I’ll tell you what will happen. People will hate him again. If he does one tiny thing that rubs the fans the wrong way, people will treat him like the devil. They did when he made the prequels, and they did again when he defended Bob Iger. Even if he makes the best thing ever, if he stays with Disney (which he will) and stays with the current canon and doesn’t recanonized the EU, nothing will change.
Given that Lucas is a terrible director, I hope they have him as a consultant. He's an excellent idea man and visual effects guy. Just let better writers and directors that understand people do that work.

Honestly I would like to see George back in a creative management type of position. Ideally as president instead of Kathleen Kennedy but that's probably a pipe dream. George is a great idea man and his vision is unparalleled. I think he would be a great fit for overseeing the franchise as whole. He's also a fantastic businessman. However, his writing and directing... Well let's just say it leaves a bit to be desired as is evidenced by the prequels. George Lucas had total control over the prequels, and I find them completely unwatchable. So I don't hold much hope that they will be great films with him back in charge. This is the man who made the downfall of Anakin Skywalker - something that should have been epic - into a pedestrian, boring, inconsistent mess. He called all the shots on those films; and it highlights the fact that the original trilogy was very much more a collaborative thing. Filmmakers with too much power and money tend to make poor films. I still remember one of the behind the scenes videos where an obviously fed up CGI artist was told to make Yoda look sadder, and went really over the top in a passive aggressive display. It was clear that everyone was scared to say or suggest anything to Lucas, and this was the only way of reining him in. I knew then that any subtleties would go out if the window.
Ennh... Lucas has had an idea for a TV (and/or) small screen show (Star Wars: Underworld) for years. I'd be unsurprised if Disney lured Lucas back by offering to fund that.

Despite “fan backlash”, all three sequel movies made over $500 million at the box office. So did Rogue One… while I don’t have the exact numbers in front of me, that’s at least 2 billion before the “50% theater cut” (which, btw, is not accurate. It’s more like 35-38%)- so let’s call it one billion from box office. Then consider they have been selling STAR WARS ON EVERYTHING for the last 12 years… I would bet the merch alone is 3-5 billion. And they also give the specific number of 12 billion dollars as their return. Last time I checked, 12-4=8…. In order for them to have lost or not made a profit, they would have needed to make LESS THAN 4 billion. Granted, we are not at all considering production costs for the films- but just going from 8 billion instead of Zero, we can assume Disney didn’t SPEND 4 billion producing the movies and shows. I love Star wars of all shapes and sizes. But if i had myway id have done it slightly different. TFA begins the same, but instead of everyoen search for Luke, LUKE is searching for Rey, his daughter with Mara Jade and her brother Kylo Aka Ben. The film plays out the same way, Snoke and Luke have a showdown. Luke and Kylo. Rey almost a Jedi but shes angry and her powers scare Luke so he holds back. Film brings han, luke and Leia together several times. Their first scene: "How we doing?" Asks Leia. "Same as always", says Han. "That bad, huh?" Says Luke. Everyone but Leia witness Hans murder. We see fleeting moments of New Order doing cloning and we find out Snoke is a clone, with force powers.... cloning of Palpatine has begun but keeps failing.... TLJ A time jump. Rey is full on Jedi... she has to control Luke who wants revenge. Luke snd Kylos showdown turns into a mess, throwing AT ATs to the ground. Kylo mutders Mara Jade. The host of CANTO BRIGHT is Lando! More mentions of the cloning.... success! Closing scene has Palpatine clone open his eyes.... ROS Opening scene is an homage to the Universal monster movies of yore. Lots of big ugly equipment and the gathering of the Acolytes chanting and doing weird ceremonial shit to being their Emperor Palpatine to life! Anakin, Yoda, Ben, alongside Rey and Luke come back to the physical world to beat Palpatine who jumps from body to body as his clone bodies soon begin to deteriorate... his force powers intact though. ....

Sorry, I’m gonna call BS on one non-major-topic thing: Disney claiming they have yet to turn a profit from Star Wars. Despite “fan backlash”, all three sequel movies made over $500 million at the box office. So did Rogue One… while I don’t have the exact numbers in front of me, that’s at least 2 billion before the “50% theater cut” (which, btw, is not accurate. It’s more like 35-38%)- so let’s call it one billion from box office. Then consider they have been selling STAR WARS ON EVERYTHING for the last 12 years… I would bet the merch alone is 3-5 billion. Jesus H, I am so sick of hearing Disney cry poor.
Oh yeah, quick addendum- box office for Eps 7-9 and Rogue One are over 2.5 billion. Also, please see this article in the Hollywood Reporter (literally the most trusted trade mag for the film industry)- Disney THEMSELVES in a corporate shareholder meeting said the purchase of Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm has seen a 2.9 times and 3.3 TIMES RETURN ON INVESTMENT. And they also give the specific number of 12 billion dollars as their return. Last time I checked, 12-4=8…. In order for them to have lost or not made a profit, they would have needed to make LESS THAN 4 billion. Granted, we are not at all considering production costs for the films- but just going from 8 billion instead of Zero, we can assume Disney didn’t SPEND 4 billion producing the movies and shows.
They’re lying because the numbers are confusing and they’re hoping none of us will fact check them. Well, I’m glad to, thank you very much!
🤦♂️ chill bro. Disney isn’t “crying poor” on SW. No idea where you get that notion as they claim quite the opposite. It’s a reference to the hack job article Forbes published prior to the board vote attempting to refute Disney’s claims about the benefits of all their acquisitions and specifically Lucasfilm. Forbes claimed that they haven’t turned a profit but ignored all parks, merch, ILM, Skywalker Sound, and a host of other ancillary revenue etc. Nevermind that the Lucasfilm acquisition is a very long term play for Disney & a piece of the puzzle to have more appeal to a males & not just Dis princess fans.

They can correct it. Have Luke come out off a "Maintained Force Coma" by Grogu. Yes, he could have failed trying to save Leia. Like Dallas, it as all a Dream. He wakes up to Mara, Han, Chewie, Son Ben, Niece Jana and Nephew Jacon, R2 and 3PO. Thrawn is back.....Boom Correct 7-8-9 but, 10-11-12. Same actors but, Rey is Jana, Ben is Jacon, Po is Ben Skywalker....Makes sense. No Carrie...No Issue.
Have him a consultant of sorts. A go-to creative well.
I want a real sequel to ROTJ. Recast our charactters. Oick it up months after Palpatine is dead. Just like Africa, no governments, anyone taking over.... meets Mara Jade.
I love Star wars of all shapes and sizes. But if i had myway id have done it slightly different.
TFA begins the same, but instead of everyoen search for Luke, LUKE is searching for Rey, his daughter with Mara Jade and her brother Kylo Aka Ben.
The film plays out the same way, Snoke and Luke have a showdown. Luke and Kylo. Rey almost a Jedi but shes angry and her powers scare Luke so he holds back.
Film brings han, luke and Leia together several times.
Their first scene:
"How we doing?" Asks Leia.
"Same as always", says Han.
"That bad, huh?" Says Luke.
Everyone but Leia witness Hans murder.
We see fleeting moments of New Order doing cloning and we find out Snoke is a clone, with force powers.... cloning of Palpatine has begun but keeps failing....

A time jump. Rey is full on Jedi... she has to control Luke who wants revenge.
Luke snd Kylos showdown turns into a mess, throwing AT ATs to the ground. Kylo mutders Mara Jade.

Opening scene is an homage to the Universal monster movies of yore. Lots of big ugly equipment and the gathering of the Acolytes chanting and doing weird ceremonial shit to being their Emperor Palpatine to life!
Anakin, Yoda, Ben, alongside Rey and Luke come back to the physical world to beat Palpatine who jumps from body to body as his clone bodies soon begin to deteriorate... his force powers intact though. ....
