Nice vidéo, i also went to Yokosuka and Dobuita in 2023 to achieve this teenager dream of mine :). It's nice to visit this district which inspired the game and also to see an authentic japanese neighbourhood not reshaped by mass tourism.
For future visitors, you should always ask politely if you can take a photo (Shashin o totte mo īdesu ka?) or vidéo (Bideo o totte mo īdesu ka?) ;)
i think the one thing that's changing is the amount of parking lots here 🤣🤣🤣
Visited tokyo and wanted to make a day trip to dobuita, but i ran out of time. Maybe next time :) Thanks for the awesome video!

I have to chuckle though because there was no doubt a point in time when yokosuka locals thought they were tripping 😂 "who the hell are these random people that keep coming here, wearing the same brown jacket, filming the vending machines and shadow boxing in the parking lot? 😂

I was just there a few days ago. It was my third time going there. I went there the first time in my 20s, then in my 30s. A lot has changed every time i have visited obviously since its by decades.
Maybe they will add even more parking lots in the next ten years 😁😁😁
Very, very cool video. I went to Tokyo almost 15 years ago but never went to Yokosuka. You mean to tell me none of the shops had ANY type of Shenmue merchandise?? Makes no sense. Did you eat there? Thanks for making the video with t eh Shenmue effects.
yeah I didn't see any merch and yes ate tempura with noodles and saki and sprite, it was great 😃

I've always wondered: Is Yu Suzuki at least somewhat of a celebrity in Yokosuka? I'm asking because , based on this video, Shenmue 1 seems to be almost 100% accurate to the actual town, including the distance between certain locations such as the dojo, the temple, and the local shops. Plus, given that Shenmue inspired a number of folks to visit this place (ex: the creator of this video, of course) and presumably buy souvenirs from the shops, this game must've done some good for their tourism.
That's why I was wondering what Yokosuka residents think of this game.
