  • James Graham was a farmers son and champion Highland Games athlete from Kincardine; he was born in 1890 and was junior Scottish champion in both 1909 and 1910. He was wounded by shrapnel during WW1 but later returned to competing. Composed after a few drams in tye Royal British Hotel in Dundee in 1922. The music was supplied by Janice Oakes, James Graham's granddaughter.
