It's gonna be short lived. Calling for rain for next 3 days.

Coming late to your video, thanks for posting, always like to see the 986 working. Wanted to ask if you run liquid ballast in your rear tires? I have the liquid and two sets or rear wheel weights on the rears and have no spinning problems when plowing with an IH 4 bottom plow. My rear tires are also old and about like yours.

When I originally got the 986 it had 34s on it. When I put these step up rims and 38s I didn't load them. When I was hauling silage that fall I almost jack knifed going down a hill. The next day I had the tires loaded. Each tire has 100 gal water and 7 bags of calcium cloride.
These were Firestone 23 degree bias to save some money because of also doing the rims. Radials definitely last a lot longer. Somewhere in my vids is one because I changed tires not long after this. They're Harvest King bias tires. Again because of money at the time and the neighbor I bought them off of gave me a hell of a deal for them.

Put weights on the front and watch it plow better. I pull 4 18" roll over plows all day.

What's your diagnosis from the way it sounds is wrong with it?

The Ghost Of Lucias Clay idk man. Our Massey 165 sounded like that. Still haven’t fixed it. Almost sounds like a head gasket

@@cameronnalley3197 l know it sounds like it's missing at idle but sounds better underload. It's not lacking power. With the exhaust pipe at hood level it barely has a miss but with the long straight pipe seems to amplify the way it sounds.
It was completely overhauled within 300 hours ago including rebuilt injectors. My guess is an injector is not right or maybe valves need readjusted. Other than the miss it runs great. Fluid levels all hold where they should so I'm not sure what to look for either but yes the miss bothers me also but doesn't seem to be a problem. Thanks

The Ghost Of Lucias Clay yeah it seems to kinda go away once it’s revved up and working. Hope it’s alright and not a major issue. Hopefully we can get our MF 165 going for hay season. Sucks trying to do hay with 1 tractor but it’s looking like that’s what it’s come down to. Mine sounds like a head gasket and it sounds like it’s running on 3 cylinders instead of 4. Weird. Have a great day

@@cameronnalley3197sometimes it's hard to know what to look for, it could be several things from a head gasket, to a bad valve, bad injector, bad rings and so on. Just a matter of figuring it out.
I have a couple of other videos with this tractor chopping hay and running a bale chopper you could see if it sounds better. Also one where I changed radiator hoses and I think I ran it without the exhaust pipe.
