In this video we go over the New Balance Fresh Foam BB V2:
Cushion saw a major improvement from the previous version - this full-length Fresh Foam X midsole finally gave us something close to what we were hoping for when they first introduced this series. It has excellent impact protection, bounciness and comfort on feet. Traction remains at a top-tier level of performance, dust pick up is not a problem and they have an amazing grip on all different types of courts. You can safely go ahead with your true size for the best fit, and this is a wide foot friendly shoe. Materials have nice quality, breathability turned out better than I expected - overall this was a joy to play in.

I bought these and I have one big problem with them which caused me to return them. They run wide, lots of cushion, and your foot is high off the ground. I quickly found that when I was making cuts or hard moves, the containment wasn't there for me. The cushion isn't caged so that means it just compresses and I felt like I could roll my ankle if I wasn't careful. It wasn't the best feeling and I am a skinny tall guy. Other than that, the shoe has good traction and materials. But the lack of stability was the killer for me. Also, I forgot to add that the heel has a slight curve all the way around. That wouldn't be a problem usually, but again, the cushion does well for impact protection but doesn't offer much on the side of support. I've played in my New Balance 623's and felt more support with those (They aren't basketball shoes, but i like to play in them)
I had a similar experience - wasn’t a deal breaker for me though but your description is spot-on!
Height off the ground is important!
I solved this by replacing the insole with the move game day insole. Without, the shoes feel more soft and a little unstable. With it, they are perfect - the harder insole adds just the right amount of stability and you can still get the benefit of the foam

I got these and as a person who plays 3 times a week, I absolutely love them! They even look better in person. They come with grey laces too, I changed them and they look even better.

Hey @chrisserrano8885 did you ever have an issue where you get blisters around your pinky toes? Seems like the stitching on the inside is exposed causing a rough rubbing feel against that pinky toe area in the toebox. Wanted to see if you had a similar experience. Thanks for your help!
@@michaelmlinhey, I didn’t have that issue with these but with the Jordan 38s I did. With the 38s I went a half size up. I do wear basketball cushion socks, all are made thicker but the ones I love are from Amazon. The Amazon ones are softer, and you can get like a 4 pack for a good price. They are pros and cons with these elite socks no matter what company. The con is when I play for long a time, my feet sweat so much from these socks and that’s when I have that issue with the pinky toe and blistering. I am an avid basketball player, most shoes would cause this due to sweaty socks. The pro with these kind of socks they do provide more cushioning. I’m so sorry for blabbering so much, I hope this helps 🙏🏽

I LOVE the old school colorways of version 1. I haven't been interest in a US company shoe in a longgg time. If they drop in price and get a classic colorway I may try. ps And 1 had a great purple shoe a few years ago. I got it but hard to find- I think it was a special canadian raptors release back when vanfleet was there.
And 1 Attack 2.0 Van Vleet colorway. Red one too with black raptor claw marks on them. They’re at Shoebacca online and eBay for pretty cheap rn broski.

My experience is that New Balance and Way of Wade are the best bang for the buck right now.
I haven’t bought a pair of Nike’s for over a year.
I tried the AE1’s but I had to sell them because my foot shape doesn’t work with the shoe.

I had to stop buying Nike too, they’re all way too narrow and they fall apart quicker than any other brand
Nike is getting by on reputation at this point and their price point keeps going up. There was a noticeable drop off in their quality at a few different times. 1st was post 2013. 2nd and worst has been post 2017.

Great review! I have seen some other reviews on the cream color-way and there seems to be an issue with traction and dust pickup on those, did you by any chance change out the laces? That was the other issue I noticed people were having, it seems that the laces came undone easily.
Thanks! Oh I didn’t do the lace swap yet, so far they’ve been fine for me - just standard laces, lockdown and everything. These are quite wide in the midfoot so maybe the foot shape of the person contributes to the experience too.
The cream color way also has a rubber outsole whereas this one has a translucent outsole I believe. Perhaps the translucent outsole performs better on this shoe.
Yo Tommy nice review as always. I just got these and experienced pinching at the top of my pinky toes.. did you experience this too? I hope it goes away eventually because I'm a fan of the cushioning otherwise.
Hey, thank you! Umm no not from my experience actually, so can’t relate to that. For me it’s a pretty spacious fit going TTS and I had no pinching/discomfort anywhere. Hopefully that goes away for you later!

Hey Tommy ! I am a 6ft tall Power forward/center. I am really looking for a new pair of shoes. I was in love with the harden vol 7 and still use those till this day. But I don’t know which shoe to pick next, I’m I between these 3 shoes which do you strongly personally recommend if I have to pick one. I’m I between the fresh foam bb v2, gt 2 jump, and the harden volume 8. Which do you recommend more ?
Hey. Harden Vol. 7 is indeed a beast in its own! Those 3 are honestly all great for your position - if you’d like to try something different, I’d recommend the Fresh Foam BB V2. Cushion is about the same level if not better, traction is superb it’s just that stability isn’t going to be as good.

As a wide footer i had major sizing problems with the two wxy v4 and fresh foam BB (first version) because they ran too long for me. As i sized down the fit was too snug for me.
Does the FFBB v2 have the same fit as the other NB shoes?

Hey. It’s hard to compare tech directly since it might turn out a little differently on different models - WOW 10 is still the best option imo if you prioritize bounciness.
I am a little worried about being so high off the ground. - also, I went with a 10.5 in the AE1, harden volume 8, and am a 10.5 in way of wade shoes. But- I am an 11 in all Nike shoes. What size should I get?

TWO WXY V4 is a safer pick. Fresh Foam BB V2 may feel too high off the ground for some, just my opinion but both are amazing shoes.

Giannis Immortality 3 is a better shoe overall to me, but the Harden Stepback 3 outsole is super durable.

is this more comfortable/better impact protection than AE1? are they narrow? i tried Twowxy v4. they are the narrowest shoes in the world for me i cannot even put my foot in it mind you i did one size up.
No they’re not narrow, pretty wide foot friendly as mentioned. I have slightly wider feet and the TWO WXY V4 fits me perfectly fine - so we might be able to relate here on their fit. AE 1 should be a great option for you regardless, these two are about the same level.

I tried two wxy v4, my true to size (13) was way too narrow. I tried 14 and the width worked, but then they were way too long. I tried 13 2E and they fit perfect.
I tried these Fresh Foam BB v2 and they felt decent at my true to size, 13. Not nearly as narrow as two wxy v4, much more wide foot friendly.

Is the heel cushion comparable to other shoes on the market - even ones from within the last few years? Just trying to get an idea what it’s like.
I was able to try on the two way v4. I did like the fresh foam cushioning on the lateral side. Is the fresh foam bb 2 like this or different? Overall I didn’t like the dual foam on the two way. The hard foam on the inside felt weird when mixed with the soft foam on the outside to me.
🙏🙏 These guys are pretty unique in their own, even a little bit softer compared to the TWO WXY V4. But quite similar with how the cushioning feels, more elevated on feet. If you didn’t like the TWO WXY’s, I honestly don’t think you’ll enjoy these much. For me it’s something very different and I quite enjoy this type of cushion / bounciness plus traction is amazing.

Thank you! I think Micro G tops them all, old-school but gets the job done. Then Bounce, but Bounce turns out quite differently on each model apparently based on my experience…
