@@DDELFIERRO I just realized I could have ripped off the line from the "Forty Year Guy." _"You tellin' me for forty years I been sayin' "Dun" instead of "Bum"? Huuugh! Ain't no way!"_ 😂😂
I had the privilege, along with my best friend, to install a home theater in Burt's Beverly Hills home (formerly Dan Rowan's home) when he and Lonnie were still together. Prominently displayed was a very large, and absolutely beautiful portrait of Dom. They were the best of friends, and you knew that they loved each other. ❤
I was an extra on Burt's last movie. He'd had a series of strokes, couldn't really walk, could barely talk, and was looking rough, but the entire time he was smooth working every 25 year old women on set, and they were still responding. Burt was Burt till the end.
@@joenelson3037 You're right. It wasn't the last one. It was the 2nd to last film Category 5. Filmed partly in Gulfport MS. I was the guy walking into a Dominos pizza for 3 seconds. They also never paid me the $75 for the day. The check bounced twice cus filmmakers are scumbags. I got to meet Burt at the premiere party though so that was cool.
I was a student of Burt and Dom at Burt's school. They made me the actor that I am. 34 years later and I'm still working. One day, I was asked to go help Dom run his lines for Burt's TV show BL Stryker. I spent a funny, weird afternoon with Dom helping him learn his lines. When we were done, we drove to a local seafood place and had dinner. As the patrons noticed who it was, he started sketching cartoons and caricatures for the folks around us. He'd make them on napkins and make a big deal of everyone. They felt special. He had been sleepy all day, but when the fans were around him, he clicked on and made everyone laugh.
A gentleman wouldn't have beat the s**t out of Sally field!don't get me wrong I'm still a big fan of Burt's but it's really disappointing when your heroes turn out to be nothing of the kind.
I remember hearing a story about the time Dom met Mae West for the first time when he starred in her movie Sextet, he immediately started imitating the way she talked "Uh... please to me you miss West..." and she played along "Uh.... is that how I sound?", and it went back and forth like that for a few minutes until they both burst out in hysterical laughter, it's truly a pity it wasn't caught on camera! That's the kind of guy he was, just a non-stop laugh riot, Mel Brooks said he literally had to factor in time for "Dom making people totally lose it laughing" into shooting schedules when working with him.
I have always admired Burt Reynolds for one thing. He never forgot where he came from. He made mistakes in his life as we all do, But he was always down to earth and people. Which is a rare thing in that industry.. To stay true to who you are and surround yourself with like minded people. His films were, in the main, light comedies that was really about the everyman. I suspect in a hundred years his films will still be relevant and enjoyed. Because people will always be people. Who didn't want to be the Bandit even if for a moment. Didn't want to go on a mad cap race across the country with friends. Rest in Peace, You will never be forgotten.
Oh Burt! I love & miss you so much! I love & miss Dom so much, as well. This world has depleted and shrunk and is far less without you both. Thank you for all of the years you gave us your remarkable presence. xx
I get so sick of the potshots that Sally Field throws out at Burt every chance she gets. Her career was a joke until she hooked up with him, and I doubt that Burt was jealous of her Oscar win. Hollywood hated Burt because he was a middle class Southerner. They really hated him when Orson Welles made the announcement that Burt was an excellent filmmaker. I am 66 years old and Burt provided me with a lot of entertainment. "White Lightning" was my favorite, but "The Longest Yard" was damn good too.
Burt Reynolds will always live in our hearts , he will always be remembered by his fans and the actors that shared the films with him. We will see you again, Burt.....
I remember watching Dom DeLuise on tv. He would be on a movie or on a talk show like The Tonight Show. He was the same every time. Crazy funny and never EVER was a mean guy by talking rude or complaining about something or someone. You could tell he had a heart of gold. I miss seeing him on tv.
there was one (of the many) movie(s) that Burt and Dom made, titled The End (1978), it was about Burt's character finding out that he had something incurable and he was going to die (this was a comedy, by the way...), so he decided to commit suicide. he was put in the hospital where he met another patient (Dom DeLuise) who tried to help him commit suicide...
I hope that, when he declined those lifetime achievement awards, he also threatened to take those rosary bleeds and stuff them up their noses. My mother once decided to have a family night out, and hey, let's go see this new movie, something about "Smokey Bear". Well, when Jackie Gleason got out of the car and got started, we learned some new words -- "scumbum" came later when they dubbed the movie for TV -- and I've been a fan of the entire cast ever since.
One of the guys the both of them Don lived in the same neighborhood in Brooklyn. Pick up Bert in 80s from my friends limo business , very easy going n kind .Real Men may they be resting and hoping they found there Creator .
Yes, Dom DeLuise was a marvellous comic actor, and one of the best in the business ever. But Dom also was an outstanding dramatic actor. Unfortunately, Hollywood, with its typecasting fixations, too often overlooked him for serious roles. But here's a prominent example where they did not: czcams.com/video/4MuuyFBzmdQ/video.html
Dom may have been a great friend to have around, but I never particularly liked his style of humor. Acting "silly" isn't necessarily funny. He seemed like he thought he should always be "on" and everything out of his mouth should make you laugh. Robin Williams did the same thing. I may be in the minority here but may they both RIP.
It was a "phone in" for when Dom DeLuise won a Lifetime Achievement award. Burt Reynolds was probably too sick to attend in person. He had a lot of health issues toward the end.
Was anyone else expecting Dom to leap out and go “BUM BUM BUMMMMMM! Captain Chaos!!!”
Is it "Bum?" I've been saying "Dun" for forty years!

Watch them together in The End!
Definitely have to appreciate these takes that display respect and love for a fellow actor.
What a wonderful Man he was! Burt was a Living Legend! I miss him!
Dom ate at my great aunts restaurant, he also made the greatest Cesar ever.

He always thought highly of himself (Burt). Was never a fan but God bless him up there in heaven.
