  • The Chevelle has officially made it on the channel!
We are doing some much-needed suspension upgrades to this hotrod. As the title states, we are installing a complete QA1 level 3 suspension kit.
Packing this whole process into less than an hour video while also providing as many details as possible and trying to give it little flair was a pretty tall task to concur, but we were able to make it happen.
We would love for you to watch the video in its entirety, but if you are seeking specific information/assistance, we have broken it out into time stamps as seen below:
    2:26: Car background
    5:05: The kit being installed
    6:06: Removal/install (rearend components)
    15:43: Torque specs (rearend components)
    18:04: Removal/install (frontend components)
    35:21: Ride height
    37:22: Torque specs (frontend components)
    38:30: Shock adjustment (tunning)
    39:34: Test drive & montage
Any questions, fill free to reach out, we will do the best we can to help. We hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!

Stay tuned, we have another project we are planning! It will be upwards of 6 months before we release what it will be as we have to get this one wrapped up/on the track and supply chain issues but we are excited! Glad to have you once again and God Bless!

Great video buddy! I think you’re spot on by starting off making your parts the same length as the factory so you have a starting point. Seems like there are sooo many adjustments you could make. I’m going to do this on my 66 because I hate the way the back end wants to creep around in a turn over 45mph! It’s really easy to see how many of these beautiful cars were wrecked because of oversteer when the back comes around. Anyway, love the video and the 66 is badass. God bless brother!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

We are glad you enjoyed! Exactly, it’s fun to make changes to to see how she reacts without the concerns of making the wrong adjustment as she’s just a fun car and not utilized to compete.
You will love it, we are excited for you.

The 66 Chevelle Super Sport didn't have power brakes , disc on any front or rear ,
Looks like a 66 Malibu 136 with too much lip stick .

I have a REAL 66 Chevelle 138 Super Sport and I can't stand these tributes or clones or wannabes .
It looks good but don't try to pass it off as something it is not !

@@jimthomas1989 1966 chevelle super sport, 396. Was my uncles car, original owner and owned it up to the time we acquired it. Car had break drums that were locked up when we got our hands on it. We put disc brakes on it.
We appreciate all, original included, but our personal preference includes a little aftermarket and a few upgrades.
No tribute or clones here, 100% an SS car. Yes, having the real deal is ideal and more desirable but some don’t have that option and make do with what they have. We can’t respect that more! If you have a passion, keep chasing it. We have our biases but we respect all! To each their own! We appreciate you watching.

Do you not remove old springs in rear?

    • @godsentgarage-gsg
      @godsentgarage-gsg  Před rokem

Yes you do, failed to mention that in the video.. We were dealing with so much “bounce” and movement in the rear end we wanted to test running both prior to removal as they didn’t conflict with anything else. Not saying thats right or wrong, just the route we took/tried.
Removing will help with installment of everything else!

We actually found a way to put a note in the video, noting the removal of the original spring. Obviously unless you would like to test running both as we did.
To comment on what we noticed by running both: it was quite a bit stiffer, which is what we were seeking. Moving forward we may make a spring change on the QA1 coilover to find a little bit more of a happy medium.
      Thanks again!

Hello I've got a 67 chevelle and interested in doing a qa1 coilover sysem upgrade also. Just curious is the stage 3 worth investing in vs. the stage 2?

    • @godsentgarage-gsg
      @godsentgarage-gsg  Před rokem +1

Thanks for your comment! From a comparison perspective, we can’t speak fully to this as we only have experience with the level 3. As for thoughts, it depends on what your going for. We had quite a bit of sway in the car and wanted to go with what we thought would be the best to mitigate the sway/bounce. They seem to offer a few different variations within those levels I.e. handling, race, etc.: different coilovers and other options. Some of the options are very similar and there may even be an option(s) that would have been a better route for us. Either way, there will be value add and I don’t think you can go wrong! I would suggest checking eBay if your seeking a deal. Many companies will post items discounted as they are trying to get them off the shelf.
We hope this helps and apologize we can’t provide more. Based off our experience you will be satisfied with whatever you decide. If you have any other questions please reach out!

Great video and a beautiful car. Thanks for posting. Near as I can tell, the QA1 kit doesn't include front spindles. Are you running stock spindles or a drop spindle? I have a 66 Chevelle and I am considering using this kit also. Appreciate any info.

The 66 Chevelle Super Sport did NOT come with power brakes booster , disc brakes on the front , that steering wheel , or that dash
Is it a 66 Malibu dressed up as a Super Sport ?

Yeah, this color was actually a bit of an accident.. When it was first painted Marina blue, it was rolled outside and it was extremely cloudy and needed to be re-painted. The second color was mixed wrong but we loved it so we ran with it and we are extremely pleased with the outcome. It’s called a bmw blue.
