After battling for more than a year, Mandi and Tyler Palmer were delighted to officially adopt their son. However, they had no idea how their little boy felt about the process. Then he uttered one word in court that broke them.
Mandi and her husband, Tyler, had both faced hardships in life. Indeed, Mandi had suffered with Crohn’s disease since she was a teen. And doctors had diagnosed U.S. Army veteran Tyler with severe post-traumatic stress disorder after he completed two tours of Afghanistan.
In each other, though, Mandi and Tyler found strength. They had first met before Tyler was sent to Afghanistan for the second time, when he was away for nine months. And while many relationships may have struggled in such circumstances, Mandi and Tyler grew ever closer.
Consequently, one month after Tyler had returned home from war, he asked Mandi if she would marry him. She agreed, and the couple tied the knot shortly afterwards. It was then that Tyler decided to quit the army and begin a new life with his wife in Perrysburg, Ohio.
Once they had a place to call home, then, the couple were keen to start a family. After years of disappointment, however, Mandi gave up on attempting to conceive. Even if it did happen, she reasoned, she wasn’t sure if her body would cope with the strain of both Crohn’s disease and pregnancy.
And that realization devastated the young couple. But given that the Palmers were both fighters, they weren’t going to give up on their dream of starting a family. So they decided to look at other options instead.
Writing for Love What Matters, Mandi subsequently revealed, “We were heartbroken and quickly found ourselves seeking other ways to grow our family and become parents. Because of the health battles we’ve been given, we weren’t the type of people to just ‘throw in the towel’ and let our dreams of becoming parents get shattered.”
It was then that Mandi and Tyler noticed that their local authority was calling out for foster parents. Instantly, they felt that it was a sign. “We were scared, but we knew God was pulling at our heartstrings and telling us that this is what we needed to do,” Mandi explained.
As a result, the couple spent the following months filling in forms, completing training and undergoing inspections to become foster-to-adopt parents. And it was worth the effort. Because, just days after they received their license, Mandi and Tyler received a call about a baby boy called Hunter.
At the time, Hunter was a little over a week old and in need of a loving home. Mandi and Tyler naturally agreed to take the infant in. So before they knew it, they’d become a household of three and foster parents to a darling little baby.

I was given away when I was 3 yrs old but not legally. I know my real parents but they don’t really care about me & the couple who took care of me did not also legally adopt me so when I was kid I didn’t really know where I belong. Im grown up now & with my own family and both my biological parents & the people who took care of me were all gone but sometimes I still remember my childhood without a true parents. Fortunately Through my hard work and prayers I became successful in my career and found a man who love me the first time I feel of being love & very supportive my husband.

The exact same way I got my son. Foster to adopt is a wonder program. I met my son at 3 days old and by 10 months old, he was mine. God is good.

We adopted our son and when the laws changed and soften a bit, he was able to find his birth mother and they met very recently. I was very happy that he did. I always wanted to thank her from the great son she gave us. Now, perhaps, I will be able to do just that. I can't wait for that day! But, guess which family will be attending his wedding?
Den Lair, tho I'm well advanced in years, I'm so thankful that my aunt and uncle raised me. They let me know from my youth who my real parents where, but from what I personally saw how he (my real father) treated his family I was so thankful and proud that a loving couple desired to raise me. And at my wedding my mama and my daddy where there, those are the one's who raised me and the words that my biological mother said to my mama where vile and obscene! But I was raise to honor your father and mother otherwise I think my response would had been slightly disturbing. True love, compassion and forgiveness will hold a family together!!! I tear up even now because they where the only true Mama and Daddy I had!!!

I have crohns disease too. I was one of the youngest people to be diagnosed along with my older sister. My sister has two children but my illness caused so many other complications that at 40 I'm terminal and I'm mostly bedridden. It brings me such joy to see this family adopt their gorgeous boy. I fostered kids but couldn't get pregnant. I now appreciate the small things and I have a strong mind so I fight every day. God bless this family.

Diana Reid adoption is a blessing! My daughter was shaken at 6 months old by her sperm donor while her bio-mom got high. She finally came to me at 2 and a half years old weighing 18 lbs. She's 28 now and that girl is my heart. She's permanently disabled because of her bio parents. They would have killed her if she wasn't taken away.

I’m adopted myself so when I saw this it made my day because it’s so hard to explain to people that were a family through love not through if we look like a family or through blood but through love. It’s not just hard to get the point across to class mates or people that we meet in public but even to my own uncle. So seeing this just makes my heart melt.💗 I have another adopted sibling he’s my brother. He’s older then me by 1 year. I have always wanted to give birth to at least one child and to adopt at least two children. If I can’t have a child when I’m older It would affect me but I wouldn’t try to have a procedure to try to have a child I would just adopt. I believe that there needs to be more people out there that should adopt a child not for money or so that they can feel loved but because they love that child and because they want to give them a forever home and loving parents.

I was in the foster care system and got adopted to a wonderful family. I remember how amazing it felt to finally not having to worry about being sent away to another foster home and to have someone to call my family officially. I may have been around 7, but it was still important for me. I wish to be a foster mother when I’m an adult so that I can give other kids a chance like my family did with me.

Not flesh of my flesh, nor bone of my bone but still miraculously my own! You didn't grow beneath my heart, but in it....something like that! I was adopted and my mom read me that poem all the time. Adoption is just one way for us all to end up where we are supposed too!!
