- This week Jim and Justin have been testing the Woodsrunner buttplate program that they have been working on for many many weeks and we have success! We are getting the first buttplates made and the process worked out. Jim shows the process we use for CNC machining the complicated part.

All I can say is thank you for machining these butt plates. I spent about an hour cleaning up a machined woodsrunner butt plate. Very easy to clean up and took little more than some fine files and fine sand paper
Patiently waiting for the “We started shipping the Woodsrunner kits today.”video.
Yeah, same here. 🙂
When I built my Southern Mountain rifle, shaping and fitting the butt plate was by far the most pain-in-the-butt, frustrating part of the project. I'm so happy to know I won't have to go through that again when I put together my Woodsrunner...
After watch several of Your videos I will be working towards purchasing one of Your Rifle kits, at near 70 I have wanted a flintlock long gun for many years, there was one I saw at the family farm years ago and I don't know where it went, I wished I could have had it, as it was something my grandfather would have used at some time in his life. Thank You for your videos highlighting your products and all the thought into machining and creating your kits....Thank You
Thanks for taking us through the whole process. You guys are truly revolutionizing the muzzleloader kit industry, making it possible, through modern fabrication technology, for a novice to actually build a historically correct colonial arm with minimal skills and tools. I wish this sort of kit was around when I built my first muzzleloader.
Absolutely amazing. Could you imagine what the folks in 1760 would have thought of this?
thanks so much!
Always exciting when you guys share new stuff with us! Still building my Colonial kit, looking forward to more builds when I'm done, great video!
This is going to be another winner.
I can say for sure that I will be buying this piece in the near future! I love my mountain rifle in .40 caliber, but ever time I look at it I see something I did wrong, this one seems very beginner friendly for sure.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother and everyone else thank you for sharing these videos
I just finished my first project gun, an Investarms Bridger Hawken percussion rifle. I'm looking forward to a Woodsrunner now. I have never shot a flintlock before I am excited to get going. Great video
I am just getting into the world of flintlocks. I was pleasantly surprised to find out someone was building kits so close to me. I'm just over in Lisbon. Looking forward to picking up a kit this year.
Thanks Joshua! We are looking forward to doing business with you also!
This will be my first Kit.. I've never built a flint lock as I've always been worried about ruining it and this looks me proof!
Getting a jeweler's head band like Jim to help with my kits and anxious to get good enough to do one of his kits justice!
Very nice Jim!
Thank you!
That is so nice. really good work. and you are exactly right inletting a buttpad is a really big challenge for someone like me who is new to inletting.
Probably get the Woodsrunner sometime next year ...love my SMR its a great kit
Who would have thought a few years ago that soon we will have a flintlock rifle kit that is as easy to assemble as a modern AR15 rifle
Looks so nice almost better than the one I did for my Colonial. I’m wondering if you will take this process to the trigger guard? That was a real time consuming part of my build and I never got it to look like I thought it should. So proud to have a Kibler gun. I tell people they are so well made you really don’t build it you really just assemble it.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
I can't wait to get mine.
I'm gonna call her "sweet lips."
Jim how about the trigger Guard and brass wiping stick brass require filing and sanding or they are castings also is there a way to adjust the single set trigger and how much filing is required on the barrel for new woods runner kit
I’m curious if you knew a lot about CNC or did you train yourself or did you higher someone with the experience. Amazing work.
Drop that end mill down axial and use the whole cutter, will save LOTS of time.
Waiting in anticipation of shipping. This is a long way from the CVA Pennsylvania long rifle kit I cut my teeth on in late 79 early 80.
Very long way… thank you!
Love your channel and your expertise suggest you find a lost wax casting company I think you will then finish up with a product that is basically finished.
Jim uses lost wax casting already. There is another video showing his process .
Machining is more accurate
These do look good. Are these going to be produced in steel as well?
Just brass
Not only are your models cheaper than everyone else, they are much nicer too.
Thank you!
Are these ever going to be available in the small calibers ?
Is the $300 for the lock above the kirt price?
These are the only calibers we're offering for awhile. The $300 for the lock is separate.
When everything is said and done will customers be able to buy individual parts?
You can purchase individual parts. Contact info@kiblerslongrifles.com or 330-551-5844
please tell me there is a left handed version of this rifle ??? I'm pretty sure sur cnc machines have a "mirror function" ???
😆
Is this the Haas for barrels, stocks, or did you get another machine?
We have a new dedicated haas for stocks
I have a old shotgun that needs a new stock and hand hold. I see your you tube video and wondered if you could help me with that. How can I get hold of you
I'm hoping it won't take too much longer for you to move forward in time to period rifles that had percussion cap locks. I'm building a cheaper kit and experimenting with nickel plate, trying to make a silk purse from a sow's ear really. So many little and big problems that just can't be corrected. I really want something nice I can pass down to step son or perhaps grand child. I built an old CVA kit decades ago when I was about 13, and spent a teenager's amount of attention to detail, probably going to keep it at that stage. Now building a new kit and finding that modern times have made the kits even lower quality in my current price range. Still going to try and make this one nice, but know it won't be fantastic. I need a better quality kit from the start, and you seem to provide that (and info on building), so I eventually want one of your kits.
I wish I would've never bought this cheaper kit it seems like a waste of money I built one and immediately sold it to buy this wood runner
I think we will eventually have a caplock
@@kiblerjim I did finish my cheap kit, it turned out OK and shoots pretty well so far. I taught my self a few things about nickel plating and gave me more practice with the wood work. That said, it makes me want to build something really nice. With the difficulty of finding caps, I'm rethinking maybe add a flint to my collection in either 45 or 50 to use common ammo to my other two rifles. Or maybe down in the 30 cal range for smaller stuff. Also thinking smooth bore in the 20 gauge size for shot or patched ball. Choices...
Will be the old cast version available as well?
Not in this kit. Just machined
