N&W Class J vs NYC Niagara - 1000 tons - Trainz

(Round 2 starting at 11:25) Hello everyone. Our dear friend, The Brougham Gamer, suggested a race between two famous railroads, the N&W and NYCRR. We would like to thank him with this video, for the tremendous support he has given us almost from our first upload just a few months ago.👍 We also note many loyal supporters who gave us a lot of useful suggestions and ideas in the past few months, we can't thank you enough! 🤗

In this video, the legendary N&W Class J was hauling 990 tons of the "Powhatan Arrow" challenged the renowned NYCRR Niagara which had 1000 tons heavyweight Pullman cars behind her. Although the Niagara had 79" driver (driving wheel) and 6700hp power output, the Class J had 80000lb Tractive Effort, 69" driver and capable to reach at least 113mph in real life. Do you know what factor would determinate the top speed of a steam engine? An engine with the larger driver but lower Tractive Effort (TE) or an engine with higher TE but lower power output? 🤔

I like the N&W J Class 4-8-4 number 611 much better than the NYC Niagara 4-8-4. The N&W J Class number 611 & its 14 sisters traveled in the mountainous parts of West Virginia,Eastern Kentucky & the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia while the NYC Niagara mostly traveled over the Water Level Route & more flat land of the Midwest states of Ohio, Indiana & Illinois.

I love seeing N&W 611 running side by side with NYC Niagara, It reminds me of Daylight 4449 and UP 844 (8444) running side by side to LAUPT, and over Cajon Pass in 1989. Since 4449 wear the Orange skirting while 611's is Red, and NYC Niagara and UP 844 are both similar especially with Elephant ears!

I love how this is on a British map to where loading gauges are smaller as we see BIG AMERICAN POWER basically destroying British Tunnels and overpasses and the locos and rolling stock are so close to each other that I can imagine insults being shouted to each other lol
