Adipose tissue exists in three colors: white, brown, and beige. We need to lose the white adipose tissue.
List of hormones involved in body weight metabolism:
Insulin: Secreted by the pancreas, insulin plays a vital role in regulating blood glucose (sugar).
Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine (T3): Produced by the thyroid gland, T4 and T3 regulate energy metabolism. Low levels of these hormones can lead to a slower metabolic rate and easier fat accumulation.
Ghrelin and Leptin: These two hormones are involved in regulating hunger and food intake in the body:
Ghrelin: Known as the "hunger hormone," ghrelin is primarily secreted by the gastric cells in the stomach and plays a significant role in stimulating appetite and increasing food intake. Ghrelin levels rise before meals and decrease after eating, signaling the body that it is time to eat.
Leptin: Known as the "satiety hormone," leptin is produced by fat cells (adipocytes) and functions to inhibit appetite and regulate fat storage in the body. High levels of leptin can be an indication of leptin resistance and may also contribute to weight gain and difficulty controlling appetite.
