Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at an another Modern Talking reaction made possible via PATREON with "Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. For Love)." Modern Talking takes takes on a wild ride of synths and catchy chorus lines with insane falsettos! More guilty pleasures, but I'm not afraid to admit it!

😂 hard to understate how huge these guys were in the 80s
Great reaction and great song. Every Modern Talking song is a classic.
I only heard this song for the first time in 2024 (Brother Louie was their only known song where I live) and I'm hooked!
"Geronimo's Cadillac," "Don't Worry," "Arabian Gold" and "Charlene" have much higher falsetto choruses. And indeed, not all of that chorus was sung by them. 1/4 was Thomas and the other 3 fourths by Köhler, Scholz and Wiedeke. So Modern Talking was a studio project of five people and a band of only two guys on stage, but the whole concept was concocted by Bohlen's deviously proficient mind (just look at how everything he made and produced turned to gold) and skilled sound producer Luis Rodriguez.
"You Can Win If You Want" is another great hit from them. Worth of reaction too

the video vision is shortened compared to the single. In the original single version, after the second chorus, there is a 15-second electric guitar solo before the chorus is repeated again.

Solo recording by Thomas Anders "Es geht mir gut heut' Nacht" (1984) might be worth a peek as well. Already written and produced by Dieter Bohlen, just right before they formed Modern Talking. Their typical sound but sung in German (as the song title already suggests).

With Modern Talking in the 80's I noticed that every time the music videos are shorter than even the normal single version. In the usual version of this song there is a guitar solo after the 2nd chorus and then again 2 choruses before the fade-out, but not in the music video. I don't why they always shortened their songs in the music videos but they did that almost every time in the 80's. Plus on "Atlantis..." the guitar solo was amazing, too bad it's not in here.
On the contrary, I think the MV version of Atlantis Is Calling sounds better than the CD version

Try some other Euro disco songs. Valerie by Joy, Colder than Ice by Grant Miller, You're a Woman by Bad Boys Blue, Touch in the Night by Silent Circle.

Oh yes, the Nora necklace! They wanted an attention-grabbing, unique token, and then as a joke his then-girlfriend recommended this and it worked! Obviously they didn't sing the falsetto parts themselves, and their voices are heavily improved by electronics. Nevertheless, I love their sound.
The falsetto part in those early MT years was not sung by them but by 3 or 4 guys and their names are known : Rolf Köhler, Michael Scholz, Detlef Wiedeke and (on early albums) Birger Corleis. It's a well documented fact. I doubt in the early 80's technology was that much used to improve vocals. Nowadays yes but in the 80's double-tracked and treble might be used but auto-tune it's doubtful.
He need to listen the 90's remix album.
