This video’s popularity shows how curious people like me(& others) are to know about indigenous building techniques and this video makes it so simple, hope to see more about this subject, the usage of Surkhi and how it is different from powdered brick, aarish techniques, terminology like Thappi, loi and as you mentioned in one of the comments kada. Thank you again for sharing this, encourages me to someday think of building like this
U have great knowledge, other videos on ur CZcams channel certainly prove this and ur doing great work by spreading ur knowledge through this CZcams channel. thank you sir
These videos are very encouraging. I want to build a 5000sq ft bungalow with stone ( laterite) and lime mortar in an area that has monsoons. Very few people seem to think it’s possible.
Very good and informative video. I will be building in Stone and Lime... load bearing... Might not be able to design open concept Living+ Dining+ Kitchen because I want to use natural materials for slab also 😊
Add coal ash to it. It will set quicker in this mix, 10% to every 25 kg bag will be, like...say 3 litres of coal ash. Wood ash be a bit weaker. If you use coal ash in quicklime it will set &cure quicker, good tip.
Hi can you pls advise where to find good quality quick lime, calcium oxide? I got the quick lime from my paint shop, it has lumps like you have shown, however it also has lot of powder in it
sir quick lime agr powedered form me avilable hoga hardware soap pr to wo jaroori hai ki boojha hua hi ho? and fresh quick lime jo hoga wo solid form me hi hoga?

Way down the south especially Tamil Nadu the mixture is of Quick lime, sand, kadukai (Hog plum extract) jaggery for strength and to avoid cracks, I don't know in what proportion. In another video they use 10Kg quick lime, 10Kg sand, 20kg crushed brick and around 1/2 kg jaggery In some cases its lime, sand jaggery, aloe Vera, lady finger or okra etc Can you let me know as to what you add to give the mortar strength
We had exactly the same in England. It's rich people not the British and most of them aren't even British. Please don't judge us for decisions made by people who fuck us over just as much as everyone else. Our government was voted in by only 18% of the country, we don't approve of what they do or have done in the past.
This isn't true. Most colonial buildings used lime mortar. I don't recall seeing any British era buildings built using cement. Our house built in 1937 was built with brick and lime mortar. So definitely not banned by the British. Not sure where people come up with these tales.🙄
Will such a lime be a good lime for plaster works? And I am doing plaster on a brick wall. Can I add gobar and mitti and lime to make a plaster? Would it stick to the wall?
