Just imagine how confused people would be when they passed by on the sidewalk and heard Queen getting played on a Pipe Organ from the inside of a giant church! ⛪️
A Very Dead Horse Freddie had blessed the church Lmao
well they would think the organist is a genous and maybe come to the next services
I would have converted
Why? Have you heard the Bethlehemian Rhapsody which is exactly the same tune but Christian words?
And the music itself is not evil.
It is very popular in European churches for the organist to have practice in afternoon and play what he or she wants. I have been pleasantly surprised by the talent and variety
God I'd love a lossless audio file of this recording.
Even lossless audio wouldn't do it justice. Hearing the entire building reverberating with the song, the sounds echoing off the walls, flying at you from all directions, the deep bass tones rumbling in your chest, none of that can be replicated even with a WAV recording and fancy Sennheisers.
@@photonicpizza1466 Of course, but a lossless recording and fancy audio gear would be the closest I could personally get.
A binaural recording and good earbuds would get you about halfway there.
I recommend Marley earbuds. I tested them and they can go as low a 20hrz, so basse is about as good as it gets with buds
@@photonicpizza1466 I bet you'd say that it wouldn't be able to be replicated even if all the senses were sent straight to the brain like the matrix
Same
the "nothing really matters" part is so powerful and divine sounding!
Also the build up at: Bi ei zi bub, has the devilput aside for Meeee,,, for MEE, for MMMEEEEREEREEREEREEEEE
4:11 probably my favorite part. That chord there in massive and I can’t stop listening to it
That's the absolutely cream of it, especially with the ritardando leading up to it.
wonder how for whom the bell tolls wound sound on the organ
that would sound absolutely monstrous
Hell yeah
Would be better on the carillon
@@lukekline9513 They did play it od carillon!
Oooooof
Out of everything over the years, this moment in Rob's life I am most jealous of. I really want to go see that organ played.
I think this further proves the classical music Influence on Freddie Mercury when he was writing alot of queens music. Some parts sound like they could've come straight out of a Bach Fugue
Prophet's Song, even more so.
@@Keithustus That was composed by Brian
I was transcribing Bohemian Rhapsody a couple weeks ago, and I recognized much of the harmonic content as being straight out of something Beethoven would've written.
Hapedise, sure, that's the name they put down as writer, but we all know that most of the songs were collaborations, especially the more complicated ones.
Somewhere on YT there is Xavier Varnus playing 'The show must go on' from Queens on a monumental pipe organ; no exaggeration, it is divine...
The owner of the pipe organ: this thing 300-plus pistons
Mumbo: I think I can beat that
lol
Very underrated
4:08 This takes me back to high school marching band. I remember it being the last song and at this point all 200 of us were spread around the whole field in a big block. Everyone has FF as the dynamics. Basically play as loud as you can. The score goes in half time as you walk diagonally forward to your left. It felt badass!
Used to play in a brass band myself. I can definitely relate to where you're coming from, in addition to appreciating this vid.
Same here. It’s always satisfying when you have a part like that.
We got the concert band version
This definitely rang to the heavens
I think we all hope freddy heard it, he may have even been watching over
The simulator guy...Or maybe he’s looking up, I don’t know, I don’t know
Ok but can it do Never Gonna Give You Up
Probably it can, but do you really want the whole neighbourhood to be like hmmm are we getting mass rickrolled here?
@@jeroen0011 You already know the clear answer
@@jeroen0011 Yes
Imagine Rickrolling god.
NOOOOOOO => YOUR GONE BLOW UP THE PIPES ;-D
Freddy would approve! Hell, he would be up there rocking with you guys! I got goose bumps AGAIN!
How many times you watched it? I'm here for the 5th time now
I can still hear the singing, wow
TheBlankOne I mean... the midi does include the vocals, just as an instrument instead of a voice
Oh this is gonna be fun.
Edit: It was fun. The organ even hit the C5 around 3:40
Pretty regular note, C5...
This is great stuff! John is clearly enjoying learning capabilities he didn't know the organ had! Big thumb's up to you, Rob!
Rob, your MIDI file has a whole verse missing, and half of the guitar solo!
This just gives me goosebumps, i wonder how it was really in that church to hear that.
JS Bach would have loved a MIDI pipe organ. 😂
So would PDQ Bach ;)
Rather would've played Rhapsody and poliphonic pieces forever and ever, by himself, on an organ
Me: I have to do homework
Rob Scallon:*video*
Me:
I love this series so much
Rob-a suggestion for a series. Have a tour with Gary, John and Joey going to each other's instruments. Start it at Wrigley, which would be the least formal place. It would be a big change of pace for Chicago's premiere keyboard guys.
Worth taking in Rockefeller Chapel too...
I think somewhere in the universe Freddie is smiling about this project.
This is something that is worth of doing a second round. Correct the small errors, separate thet unwillingly legato-ed notes and do a recording with more thought out mic placement. This is a treasure that must get WAY MORE exposure.
The genius of Freddie Mercury. This music is on par with some of the greatest composers. If that arrangement were cleaned up, it would be really great.
if this doesnt get played at my funeral im not showing up lmao
If I knew this was being played at my funeral, I'd show up early.
You should play some initial D on it! Imagine hearing deja vu or running in the 90s on a freaking pipe organ
Rafael Santos I so want to hear this now
Back on the rocks (mustang gt theme) would be perfect
@@arsyahr138Especially since Back on the Rocks uses the main introduction of Toccata in D
hey Rob- me again. Binaural audio! Just sayin. Would take this to a whole new level.
Like so he sees this
true, would be awesome
That was just incredible. The thing that actually made me chuckle was on the second "Will Not Let You Go" picked up that subtle imperfection in the vocals. Thank you for posting that. I never even thought of that. Thank you for sharing.
Youre living the dream my guy
🙏
at 4:02 the extremely low bass pipes sound incredible at the last part of this little transition
4:13. He said “wow”.
Translation he enjoyed the bass. Always have more bass to songs it adds grandeur.
Beautiful. Thanks for the upload, Rob.
Am i the only one who got chills and teary eyed when he said "we miss you Freddie"?
This is solid Rob. You should recreate the pipe organ American Idiot from The Simpson's Movie
You mean Green Day playing their rendition of the Simpsons theme before their barge goes down?
Would love to hear a full queen set on this organ! Anything is possible
I really hope Freddie can hear this up there - He would LOVE it !!!
This is extreamly epic, cant describe it, I must see this IRL at least once in my life
One of the best tunes ever written... ❤️
This genuinely made me hapoy
More please. Any song - I straight up don't care. Just do more of this!
This was awesome, and it actually brought a tear to my eye toward the end.
At this rate, we see gonna have a "I used a pipe organ to take over the world"
now it sounds holy
Next up, "Trout Mask Replica full album through a Pipe Organ"
Awesome! To answer your question @5:22 - The way to top that is to play Pink Floyd's "Celestial Voices" on it. It definitely belongs in a church. There is b&w video of the late great Rick Wright playing it on a pipe organ somewhere long ago, but clearly not of this magnitude. Their performance of it at Pompeii in '71 is probably one of their best. Thank you.
This made me smile. Thanks Rob 😊
Imagine going in there to pray then some people are just playing Bohemian Rhapsody on the organ
Hearing rhapsody in a church organ is an even greater reason to pray i think
This is the equivalent of drifting a cement mixer!
Crazy stuff, thanks for sharing
Really majestic ,so fitting for a Queen.
I'd love to hear a binaural recording of this! Maybe next time you can set up two mics, ear-length apart, and put them on separate balances!
Now Freddie Mercury’s singing need to be layered on top of this
Hold on imma get to work on it
God Himself maybe add some drums?
Ha girl, don't even remember how many times ive seen u in comments outside your channel 🙃, maybe u can sing over it? 😋 Whatever ur next video will be i'll be happy to watch it ""
That’ll be cool.
Yes
A true masterpiece.
Someone from the pews out front yells “Freebird”!!! LOL! 🤣🤣😂😂 also this would be the most epic way imaginable to play marry had a little lamb lmao 🤣
Amazing!
Great job! I love it!
this is amazing i love it
Wow! That was mindblowing!
This is basically the Rev Richard Coles most days at evensong.
🤣😂❤
“We missed you Freddie”
Im not crying you are
"Do what you want with my music, just don't make it boring."
-Freddie Mercury
Pretty wonderful!!
Soooo freaking cool!!!
I'd love to hear the full clip of rain playing on this too.
Sends shivers down my spine
I'd go to church if it was like this everyday
Need to upload full versions of Rain and Anchor on the organ!!
Having that input port and using a few relays you could have some real fun with pranks of an organ that plays itself at night but only when the lights are out. A simple light sensor and a radar board and you can know when there is movement or lights to turn everything off and go back into sleep mode.
What a beautiful intro
"you can do whatever you want with my music, just dont make me boring". i think you succeeded.
You need to post the Necrophagist playthrough as well, that was fucking epic.
Wow!
Ho Lee Schitt!! That was AMAZING!
Bravo!
I'd love to have been sat in there!
Had to have the organ with all it's voices-and Freddy's voice is still very much missed in the mix.
Please do more of Queen
Is there a MIDI download available? I want to try this on my pipe organ...
i didnt even mean to find this video but i did
Imagine walking by a church and this is playing...
Rob you having to much fun with out me 🤣🤣
Iv herd a lot of version of this song and and other than when I herd it on wan world this is my 2and favourite version
I liked that very very much. Thank You
Nice work ! Sound very impressive !
Is there a final video without voices and above all without trials and errors ?
I saw your other extended video too. I don't think your MIDI tracks are quite right for optimal control but this was an amazing experiment. I hope you are working on a way to integrate the stop selection along with the note playing. I think it ought to be possible and I would be curious to learn more. I have access to a 1927 Wurlitzer Theatre organ with a digitized console in a similar setup. I'm going to see if there is a MIDI input port. It has the same computer in the console so i'm sure it does. It would be great to create MIDI files of music to go with films.
we need the separate video for One.
- Hey dude, I play the bass and you?
- I play church.
4:15 you can hear the Oh Yeah! O,O
Will you be releasing the full vid from the organ playing rain? @RobScallon2
One Word ...... WOW !!!!!!!!
Rob should be singing along to it😂
Thank god
Sweet
Anybody have sheet music or a midi download that can be transferred as sheet music of this bc wow!
Must have sounded amazing in that hall!
I live nearby Chicago and never have been to this church
I have been wanting to see this combination of musical genres combined for over 20 Years. I have played the pipe organ and am also a metal head. I have wanted to see the prophet song by Queen and war pigs done on a large instrument. You guys today fantastic job with Bohemian Rhapsody the only thing and might recommend is during the past heavy part is putting Freddy's voice on a separate organ division with a louder reed so it can stand out. But I really hope more people watched this and realize That the pipe organ has so many capabilities. And probably in Electronic form (Allen, Rodgers, midi etc) I would like to see more synthesis Of hard rock or metal with the sound of a pipe organ. I think it could be done.
mfw I started singing to a pipe organ with rob scallon :P
Please give us a music only recording of this... ;)
OR the entire sheet music that can be transcribed for organ solo...
Next video, you guys should use remote microphones throughout the church, right and left channel, I would use a 10 microphone system, separated about 8 feet apart between right and left channel and then go back to the control room and separate them by 10-15 feet per set of two microphones, might be able to give use a better sound performance on CZcams
