      @willosword Před 2 lety +7

      @@ThatOneLadyOverHere i personally don't think she punched him on purpose either times- it was probably her powers manifesting her dislike of him subconsciously. if you notice during that scene of the song, isabela also accidentally grows a plant right under a cart and startles the villager in it.
      to me the scene read as if isabela was so caught up in her new freedom that she didn't realize the damage she was causing. even with mirabel at the beginning when she covered her with flowers, grew the big fig tree right under her, and had to pull her away from the carnivorous flowers :]

    her part in we dont talk about bruno was also meant to be negative because she had been singing about "the life of her dreams" but here we have her talking about not wanting any of it at all plus the we dont talk about bruno was a song going on about the reasons why no one wants to talk about him so probably the prophecy just put more pressure onto her

    It's so funny watching you try an interpret her song as if she was a villain! 😆 If only this video started with her line "I have been stuck being perfect all my life!" It would have explained everything. I do like how you pointed out that hers is the only positive vision, because if you think about it she though it was referring to all of her current goals coming true and stuff when she specifically wasn't happy, so in a way it wasn't a positive vision either because she had misinterpreted it.

  • @Painocus
    @Painocus Před 2 lety +23

    Now that you have seen the movie; I think that Bruno's prophecy for Isabella in "We don't talk about Bruno" actually was "bad". Isa would be given the life she has dreamed of, but for her that would seem like a bad thing, because what she wants for herself conflict with what she thinks her family needs her to be, which she prioritize higher than her self-expression. At the end of that song, when everyone is singing and dancing around Mirabel, instead of repeating her lines from earlier in the song like the others, Isa just repeats the words "I'm fine" over and over, as if trying to convince herself when she is really not, like Mirabel did in "Waiting for a Miracle". So I think she did bring up the prophecy when everyone were listing their own bad Bruno prophecies because it was a bad thing to her, but still played it off as something positive because she still needed to project perfection.

    • @Vixiebabe
      @Vixiebabe Před 2 lety +12

      Actually Bruno's prophecy was correct, it's just that the "life" she was talking about in the lyrics "He told me that the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine.." is a life of freedom and not a married life with Mariano. Also the lyrics said that her powers will grow like the grapes that thrives on the vines which actually happened because now Isabela can grow different kinds of plants, even exotic ones, not just perfect flowers.

    • @harlequinheart7132
      @harlequinheart7132 Před 2 lety +5

      I think the thing with Bruno's prophesy is saying "the life of my dreams would be promised and someday be mine" is... odd wording? In that the life that her family is currently promising her is not the life she wants at all. But is this the life that was predicted? Is this "the life of her dreams"? When it's the life she actively does not want, that becomes a very negative prophesy. The life being promised isn't a life she wants.
      The fun comes in in that it actually is exactly what it says on the tin, but that doesn't happen until this song - Isa was promised the life of her dreams, by Bruno, in that exact prophesy. And she had to wait a while, but now she's actually getting it, and at the same time her power is finally being allowed to grow and flourish. So it turns out it ultimately was a positive prophesy, but for a good portion of her life Isa probably felt pretty negative about it.

    • @Painocus
      @Painocus Před 2 lety +3

      @@Vixiebabe That's what I'm saying. Bruno promised her the life of her dreams, but she views her dreams and the needs of the family as being in conflict. Therfore the prophecy is bad to her at the time of "We don't talk about Bruno", because to her getting her dream would mean disapointing/failing her family, but for that same reason she can't admit openly that her dreams and the life Abuela wants for her are in conflict.

    This man is genius, he's actually predicting Encanto 2, when Isa, after experimenting more with what else she can do, starts losing control of her powers and destroys half the village. She then leaves in fear of hurting others. Mirabel and Bruno then try to find her.
    Isa then meets a man who tells her shes perfect just the way she is, encouraging her to grow her strength. Making her conceited about herself and thinking she dousn't need her family.
    Little does she know this man is part of the German military in the onset of world war one.
    Now Maribel must stop her before she makes her first kill. But Hernando (Bruno's evil alter-ego and was the one who told her about her powers in the first place and who was only fixing the cracks on the house to get Bruno's trust) will try to sabotage Maribel every step of the way. Never trust someone who fears nothing.

    I find your point of view really interesting, and now I can see why this can be taken as a villain song. I've just noticed that she was causing some troubles in the village, so if you haven't seen the movie you can legitimately feel confused.
    Also, I'm really intrigued by your speculation about that hug. I think that the "weird" part about it it's that Isa doesn't exactly hug her sister.. She takes Mirabel and force her to the hug without moving from her side. While Mirabel looks "goofy" in the hug at first, Isa is in a scenic and static pose, so everything looks a bit cold and fake. The hug of her older sister was very different, much more intense and familiar. I think that the hug between Isa and Mirabel could just be considered a wrong way to represent a kind hug. I consider this a little direction mistake.
    Thanks for sharing this video, it was good to listen your speculations.

    Considering how stupefied Isa was with the cactus she grew it doesn't look like she knew she had that ability. Taking that back to "we don't talk about Bruno," perhaps his prophecy of "the life of my dreams would someday be mine" isn't really a good thing for Isabela because maybe she thought then that her dream should be to be perfect and fulfill her community's expectations. She's been brought up to think that way. However, she might have felt unsatisfied with that fate in an subconscious level at least.

    What can I do if I just knew it didnt need to be perfect?
    It just needed to be, If they let me be?
    A hurricane of Jacarandas!
    Strangling figs!
    (Big!)
    Hanging Vines
    (This is fine)
    Palma de Cera fills the air as I climb and I push through!
    What else can I do?
    Can I deliver us a river of sundew?
    Careful its carnivorous a little just wont do.
    I wanna feel the shiver of something new
    I'm sick of being pretty,
    I want something true, don't you?
    (Woah)
    You just seem like your life's been a dream since the moment you've open your eyes
    How far do these roots go down?
    (Woah)
    All I know are the blossoms you grow but its awesome to see how you rise
    Through the roof to the skies
    Let's go!
    A hurricane of Jacarandas!
    Strangling figs!
    (Go!)
    Hanging vines!
    (Grow!)
    Palma de Cera fills the air as I climb and I push through!
    What else, What else?
    What can you do If you are deeply, madly, truly in the moment?
    Seize the moment keep going!
    What can you do if you know who you wanna be isnt perfect?
    But I'll still be okay
    Hey everyone clear the way! woo!
    I'm coming through with tabebuia!
    (She's coming through with that boo-yah!)
    Making waves
    (Making waves)
    Changing minds
    (You've changed mine)
    The way is clearer cuz' you're here and well I owe this all to you
    What else can I do?
    (Show 'em what you can do!)
    What else can I do?
    (There's nothing you can't do!)
    What else can I do?

    Some people in the comments missed the memo; he hasn't watched the movie when he made this reaction so his interpretation is missing the context prior to this song. To be honest, his perspective on this one is quite interesting.

    so your kinda missing the point of the song, Isa is the 'perfect' sibling. just like the strong sister she has a mold she is expected to fill within the family dynamic, which is being picture perfect at all times, and doing everything their grandmother has planned out for her life. This is her moment breaking away from pretty and perfect and finding what makes her happy and not others. Mirebel is saying "wow i didnt realize you had terrible issues too, it always seemed like you were thriving!" bugs me a bit to see you missing the point since this song hit me and my sister deeply since she was that perfect sibling and only recently we've been able to see past our own problems to realize the other was having a hard time too. It's really an incredibly dep song.

    dude.... the "how far do this roots go" part, think of weeds. Many weeds need to be removed from the root or else they come back. The 'little miss perfect' life she finds herself stuck in is that annoying weed. The sister she just confided in on not wanting that perfect act life at that time said she had only ever viewed her as perfect pretty flowers girl. In that part Isabella also vocalizes in a way that alludes to a cry of woe (sorrow), which stops when Mirabel shifts into encouragement for her to keep exploring her true potential outside of the tiny box of perfection she was previously locked in by everyone else.

    You are wrong about this song, what it means and who Isabela is in just about every way you possibly could be. Rather than listening to the song and understanding it, you made a wrong assumption and made a 13 minute long case study in confirmation bias.
