Sunken Temple has always been one of my favorites because it gives me a sort of Indiana Jones feeling.
More so than Uldaman.
man f*ck uldaman, that instance is the worst.. I have a love/hate relationship with ST, as I never figured it out back in vanilla, would always die sh!ttons before even entering the instance, and many bosses were left undone due to its non-linearity and mystery, as punkrat puts it. I kind of want to try ST again without the help of the internet, but I suspect i'll find myself as lost as i was back in vanilla :p
I love this dungeon, its obscurity, remoteness and lack of popularity. It feels like a secret, a hidden gem full of exploration and adventure.
sunken temple has always been one of my favorite dungeons. a gem in the underused swamp of sorrows
First dungeon I ever lead. And it was successful. We all had so much fun. I can never forget.
In my six months of playing classic I’ve never done ST, as you’ve eluded to. So many memories over the years and I’m very excited to experience it again, it’s probably been 12 years!
back in Classic, dungeons felt like actual dungeons, not loot railroads.
"Sunken", as we called it, was an epic adventure and an awesome way to spend the night.
Just going to say that slow zoom onto the temple in the video is so good to make the zone feel creepy and gloomy.
6:00 You actually get the order by clicking the shrine thingy at the bottom level of that ring :)
Itama the real mvp
Comes to say how clueless punkrat is on wow when milking content for viewers
Wasnt a thing in private servers, probably why he doesnt know.
He thinks there was no online resources till wowhead as well.
@@1bhitte alakazham and thottbot were the ogs
so many afternoons spent here on my 1st hunter. such a great time
Always love the vids, Punk. Thanks for the awesome content!
ALSO PLEASE TELL ME THAT SONG YOU PLAY IN THE END, I heard it years ago and I have no idea what it is called but it is so good!
Your videos look amazing when I slide my mouse along the video's time bar :D
Healed this soooo many times on my shaman - literally stayed there for several lvl's -
First time there i went with a tank who said he had done it b4, turned out no one in the group had any idea what to do, so we stayed for 4-5 hours trying to figure everything out. It stands out to me, as one of the truly epic challenges in the game. One of wonder and frustration not being able to solve the puzzle. I'd wish Blizzard would make a lot more of this "escape room" type stuff in the game. And that people would keep their findings to themselves once they figure it out.
Dude I feel the same way. I’m currently leveling an alt who’s 48 and I’m super hyped to run ST in a few levels, but the rest of my leveling group isn’t having it. We need more sunken temple love!
Been there actually just once back in the days and I am not even sure if I finished it. Maybe I gonna look at it again, thanks for reminding!
The altar showing the proper order of the statues sits at the top of the staircase leading down onto the water-covered pit floor.
I just did this dungeon with some randoms last week. it was tough af... we had a lvl 60 preist carrying us. they shared ALL the quests with me and also I forgot to turn in the quest you get from killing that big ass dragon. Do I have to re enter that dungeon to turn the quest in?
This is so accurate. Well done, sir.
So, what I got from this video: it is ICONIC and MASSIVE. :D
best music zone imo. Always looked forward to doing ST before BRD. It was like a entrance to late-game dungeons
ST is technically in a lake (maybe sea?), however ocean is a bit far fetched.
Additionally the stone order I am almost positive was either entailed via a ST Dungeon Quest, or through the little pedestal at the top of the staircase in the basement.
Good video though
Great job on the video. This is one my favorite Dungeons in WoW. Love the size and feel of it. The quests are very raid like chains that lead up to a great payoff.
Sunken Temple was one of my faves in Vanilla. I was bummed when they cut it down to how it exists now
Sunken temple has always been my favourite dungeon (antill they changed it in Cata i think?) You actually feel like you are exploring an ancient crypt, and the secret code to summon the boss, the big jump, the story behind eranikus and the LOONG quest chain to spawn the boss with the egg, are all so epic and cool. I went out of my way to completely clear this dungeon with quests and all, when i was leveling in classic. It was so cool!
You forgot to mention the Epic one handed sword (Dragons Call) that drops from there
never saw it
Goguakagod I’ve seen only one person have it and that was in a battleground.
This dropped in my group back in 2005, I lost the roll to the healer paly.
which is a very bad weapon xD
I was thinking about that then came to your comment, very low drop rate
I only entered Sunken Temple a few times in my original vanilla playthroughs for the trinket quests on a couple classes. It always remained mysterious, labyrinthine, and spooky to me. I think that was the mystique the developers were going for.
Broooo! ST was my favorite dungeon in vanilla. Nowadays, it is probably BRD, but still, ST is a blast and is so awesome in design.
Yep, huge, tons of content, and super fun!
My favourite dungeons are ZF and DM, I just always preferred the outdoor instances
finally a variety in background music
Did it 2 weeks ago with dds only, that was a little bit crazy but went surprisingly well :).
Also has the best chance to drop edge master😊 and the robes of hakkar look pretty sweet!
A bunch of pre-raid bus drops here from the mini bosses. Notably +healing gloves and bear tanking leather shoulders
i remember, leveling in bc as an alliance. finding a group for this (even without any lfr, only trade chat) was easy. finding the entrance and the team, after a wipe, that wasnt easy :D I liked this dungeon, but was not so special for me,but its different, thats true. Any chance of a Netherstorm video ? My favourite area, that was so special.
Punkrat you are wrong about the snake statue puzzle. There is an in game item that tells you the order to do them in. That's
Always been one of my favorite instances
The Punkrat has to come back for SOD! ST is the Phase 3 raid!
Punkrat starts video
Me: Utgarde Pinnacle?
Punkrat: ST.
Me: Fair.
I like ST but I never went in there during classic because none of my pre-bis was in there.
Imagine if they add this classic version in modern WoW as a mythic-only macro-dungeon.
Anyway, I'm amazed on how much people claim to love this massive non-linear dungeons when, back in vanilla, people hated them and praised Stockades and Scarlet Monastery for their linearity and short time.
I wonder what the numbers are for player base that has ran this an other less popular dungeons.
Like razor fren 1 n 2
Which I feel were low percentage due to location, location, location.
I agree with everything except the fact that there is no Zone like SoS. I find Dustwallow Marsh very similar personally... Great video all the same
99% skip the lower level
ST had a cool look and atmosphere for sure. I always had a preference for Maraudon though. The twisting different colored tunnels, the different wings, massive monsters. I especially like the inner area around Earthsong Falls where you enter via the scepter. A very mystical feel. The gear is also good. But its a much more popular place than ST for sure and can't be called underrated.
The bottom pattern is shown if you click the altar
Ive always wanted dragon’s call (sword that summons dragon that drops from the last boss) but its such waste on a prot paladin and is better off with a rogue or fury warrior.
Not a bad choice. Id love to see an indepth on scholo tho. Super underrated as well. Maybe a bit of RP?
I love sunken temple its definitely my favorite
Didnt ysera sink it when she found out what was going on ?
I skipped because there was no groups in lfg lol, and I leveled with most people in phase 1 and had interest in any item there
punkrat just trying to get people into ST to increase the amount of edgemasters handguards on the server and combat the inflation a little bit before thunderfury is possible
im onto you amigo
It is the best dungeon, love doing it... “join us!!!”
Please don't drink a shot every time he says Iconic :P Can't wait to get back there.
Sumken Temple, Uldaman and Blackfathom Deeps are the 3 most underrated classic dungeons in my opinion
I did ST one time during vanilla. once was enough.
ST is a great dungeon, to run once
might not have had wowhead, but we had thottbot. wasnt that tough XD
Not to mention alakazham
You see, ST is indeed ignored nowadays, and there's plenty of reasons for that.
Mainly becouse it just gets overshadowed by BRD, both in experience and most importantly for todays standards GEAR.
But , it was definetly not ignored back in the days.
First of all it's easy to find ur way into ST, mainly becouse u're gonna get a lot of quests in insanly popular quest-places like tanaris and the hinterlands, also the area that ST takes place is not chaotic or wierd, it's just a flat swamp while literally 1/3 of that map is the lake that ST is placed perfectly in the middle.. so yea u can't really miss that.
Now if it was indeed in the middle of the ocean that would be really hard to find it but in the middle of a lake that covers 1/3 of a map? that's easy.
Back then, it was popular and pretty much every person i know went to ST around 50s.
But now, since ST has little to nothing to offer, ofc it will get overshadowed by the insanly overpowered ( in terms of items) brd.
What did u expect? Players have to farm brd like 50+ times for their bis, why should they bother with ST?
If it is for the experience i bet that those people who are actually ignoring ST, have experienced the dungeon itself.. so really, what's the true point?
It's not really THAT much ignored as u might think.. u know what dungeon is TRULY ignored?
Gnomeregan... I've tried to find a group for that for a couple of days with my alt and some ppl wispered me laughing like " dudee u can't find a group for there, noone goes there anymore."
At least in ST, people will go for their class quests...
I think Sunken Temple wasn’t popular in phase 1 and 2 is because it doesn’t drop any preraid bis
It actually does, but they're incredibly rare items
Drops a few PreBiS items, and many "next best" items. But all are very heavy RNG related.
Sunken Temple is ignored because it takes so long.
I've always felt like that ST was cool enough and big enough to actually be a 10 man of its own like UBRS due to the number of bosses, size of the dungeon and connection it has to Hakkar/Gurubashi trolls. Not to mention there's just so many bosses and even an epic. I'd say the same about BRD but I hate Dwarves. Fu@cking Torch Room
Cool vid, but ST always felt like a chore to me. I skipped it on my priest and warlock on my journey to 60.
Yea I did dungeon spam on both my 60's and I never touched this place, working on a warrior alt atm though so definitely will need to bring him through here for the diamond flask
The statues in the basement definitely were not just "trial and error", there was a mechanic where you could click on the shrine at the bottom, and a beam of light would show you the correct order. I like your videos, but you need to put a little more into researching this stuff, you have ignorantly stated things in your videos multiple times that just aren't factually correct.
Chunkrat is BUSTED and BROKEN
thats trial and error, if you messed up the order, you had to restart from scratch and figure out the order yourself. I think you're too caught up on semantics.
If it shows you the order and you fuck it up. That's called fucking up, not trial and error.
I think he is caught up on the facts, not semantics hahaha
Exposed
SUNKEN TEMPLE IS BUSTED!!!
"a bottom water pit at the bottom"
we had thottbot back in 2005 ^^
Surrounded by ocean?
your passion is so present in everything you make. thanks for the awesome content. truly one of the few content creators i check my subs every day for. keep it up man.
Nice video, I personally don't like ST that much, I think it is sloppy on the loot, which is shit so people don't care about it besides class quests.
Something similar with sunken temple and gnomeregan
@@theknuckle4472 no u
Both easy to navigate if your not brain dead? I don't know how people get lost in ST since it's just two circles on top of each other with a lower event ring u jump down to to kill bosses that you exit using the northern stairs that take you back to the entrance room (right was basement, left upper level). Doesn't matter what center you choose, you go up or down.
Chunk fat!!! How ya doin?
But what about the epics?!
Seeing what they've been doing in the past couple of years, maybe it's for the better Blizz never really expanded on the lore and story inside ST.
I find it much more appealing in an RPG, when you're just given a couple of hints and story nuggets and get to experience the story at your own pace.
Somnus is a random dragon there and at level Somnus will 1-2 shot you. He/she is a badass.
5 galllons of polish on a 1lb turd.
What is there to do in classic WoW after farming MC in twenty minutes?
Wait for a BWL that everyone will clear in the first few trys and set that to farm mode too?
Yes 🙂
Basically. Im on the verge of quitting atm
if your guild is clearing in 20 minutes, congratulations you have the world record
I played it a few times, but it didn't cause in me much emotions. Just a weird slimy place.
Back in days there was thottbot to solve problems. Thumbs up if you used thottbot in vanilla
ST is misery.
Good dungeon with bad loot. A full run with the basement + Hakar Egg takes a while.
I never liked it, seemed to be a mass is winding staircases and stupid roots dangling from the ceiling getting in the way of my camera.
Yes. Love this place too. Especially if you bank all the 4 or w/e quests beforehand. Also something about this place is unique, like I feel I really really should not be in there. Thats every dungeon sure.. but this place in particular, with its subtle gloominess and its awkwad green/grey color pallete, the lack of music and quietness, the seemingly simple architecture and organized hallways but still not knowing where you arei n time and space. and THAT FUCKING hole that im scared to death of like what the fuck happens if fall in I I STILL DONT KNOW and I dont want to.
Woah 11 minute video! My man found another minute of footage
video starts at 1:07
For some reason sunken temple will raise goosebumps for a lot of people in terms of people’s wow memories
you finally stopped milking bwl.Congratz
And the neutered version in retail is so shitty. I hate how retail dumb downed so much. When I came back the game and found out about all the "streamlining" I quit again. I won't play retail, ever. And if Classic becomes TBC, I'm done with WoW and Blizzard, it's Classic+ or bust for me. Going into TBC is the path to retail. Why go down the same route? No point. Classic is an opportunity to do some new with the game. All the cut content from Vanilla and or new content for Classic+ that's keeps the spirit of the core game design would be what keeps me invested. Other than Classic WoW, Blizzard has nothing left for me to be interested in, and the disrespect to the community with Diablo Immortal, Blitzchung, WC3 Refunded, etc etc etc. I'm done with Blizzard. I only play Classic because my friends and I are playing together. Classic is player generated content, not the game telling you what to do.
Pls
Underrated? It's not the most popular dungeon, but its always in the upper half when people have to rate vanilla dungeons or say their favorite vanilla dungeon. It's not really popular right now since ZF is a lot better for grinding xp and gold and BRD is home to many pre-raid BiS that people have to run dozens of time to get.
I thought you were going to praise gnomeregan when i came here.
lmao ur joking right
It is a great dungeon in vanilla format.... and a boring one in Retail.
But please... don't use iconic as your description of everything in your narratives.
he said ocean twice.... does my dude know what an ocean is? it's not even a lake lmao.. its a swamp -_-
Theres one big reason this dungeon is disliked, theres no good loot. Simple as that.
This video could have been a lot better if you actually prepared a script beforehand, it's super rambly and all over the place which is a shame because the subject matter could be great.
HA! Asmon is bald
ST sucks. That’s why people are ignoring it
BFD. ST is and always will be crap
Sunken Temple was terrible for those who had no sense of direction.
Good thing I have it.
I just hate it
Mate, lately your quality of content hast been decreasing. It just feels like you're stretching 5 minutes of content into 10+ minutes. Im going to stay subscribed for a while, but if your content stays like that, I'll unsubscribe.
He literally just put out a 30 min bwl guide what do you want...
Feels like a propaganda video to get people to help warriors get their trinket quest done >.>
