Some people are going to be frustrated but honestly I think this version of Thanos they're moving toward is a lot cooler. He starts in your hand and, I imagine, you'll slowly be buffing him up with each infinity stone you play. That's how he always should have worked.

@@markthetranslator1162 this skepticism of the MS team is sooooo unwarranted especially under a video where the MS team is doing the exact opposite of what you’re saying. Angela, Crossbones, and Sabretooth are all S3 and below and they were buffed this patch, meanwhile Thanos is permanently S5 and Miek is S4 and the newest card changed in the patch and they were nerfed. How is that nerfing old cards and buffing new ones to make money?!! It’s actually like you didn’t watch the video

I think part of the problem is that since this is an accessible mobile game, it's a lot of people's first card game and experience with balance changes.
To be fair, Cull was always meant to be a Thanos card, as his original datamined iteration required an infinity stone and not just a 1 cost card.

I think this design on Thanos should’ve been the focus since the beginning. Stones should encourage you to play Thanos. For example, maybe soul stone makes Thanos so that he couldn’t be destroyed, or space stone males him able ti be played everywhere, power gives him +2 for every stone you’ve played, reality makes it so that whenever Thanos gets played, he changes the location, etc.
I wonder if, as we see the stones being changed to focus more on Thanos, Second Dinner will also rework the location that gives a random stone to each player. Might not make sense in the future.

I appreciate that second dinner keeps changing things. It allows mistakes to be made and fixed as needed.
This has nothing to do with the ota but I just want to mention how much I love that you get to see the opponents red hulk when it gains power so you can plan your moves accordingly instead of having to guess what the power he would at
Getting a 20 power Thanos is never seen but is so fitting and cool to achieve. Once put power stone in sinister and got a 50 power Thanos back before tribunal
honestly i am more looking forward to actually playing a THANOS deck instead of a pile of marvel snap cards

I think they should reduce thanos starting power and then give him +3 power per stone played, and change the power stone to make him immune to power changes, and then playing all stones makes him indestructible

Pulled the Noir variant for crossbones the other day, looking forward to playing it :)
that +1 strength of sabretooth technically gets spread across venom and knull giving the destroy archetype a +3 overall stats in luckiest cases. could see people try that out. but yeah mobius is a problem for that card. perhaps creating a 0/5 card that sabretooth would make appear in your hand when destroyed would be a good way to circumvent that. not that destroy would need that many buffs anyway, but changing things up a bit is fun
Possibly more because after you eat him once he is free to play out so you can eat him again and again to buff carnage or just as a free drop alongside deathlock. If he goes back into destroy decks it could be as much as +5 in a "normal" game and even more in a game with deaths domain or alter of death.
Very happy with these changes! I really need a white queen buff in the future so I can use some her sick variants

I like the Crossbones change. Glad they’re continuing to look at where they can stop older cards from being power creeped out of play. As it stands I think Cull still wins out simply because the one-cost card doesn’t have to already be in play. I can see them maybe changing that in the future.
Shuri Kitty with Red Hulk was already performing well for me and the Angela buff makes it even better. Should be a fun week!

Kinda sad to see the Sanctuary location get changed whenever thanos stones get hit, so now time stone is just draw a card pretty much in that case
Fair call-out. Reading the notes, I think this is just a band-aid until the other stones get their rework.

The OTA notes went up early on Steam which made posting this before they were live in the client fair game.
@@HooglandiaSnap I agree 100%. I didn’t realise they went out on steam early. I guess I assumed these videos were on a schedule as content creators roughly know when/what the changes will be ahead of time. I won’t be assuming that moving forward.
I love the idea of thanos and its infinity stones to be more focused on playing thanos.. but they seem to just have forgotten on the location sanctuary 2...

Looks like thanos is still fairly strong in the post patch meta ill be curious to see where things go as people start to figure out the meta from here. In the comics and in the MCU, his aquisition of the infinity stones gave him more power, it makes sense that they are taking him in a direction like that, though with that said; it could be cool thematically if somehow they could make thanos unstoppable if you are able to play all of his stones in a game (I imagine that would be really difficult to balance though given how card draw works in this game). In the original Infinity gauntlet storyline, he was basically unstoppable and the only reason why he lost was due to his own shortcomings.
Im glad they are finally trying to make smaller cards more relevant again. My favorite types of cards are low powered ones which grow over the course of the game based on the actions that you take. I find that much more strategic than just brute forcing a location with a ton of power. Obviously since the game is based around winning with power, it makes sense to have a lot of large "creature" cards but its pretty boring to just throw out a single 20+ power card at the end of the game to win.
Sad you didn't mention the change to the baxter building. The text in the game just said "do you get it? Yeah, you get it." but I don't get it and was hoping you would explain it.
Baxter building is the base of the fantastic four. They also rolled this OTA out on 4/4/24

Angela is back. She was one of my favorite cards and I got some nice variants of her. I loved those angela bounce decks. With Elsa also better, I want to try the classic Beast bounce deck. I am pretty sure Jeff will also try it out soon.
These changes all seem great, even if only by a small amount.
Angela being reverted is fantastic! I really enjoyed Angela decks when I started, and I'm excited to see her easily get huge again. Also, she can be discounted by Ravonna now, though I don't think that will be too impactful.
Thanos being more of a focus in the deck makes sense, and I really like the flavor of him just sitting around in your hand while you fetch the stones for him.
I don't have too much experience facing Miek, but a small power decrease seems justified for a card that can get huge and move anywhere.
Crossbones was an okay replacement for Cull Obsidian in the Black Knight War Machine strategy, but the power drop was noticeable, and you often needed War Machine's effect to play him. Cull Obsidian is also easier to play when you consider how the necessary 1-drop can be played at the same time, while Crossbones requires that you are winning the location at the start of the turn.
Sabretooth buff is nice to see. The problem I see is that he's kind of meant to be something you destroy again and again before being a cheap power boost on the final turn, but he's so expensive initially that it's hard to justify, and he gets completely shut down by Mobius. He's like the Swarm of destroy, but he requires investment to see any benefit, and Death fills the role of extra power on the final turn better in a lot of cases.

SD be praised. I really don't understand why SD avoids nerfing Alioth so much. But I'm happy to take this patch for now. I love the direction Thanos is taking with the recent balance patches. I also love to have +2 Angela back. 4/10 Crossbones might be relevant, but let's wait and see.

High Evo is supposed to be bad. Thats the trade off for the evolved cards being above rate
I hope with the future Thanos nerfs Sera and Lockjaw can get buffed again. It's wild how many nerfs other cards got because Thanos was out of hand

I feel like the amount of people playing Thanos because they like his mechanics is a hell of a lot smaller than the amount of people playing Thanos because he's the best deck.

I think making the Infinity Stones into a mechanism to make a mega Thanos would be awesome.
Time stone: On Reveal: Thanos get -1 cost
Reality stone: on reveal: destroy 1 opposing card at each location containing a Thanos
Power Stone: on reveal: give Thanos +5 power
Space stone: on reveal: add Thanos to your hand(from wherever he is)
Mind stone: ongoing: All infinity stones played here trigger there on reveals twice.
Soul stone: on reveal: Thanos gains "On Reveal add a copy of Thanos to each other location
Something that makes dropping that Thanos feel like a bomb worth investing in.
Hm, I guess I was expecting a little more from this OTA. Thanos change is cool, but nothing else really interesting for me personally, like my dream vision of a 3 cost Werewolf for instance.
With how long it took to get Angela back, not holding my breath on Wolf changes any time soon unfortunately.
