Why yes, absolutely great advice. I live in Nor California, and you do not get into the water, w/out a wet suit on. But on most beaches the waves and undertow will quickly drag you into 55 degree water (sometimes colder). We get people swept off of jetties, that regularly die here, as well. Y'all have great water there, I must say. But...we do have our steelhead and salmon runs though. Have never shore fished at the ocean. Must try it. Have to find a calmer bay though. That Pacific is one crazy and dangerous thing sometimes.
I live in South Africa and seeing how fishing is done in USA compared to here is amazing. Everything is totally different, your fish fish stocks are amazing!!!!!!!!. I noticed your spool with the blue braid is winding on unevenly, be careful of wind knots as i had that problem until i was informed. Thanx for a cool episode

I've gotten stocked up on all my terminal tackle and rigs tied and bought some nice 13's this year. Going to try some fishgum I'm still a bigger believer in live bait but want to give them a shot. What colors would your recommend for the Daytona/New Smyrna area. Mostly green water with occasional blue water.

I once hooked a beast that took all my line I couldn’t stop it even used my thumb to slow down the reel . I think it was a shark because it didn’t stop once I set the hook it swam back to hell .
I caught a nice whiting which surprised me on a MR17 mirror lurer in the creek network next to Sunset Beach NC bridge! Then got a keeper spec trout soon after on the same mirror lurer in May of this year.
Stepping on a stingray barefoot and getting stung took the fun out of wade fishing for me. At least in water that I can't see through. Stingray sting hurt , worse than you'd imagine.
ohhh, yes! In '84 I went surfing and stepped on one and he stabbed me in the lower calf. ouchies!! the ER sewed me up, but left the barb in there. I got a bit of gangrene. a different ER dug out the barb and the dead meat. the skin graft fell off. now, 37 years later the scar is almost gone. brutal.

When catching big reds I sometimes have to follow them down the beach otherwise you can't get them over the last sandbar. I'm fishing without another person fishing in sight. Just have to run down the beach forty miles or so to get away from the crowds.

no such thing as a "nice" string ray imo! I saw a ray this big circling my line at the Sunset Beach NC pier in May. I pulled my line in carefully, did not want to hook a big ray from the pier and disrupt everyone's fishing!

Maybe your knot broke, or the fished turned or your line was nicked by another fish between you and the one you had on. Might be the weak spot in your line where the guide on the end of your rod weakened it when you're not fishing? The last one most people never think of or realize. But you can see it when you unhook the line to start fishing,there is always a kink where the end of your rod is in your line. I learned about it watching a test about the differences in fishing line ,and things that can cause weak spots...

Nah man, you're right on with not getting in the water, but sometimes you have to walk down the beach. I live in the Savannah GA area, we get huge sharks in the surf. I'm talking 7ft+ 350lbs+ range fish. If you're using a 6000-8000 size reel and hook into those, it'll spoil you in no time. I've had many shark be maybe 50 yards on the beach he beach, but run 300 yards out on me parallel to the beach in no time. Sometimes you've got to give chance down the beach

What am I missing here? That sting Ray looked like it was a couple feet across. When I snorkeled in south Florida I regularly swam right over them in 4-10 feet of water that were 6+ feet across.

One thing though as mentioned at the end,you do not go chasing the fish like the dolt did in the video and you def don't go in the water chasing it.Another thing you don't do is get in the water with the ray like the Fishgum dolt did.One quick shot and that ray could have embedded it's barb in him.Maybe he should change the channel to Fishdolt...

When catching stingray . When they stick themselves to the floor . Strum your line with your fingers it will bring the stingray back up and speed the process of the fight
Man getting in the deep water fighting a big fish is asking for trouble. I live in eastern nc and fish hatteras and ocracoke and we dont do that up here.
I thought you didn't go into the surf because the oyster beds in the carolinas. AND ..... I've wade fished for miles in NC. But it was never as fun as in Florida.

Got to know how to fish them.....if they bury at the the bottom you pull tight and strum the line like a guitar to get them moving again. Rays are good eating,if you like scallops and order them from a restaurant you're very likely eating ray instead....lol A lot of restaurants do that...
My thoughts exactly. That chest cam just isn't doing it. It managed to show the head of one Lady and missed the Whiting completely but showed the pyramid sinker. Adjust it differently or maybe try to hold them up higher so the lens can get a good shot. I know it isn't easy to film while you're fighting a fish so don't mean to sound too critical. And I hope nobody is angry with me for my comment because I only offer my comment as a suggestion.
Your advice about not walking after your fish is wrong, IMO. Where I fish if you don’t follow your fish down the beach, you will hear about it from the other fisherman and not in a friendly way. Most people when they see you hooked up and the fish heading their way will reel in and get out of your way, but allowing a big ray or shark to pull 200+ yds of line down the beach is not the way to do it. The quicker you get straight up and down on the fish, the better. But you are correct about not getting into the water with them. Nothing good comes from that.nice video, I need to get down to Florida more often.

Up in New York on Long Island beaches I catch stingrays the size on my F350 truck hood. That is a 60 lb puppy. Keep up the great clips.

Some of these guys don’t have the line capacity or the adequate reels to fight large fish so they have to go chasing.

Very good eating. Called mock scallop, use cookie cutter to make round medallions. They eat scallops so taste like them
