beautiful. And I love the packaging & the romantic fantasy its selling but I've moved on from wearing all black clothing & matte brown smokey eye looks. I like a little more color, sparkle & variety in my life now :)
I'm a colour lover and I was like ohhh these are different 😂 I will definitely pick something up, this is a take on neutrals I can get behind.
So stunning. I seriously love kaleidos. They’re so unique yet recognizable as a brand. I love basically everything they put out. For me to get excited about two incredibly basic quads says a lot

Yay for cool tones! The box is so super cute. I’m here for it. I just wish the entire collection was all cooler in tone. If I’m wearing a cool toned eye, I always keep my cheeks and lips cool toned.

I've been in a very colorful mood recently, basically exclusively wearing the Likely Makeup Ugly palette (and their clown blush, love that thing) along with hella glitter and graphic liner. Before that, I was really into the grungier colors like in the CourpopxRBK and Subculture vibes for a LONG time. Now that this collection has come out it made me realize that it's a section I'm totally lacking in, and I LOVE IT. Picked up both quads, a couple blushes, and the lipsticks. Most neutral collections bore me but this one really grabbed my attention!
Whoever does the design work for Kaleidos is killing it! They make the most beautiful and interesting collections. I want all the blushes. I wonder if you could use them on your eyes?
God I’m dying. I want this whole collection. I think it’s stunning packaging wise and the blushes are gorgeous. I do like the quads but I’m not a nude lipstick wearer so that red is calling me. That jewelry box is just glorious.
Great review, Lauren!!! The look is beautiful and I think that blush looks amazing on your skin tone!! It definitely didn’t look like bronzer once you applied it. I know they are matte but idk if it’s the lights but it just seems like they have a more satin finish. Almost like I can see the slightest sheen. Now on to you new perfume vid!!!🥰🥰🥰❤️🔥❤️🔥

I think the packaging is so gorgeous, kinda sultry and top notch. Must be expensive to manufacture those. That red blush omg... i gasped and clutched my pearls when i saw it. So beatiful!

It's nice seeing Kaleidos' take on classic smokey neutrals! The collection is stunning, they did a steller job from the packaging to the actual product. That said...
I'm just not interested in the collection. The eyeshadows and blushes would be just be redundant in my makeup wardrobe, and I'm trying to be better about being critical of what I'm purchasing from now on.

I am so conflicted. I feel like I have the cool toned browns covered in my collection, but I’ve been expanding my blushes lately and these look beautiful. I promised myself no more lip purchases until I don’t have to wear a mask at work anymore, but I really love the lip clay formula.

ive been waiting for a new kaleidos collection because i love their shadows and want more. unfortunately this collection is not attracting me at all :( i wish they'd done a quad with 4 sparkly shades, or at least 2/4... those r the shades i love in my kaleidos palettes and why i continue to reach for them. ah well !!

Edit: Definitely getting at least the brown quad because I have been looking for the perfect textured taupe shimmer shade, and the shimmer in this quad looks like exactly what I have been looking for.

I went to bed early and woke up to this video! I kept checking yesterday and was hoping you would get this in PR before launch 😊 I was obsessed with the trunk last time but it's just collecting dust on my nightstand so I'm just going for the quads and blushes. YES! Thanks for the pre-launch review 💕 Def want a blush and the lip clay tins (I’m collecting those like Pokémon 🤦🏾♀️). Totally agree and wish they showed blushes on multiple skin tones.
The quads remind me of Netasha Denona… even the way the shades are named… as like instructions. I’m not mad at it… just saying. Cold brew reminds me of the eyeshadows in the glam face palette (maybe cooler toned though). Black jasmine reminds me of the mini zenon palette. Like the looks would have similar vibes.
I bought the deep glam palette (because I’m deeper skin tone) and wish the sparkly shades were more sparkly. These look pretty sparkly in the swatches so if I didn’t already have that I might get the cold brew. I’ve been thinking of getting the mini zenon so I have a black I can easily travel with… wonder how they compare and if I should get this quad instead 🤷🏾♀️
I ordered this collection to review too. Cool tones are right up my alley. I am so glad I didn't blow my $ on a collection last yr as nothing spoke to me. Just beautiful! Awesome looks! Eeek. Can't wait! I wish Kaleidos had quicker shipping options though

I always always want kaleidos collections
The packaging is giving me, if Claire's did Goth (sorry!) It just looks like a hokey stab at a sophistication. I think they have a killer concept but it needs better execution. I also think they were better off choosing a theme for the colorstory that fits their futuristic aesthetic. This reminds me of one of those cheap love hotels you can find in Japan or Korea...like what Asia thinks the Moulin Rouge looks like 🤷🏻♀️ Anyhoot, my all time favorite sophisticated black and silver color story goes to PMGLABS - the Dark Star kit (10s across the board!). I will say, I adore their Lip Clays - they aced the formula. It is a formula very familiar in the Asian beauty sphere and I'm hoping western brands jump on the bandwagon!

I am intrigued by that red blush. It reminds me of an old Urban Decay blush that was called Quiver. I’ve been looking for something like that forever!! It might be too pigmented for me, though!
Does the black shadow have sparkles in it or am I imagining it?
I think it might be fallout from the shimmer shade because in the individual swatch it looks totally matte.
I love the look and theming of this collection. Kaleidos knocks it out of the park with theming. And I appreciate that with this blush release they are actually thinking of POC unlike in the escape pod collection. On the other hand I don’t like their eyeshadow formula, find dimethicone based liquid lipsticks WAY more drying than normal liquid lipsticks, and find the brand itself kinda difficult to purchase from. Basically I like the concepts of everything but it’s a pass.
I am going for the lip clays all for. These are my favorite lip colors brown, crimson red, and mauve.

I love Kaleidos and was so excited to see your review!! This is the first collection I’m not really interested in…especially for the price.I like the packaging somewhat, happy they did blushes and I like the quad idea! Also I love the lip clay formula and love the new shades!! I’m just not completely in love with this, especially with all these beautiful palettes and products coming out! I definitely will purchase some blushes (the same two you like) and maybe the lightest lip clay…and I definitely have to get the new highlighter!!

I don’t really vibe with cool tones. But I love that packaging. It’s very classic and beautiful. Not chintzy or tacky.

I watched this like minutes before I got the lip bundle, and joyride! I actually want it for a contour effect with layering blushes. Oh and I finally got the flower punk palette. I want the Sanguine and the cold brew palette though. ☺️
The Blushes are really pretty. I like all the f them. However I'll have to wait a couple months. Just purchased a couple perfumes and the Hela palette, which covers my February and March budget.
It is pretty but with so much beautiful makeup coming out - I may be passing for now. And picking up some of my favorite pieces later on down the road. Like that quad with the black, the lilac+red+brown blushes... and possibly a lip clay or 2 from the Apple launch. I love seeing new blushes but I do wish there was a larger palette here, the same size as Angelicas collab. Nothing screaming that I NEED it. But I still would like some.
Personally I really want to try the blushes, but I am even more excited for the fact that I can buy the jewelry box on it own.
Something i thought as soon as i saw that red blush is that Lauren should incorporate it in an eye look and see how that goes but also do some 80's blush look where the look is really focused on that.
The peach comes across well on camera once you apply the blush.
I love a quality black, so I'm going to get that quad, but that's it. (The initial packaging reveal had me excited for a black/grey/pink/purple palette, which I was very on board for - the lip clay isn't my thing so was pretty disappointed when the biggest item wasn't another 15-pan eyeshadow palette in the Club Nebula type packaging). I appreciate the video as it's the only one I've seen for in my subscriptions for this collection (definitely overshadowed by Oden's Eye this week).
Ive been looking for a grey/black quad or quint I was thinking of getting ND’s Xenon palette but this one is really tempting me 😏

You made a very convincing video and Im not used to neutral looks personally. I hope at some point I'm able to afford the entire set. It's very beautiful. How well made do you think the box it came with is? Is it better than the flower pink series?
I'm interested in this collection, but I might have to reel in my enthusiasm. I don't do many neutral looks, and only 2 of those blushes have my eye. The lip clays, though. Thanks for saving my wallet from my impulse buying 😄
I never buy pink or purple toned blush so needed some for my kit so worked out better value to get the full collection (as I also like the lip clays) without the dresser prefer their more colourful collections but wanted to try their true black as I couldn’t get the green futurist last year think is discontinued!

You did a superb look with this whole collection. I am not planning on picking anything up since I am on a no buy, and to be fair, I surely have most of the shades if I look closely enough. The one thing I am dying to try though is there lip clays, but for some reason they seem to be very similar to the "peripera ink velvet" in their texture. If someone in the comments tried both formula, can they give me their thoughts on how the two compare to one another?
do the eyeshadows pop out / are magentic like the futurism palettes?
I want the entire collection just for the packaging! In reality, I'll probably get the red blush and the lip clay set in a few months, if it's still available. The quads are too basic for me and I won't be able to use the lightest shade in either one. Smeared Rouge is the perfect name for the formula type and aesthetic. I'm so glad the lip clay type formula is popular right now, it's my favorite kind of lipstick.
