It will be rated PG 13 for crude humour and adult situations, but nothing too bad, just enough to let the male demographic know that it's edgy and will have some grotesque humour for them, and the female demographic will instantly be drawn to the toaster, they will be able to imagine themselves in certain into the role. Connor Lonergan Yup. Every now and then, Starscream displays some level of competence. This was extended in the Bay movies, where, during Megatron's absence, he proved himself capable of holding the Decepticons together and putting down attempts to get rid of him in ways that megatron would usually put down his attempted rebellions.
Starscream was useful at times even if he was the fuckup of the decepticonarmy. He was a good flightcommander an aparently top student at the cybertronian flightacademy and a famous explorer/scientist before the war. Megatron were finally fed up with him though when he tryd to kill megatron by throwing him out in cold space.

OK yes I know - little boys love sports cars - but little boys also love SUVs, monster trucks, choppers, jet planes, various trucks not to mention different working machinery, huge CATs, and the... whole *other* shitload of machines that would make more sense to be driven off-road on various non-asphalt-covered planets and working sites the stories take place. I mean, why so uncreative? And this specially goes for the movies. You can be *anything*, why limit yourself to just a few basic designs? What other reason can there be but laziness?
Here's my questions - if the Transformer Autobots are at war against the Decepticons, why did all of the Autobots pick sport car designs rather than something that would be actually fucking useful? Why didn't Optimus Prime never pick something more helpful than a fire engine / truck / whichever show version you're watching that could give them all an edge against the bad guys?

Starscream may be a traitorous coward, but he is the second in command of the Decepticons because he is a brilliant tactician. The best example for this that I can think of is in the Transformers Prime cartoon. It shows all three of the aforementioned aspects in phases throughout the series and mixes them well when two of the three are shown at once. But the cookies are good too. :D

why the hell does no one discuss Armada? it was so good and really brought originality to the table. Minicons to make the humans a little more relevant while also giving the Autobots and Decepticons interesting new abilities and weapons, an actual mission beyond go to Cybertron, and it updated the looks of just about everyone even introducing new characters. sure Hotshot was kind of pretty much Bumblebee and Red Alert was practically Ratchet but they still had a defining difference.

Hell yeah. I love the different takes on characters like Prowl and Blitzwing. It's a shame we never got Season 4. I would have loves to see other triple changers get the same attention Blitzwing did. Animated is so good, I'm sad I rarely see any love for it.

You know, the one thing I've always question is; if Megatron knows that Starscream wants to take over as leader of the Decepticons, why does he transform into a gun and gives himself to Starscream? And on a sidenote, if Starscream wants to take over and overthrow Megatron, why doesn't he just simply crush Megatron, while he's in gun mode, with his bare hands?
Well, it may seem that Starscream is hesitant and may just be trying to look for the right opportunity. He doesn't necessarily seem quite as strong, experienced, or capable as Megatron. It's kinda like Scar and Mufasa. Scar knew he couldn't challenge Mufasa because he knew he isn't as great as a fighter or even strong enough, but decided to play dirty and take him out at the right opportunity. Unlike Starscream, however, Scar actually succeeded. As for Megatron, I think he kept Starscream alive because maybe there weren't enough Decepticons that were quite as relatively strong and experienced as Starscream. Heck, there probably weren't that many Decepticons at that time. Megatron might have gotten rid of Starscream if he has truly succeeded in destroying the Autobots, because he may not have needed him then. In this case, it actually is kinda like one of those relationships in which one person chooses not to leave the other because they think that they are the only one who will love them...those...suck.
Briane Nelom There are a few reason that Megatron would keep Starscream around that a couple of these were mentioned in every series: 1) Megatron finds it amusing watching Starscreams new plan hopelessly fail, 2) Starscream can easily be used as an example of why you don't defy Megatron after a failed scheme, 3) Starscream is the leader of the Seekers so Megatron uses examples 1 and 2 to further influence the troops, 4) Starscream can keep things running while Megatron is away so that he can return and relinquish "Lord" Starscreams achievements from the attempted take over, 5) Megatron just isn't really worried about anything that Starscream does, etc.
Thank God Travis Knight kicks Michael Bay's ass off the director's chair and restores G1 fans's faith in the (hopefully rebooted) Transformers film series.
Okay, this one was pretty funny (though I do feel offended at the whole 'unused name' gag), but the Soundwave joke just goes on too long. It should have ended about fifteen seconds after it started.
Can only answer for myself, and I don't exactly hate the movies, but it's sad for me to realize they aren't for me anymore. I watched the shows growing up. Loved them when I was little and all I cared about was boom boom bang bang cars trucks airplanes and dinosaurs. The transformers, especially Optimus Prime, figured heavily into my own childhood fantasy worlds. I think it might be the same now with these newer Michael Bay movies. I think for kids they're probably great. Kids probably love them for the same reasons I loved the shows back in the day. (I'm talking Gen 1 and the movie with Rodimus Prime here.) I'm not a kid anymore. I think that's the only thing I dislike about the films, besides their lack of decent stories and casual racism, (which was not really a part of the old show, unless you count the kind of stereotypical way Jazz spoke, which I mostly don't). They aren't for me anymore and they were a huge part of my life growing up. That's what happens when you grow up though, you know?
Yeah I think soundwave is possibly the most badass of all decepticons and autobots, even in transformers prime he never even speaks, he just carries out all of megaton's plans and even stays loyal to him after he is believed dead, and he never fails the mission's he is given, destroying anything in between him and his objective

i think the transformers original work was better at making the transformers look more realistic, as opposed to looking too humanoid and bulky. What did Micheal try to make the movies like? oh wait, i looked at the script, every line had a picture of a mushroom cloud next to it.

I always figured Starscream was kept around BECAUSE he could be counted on to betray you. If you don't know where the stab in the back is coming from, you can't prepare for it, if you know there's a guy that is after you all the time, you know to be on your guard whenever he's around. Megatron can count on Starscream to betray him, so he can concentrate on actually trying to win the war and keeping Starscream in check is a small price to pay without looking over your shoulder 100% of the time.
You know? Sometimes I think the authors missed the opportunities to make some female characters. I mean: Challenge Of The Gobots has Crasher made out from a not really feminine car, and she was a tomboy but still a girl. And Transformers? All the nissan fairladies autobots could have been actual ladies, with that chest and all. Same for the first three seekers, Skywarp, Thundercracker and Starscream (he would have been more of a bitch).
The only 3 animated Transformers series that I'll stick with are, from least greatest to greatest, Transformers Armada, Transformers Animated, and Transformers Prime.
Now, wait a minute, in a scene in the first episode, we see Sound is scaled to human size. Yet, his size is actually two stories? Continuity? What's that?
if you think about the bayformer movies and still true to the G1 cartoon both are basically really long commercials for toys the bayformer movies just have a bigger explosion budget
My favorite thing about this entire series was Soundwave. I don't care if he's dated being a cassette player and everything, if it wasn't for him, the Decepticons would be utterly useless as antagonists. Take every scene with him in it out of the show, and they have no intel, half of their plans and research go out the window, they lose a ton of manpower, and they lose their only comms officer. Plus that voice is the coolest robot voice ever.
Soundwave sounds a lot like Lopez from Red Vs. Blue: does all the work, and has little to no character development. Hey, at least Soundwave gets credit for doing everything!
But I thought that outdated character models, a constructicon fighting with the Autobots, and characters who were meant to be dead still living and fighting was the very definition of quality.

One thing about the 80's Hasbro cartoons (Transformers and GI Joe) is that the voice actors so often seemed like they were having fun, and this often comes across into the show.

Starscream may be a traitorous coward, but he is the second in command of the Decepticons because he is a brilliant tactician. The best example for this that I can think of is in the Transformers Prime cartoon. It shows all three of the aforementioned aspects in phases throughout the series and mixes them well when two of the three are shown at once.

I actually liked the original Live-Action movie and the third one. Maybe I'm a little biased on the 3rd one because I'm from Chicago... but whatever. The 4th one is okay, but too long, and don't get me started on the second one.

why the hell does no one discuss Armada? it was so good and really brought originality to the table. Minicons to make the humans a little more relevant while also giving the Autobots and Decepticons interesting new abilities and weapons, an actual mission beyond go to Cybertron, and it updated the looks of just about everyone even introducing new characters. sure Hotshot was kind of pretty much Bumblebee and Red Alert was practically Ratchet but they still had a defining difference.
Red Alert IS Ratchet in the original Japanese version. And Hotshot WAS Bumblebee during the design phase.
Not to mention, Armada had the Autobots form a truce with the Decepticons because a robot god was threatening to eat the universe.

I agree, Soundwave is tired of doing all the work and having no personality. He wants a story arc. Something that gives him depth. He wants a romance. Yes, a romantic comedy. Perhaps a relationship with a toaster. The toaster can be stuck up. And high class. He will be quirky. And getting into all sorts of antics. At first she doesn't like him. But then, she admires his silly charm. They get to know each other better. But then she discovers that he was keeping a secret the whole time. He tries to explain that he was hiding the secret because he loves her. But she is too emotional and filled with hate. So she decides to marry this snob. A real uptight guy with no funny lines. She is about to be wed at the altar. But then, he comes stumbling in, after going through some sort of comedic chase. He pleads himself to her. And at first, it looks like she's not buying it. But then, her eyes tear up. She turns around, gives him a hug. The snobby groom is angry. But then, his comedic sidekick comes in and punches him. The crowd cheers. He tells the toaster he loves her. She says she loves him. They decide to get married but they do not show it onscreen because two weddings would just be repetitive. So they end with kind of an open ending. Something like they're driving a convertible into the sunset or something. This leaves it open for a sequel. Soundwave wants to be played by Zac Effron. And Natalie Portman as the toaster. There is a bit of an age difference but I think she looks young enough, she can pull it off. Disney has shown interest. Gary Marshall is attached to direct. It will be called, "Soundwaves of the Heart." It will be rated PG-13 for crude humor and adult situations. But nothing too bad. Just enough to let the male demographic know that it's edgy, and will have some gross-out humor for them. And the female demographic will be instantly drawn to the toaster. They will be able to imagine themselves inserted into the role. It will be released in summer, preferably. Over a holiday weekend. It will break records, win awards. It will be the sleeper hit of the year.

Hell yeah. I love the different takes on characters like Prowl and Blitzwing. It's a shame we never got Season 4. I would have loves to see other triple changers get the same attention Blitzwing did.
Animated is so good, I'm sad I rarely see any love for it.

You know, the one thing I've always question is; if Megatron knows that Starscream wants to take over as leader of the Decepticons, why does he transform into a gun and gives himself to Starscream? And on a sidenote, if Starscream wants to take over and overthrow Megatron, why doesn't he just simply crush Megatron, while he's in gun mode, with his bare hands?

Well, it may seem that Starscream is hesitant and may just be trying to look for the right opportunity. He doesn't necessarily seem quite as strong, experienced, or capable as Megatron. It's kinda like Scar and Mufasa. Scar knew he couldn't challenge Mufasa because he knew he isn't as great as a fighter or even strong enough, but decided to play dirty and take him out at the right opportunity. Unlike Starscream, however, Scar actually succeeded.
As for Megatron, I think he kept Starscream alive because maybe there weren't enough Decepticons that were quite as relatively strong and experienced as Starscream. Heck, there probably weren't that many Decepticons at that time. Megatron might have gotten rid of Starscream if he has truly succeeded in destroying the Autobots, because he may not have needed him then. In this case, it actually is kinda like one of those relationships in which one person chooses not to leave the other because they think that they are the only one who will love them...those...suck.
Briane Nelom There are a few reason that Megatron would keep Starscream around that a couple of these were mentioned in every series: 1) Megatron finds it amusing watching Starscreams new plan hopelessly fail, 2) Starscream can easily be used as an example of why you don't defy Megatron after a failed scheme, 3) Starscream is the leader of the Seekers so Megatron uses examples 1 and 2 to further influence the troops, 4) Starscream can keep things running while Megatron is away so that he can return and relinquish "Lord" Starscreams achievements from the attempted take over, 5) Megatron just isn't really worried about anything that Starscream does, etc.

Why do people hate the bay movies so much? I think they are good movies for what they are.
Can only answer for myself, and I don't exactly hate the movies, but it's sad for me to realize they aren't for me anymore. I watched the shows growing up. Loved them when I was little and all I cared about was boom boom bang bang cars trucks airplanes and dinosaurs. The transformers, especially Optimus Prime, figured heavily into my own childhood fantasy worlds. I think it might be the same now with these newer Michael Bay movies. I think for kids they're probably great. Kids probably love them for the same reasons I loved the shows back in the day. (I'm talking Gen 1 and the movie with Rodimus Prime here.) I'm not a kid anymore. I think that's the only thing I dislike about the films, besides their lack of decent stories and casual racism, (which was not really a part of the old show, unless you count the kind of stereotypical way Jazz spoke, which I mostly don't). They aren't for me anymore and they were a huge part of my life growing up. That's what happens when you grow up though, you know?

Yeah I think soundwave is possibly the most badass of all decepticons and autobots, even in transformers prime he never even speaks, he just carries out all of megaton's plans and even stays loyal to him after he is believed dead, and he never fails the mission's he is given, destroying anything in between him and his objective

I always figured Starscream was kept around BECAUSE he could be counted on to betray you. If you don't know where the stab in the back is coming from, you can't prepare for it, if you know there's a guy that is after you all the time, you know to be on your guard whenever he's around. Megatron can count on Starscream to betray him, so he can concentrate on actually trying to win the war and keeping Starscream in check is a small price to pay without looking over your shoulder 100% of the time.

You know? Sometimes I think the authors missed the opportunities to make some female characters. I mean: Challenge Of The Gobots has Crasher made out from a not really feminine car, and she was a tomboy but still a girl. And Transformers? All the nissan fairladies autobots could have been actual ladies, with that chest and all. Same for the first three seekers, Skywarp, Thundercracker and Starscream (he would have been more of a bitch).

My favorite thing about this entire series was Soundwave. I don't care if he's dated being a cassette player and everything, if it wasn't for him, the Decepticons would be utterly useless as antagonists. Take every scene with him in it out of the show, and they have no intel, half of their plans and research go out the window, they lose a ton of manpower, and they lose their only comms officer. Plus that voice is the coolest robot voice ever.

One thing about the 80's Hasbro cartoons (Transformers and GI Joe) is that the voice actors so often seemed like they were having fun, and this often comes across into the show.
