▶ The Swan Club | 발레교습소 백조클럽 - Ep.8
: This final episode of The Swan Club is titled, ‘Fly’. The members are off to Busan for their show, only to face another challenge at the dress rehearsal on the day before the show. ‘The Nutcracker’ finally begins with Jumi’s appearance and the tension, driven by fear of making mistakes and expectancy for the stage, mounts more as the time ticks away. After the beautiful finale by Jiwon, the members praise each other with hugs and tears and wrap up for another dream to come.

Jiwon was absolutely breathtaking! It makes me sad thinking about her past and how she had to give up ballet. I'm glad this show was created and that she was able to be part of it. We may not get another opportunity to see her dance again.

In the pilot episode, she explained that she broke her pelvis when she was younger and struggled a lot (mentally and physically) after her injury. She abruptly quit ballet without giving herself time to properly deal with it, and she developed a love-hate relationship with ballet. Throughout the show, you could really tell how much ballet meant to her and much she missed it 😢

she majored in ballet and graduate from royal ballet school in england, she even won many competitions and became national ballerina, but she injured her pelvis and decided to retire.

Jiwon makes me regret quitting ballet... I don’t even understand it. I’ve lived half my life accepting that mistake but now it just wrecks me especially because I’m not happy where I am now... I miss my ballet shoes... my tights... the studio... doing pirouettes...

Have you considered maybe doing gentle recreational ballet without the shoes?
y yg I want to actually. It’s just the place where I’m now has no real studio at the very least. I practice on my own, just to maintain proper form but other than that I’ve got nothing here.

This show is making me cry so hard, seeing all the passion...
this show makes me miss dancing so much, honestly. the hours and hours of practice are all worth it when you're on stage. the feeling is indescribable.
I could imagine how hard she must have been to make a tough decision to give up ballet when she was nearly at the top, especially how much she loves and passionate about dancing. It was really a pity for her whole life... she is an truly an inspiration. I hope there's season 2
I remember watching one of her dramas. Her role was a ballet dancer and it made me think if she really had a background in it. Now I know.. good job girl!

I got goosebumps to jiwons performance omg. Actually to everyone. I dreamt of being ballerina since i was a kid but frustratedly i cant so i plan to work hard so that my future daughter will be able to be one if ever she would want to be. I am very proud of everyone in their journey. They are all so good and adorable. I feel grateful to Kim Joowon sumbaenim for being there to guide them also. She was the best.

Is it just me, or do her point shoes seem completely new. They don't seem that broken in, since she's not articulating her feet as much as she usually does in broken in shoes.... But anyways, SHE HAS SUCH BEAUTIFUL LINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jiwon is really great ! All of the swans were, but she's definitely my favorite. She so hard working and nice ! I really hope she didn't hurt her feet to much, I understand why she wanted to do that stage, that it was really important for her but I hope she won't have lasting damages :/
Still there's one thing that I'm curious about, every time she does a pointé, her feet seems a bit off ? Like, not in the same angle as her leg. She does that everytime and I don't understand why their teacher didn't correct her on that...
Can you tell me where in the clip her foot seemed off? Is it her working/standing leg or the one off the ground?
this is a really late reply, but you might be talking about her "winging" her foot upwards (e.g. in arabesque)? that's actually part of ballet technique and makes your lines look more beautiful ^^ however, if her foot is angled down that's not good technique and is called sickling (it's not the right line for ballet and can cause injuries! especially on pointe)

I always want to cry when they finish the partnering in the beginning knowing what it took to reach that stage😢 She was not completely over her box all the time but I think if she had more time, shed get it back. I wonder if the previous injuries were bothering her. Anyways, I'm glad Jiwon was able to do this(my first time seeing any of the women from the cast) . Its was great watching them grow!

she used to be a ballerina before she broke her pelvis and cannot continue on anymore. the reason why she joined the show is to give a closure to her old dream and finally letting it go for the last time properly. so this performance would be her last stage.
