I'm an AFL fan. But this. This was the single greatest sporting spectacle I have ever seen. Both sides battled it out in to extra time. It was super fast paced and as tough a game as you'll see. Excellent footy! Excellent sport! Since this game I have really come to appreciate and enjoy the brilliance of Rugby League Football.
As a longtime league fan who's just started to appreciate the dynamism and scrappiness of an average AFL game, I love seeing the same from the other camp. These codes are part of what make Australia's sporting landscape so special and unique, and should be appreciated as such.

I totally understand everyone having a preference for one code or another, but don't really believe it's conducive for anyone to hate on the other code purely out of a sort of superiority complex or self-righteous justification. Both have their attributes and are special in distinct ways and like you said, are part of what makes Australia such a special nation; both sporting and otherwise. Sport is a huge part of our national history, and I am so glad that Rugby League is one of the cornerstones of our fundamental sporting make-up. It does so much for Aussies, and provides so much happiness and enjoyment all year round. Love the atmosphere, love the special moments, and love the sport! 👍
@@platypus4427I’m an AFL fan my family has been supporting Collingwood since they were created but just started watching nrl I don’t have a team I’m from Melbourne so maybe the storm and I have played rugby in the backyard but I’m thinking of playing for a team since it is such a fun game
@@zachunderwood9586 Love to hear it mate. Having played both codes, my own view is that league is more fun to watch, but union is more fun to play. Having those extra two men and an always active ball adds something extra to the experience. As for picking a team, hard to go wrong with the storm! Definitely put my sharks on the burner earlier this year...

@@Jaw94 yeh feldt scored . after Michael Morgan produced a football miracle .with 10 secs left after catching JTS desperation pass and instead of kicking a Hail Mary bomb to in ingoal , he looks up and sees 30 meters and a wall of broncos between him and the tryline , scanning for options he sees the left edge hasn’t pushed up as far in defence as their middle , they are bunched, half hanging back expecting a kick and he sees his chance., a vision of the perfect running line , years of football instinct and muscle memory kick in as he turns on the jets , arcing his run from the middle of the field to the right edge tram lines. With the ball still in 2 hands (like all good halves do)
He charges forward, shaping as if he still might kick but taking advantage of the free 15 Mtrs of the staggered broncos line and the 3 players are suddenly in 2minds defensively and they flinch taking a split second to long before they can adjust and as he hits top speed it’s over. Morgan burns A much slower jack reid with an overs / out ball line that would have made Steve Renouf proud ,forcing a flatfooted winger into limbo with a signature JT show and go before gift wrapping the ball into Kyle feldts hands barely a metre from the tryline with a sensational Matt gidley flick pass. The end . I’m contacting the Vatican and asking them to add that story to the bible along with other stories of miracles walking on water, water into wine ,rising from the dead and Morgans magic moments Gospel according to paul green .
Big Morgan fan and i agree but it’s a team game and won by the team not all Morgan, feldt was as good or better! The strips to get ball back in that minute, the one handed tip toe down the sideline and celebration, the bomb that made Hunt hurt 😭, for the field goal

This is the best ever Grand Final and without a doubt will go down in history as one of the greatest Grand Final matches ever.
I was working there that night and it was deafening. The atmosphere was electric, you could feel the ground beneath you vibrating. The QLD fans from north of the border came into that stadium and gave their teams everything they've got in support.
If there's any Grand Final that I could choose to go back in time and watch live again, it'll be this one and I'm not even a fan of either team.

I worked at that stadium from 2008-2016 and I'm telling you, that crowd pop when Kyle Feldt scored that try was the loudest and longest I'd ever heard in that stadium or in any game that I had been to in any sporting code. It was epic.
The atmosphere as a whole was incredible. Easily the best Grand Final ever.
This grand final has lots of history to it as its the only grand final to ever have 2 qld teams playing and the greatest one in history

Kyle Feldt was the hero of this GF. He got possession by one on one in the dying minutes, scored the try and saved JT and Cowboys with that kick off blast that Hunt eventually dropped. This was the peak of Feldt... What a player he was💪
He so often gets bagged by so called fans...they forget what he has pulled off at the crunch point...sometimes he does make the easy look hard.........but boy ,when he is needed he makes the hard look easy.....like Thurston ,he competes to the final whistle......true COWBOY spirit

Such an incredible game! I was honoured to have been at the first match in 2016 between these two teams! Felt like a 2nd Grand Final, only it was early in the 2016 season!

Member watching this live form the UK. I wanted to NQ to win. and felt they had one more chance as they came back in so many games during the season. The try by Felt had be shouting at 9 in the morning. Ray Warren was meant to retire that year too but stayed. " he got the filed goal his got the premiership. he has gone from a captain to a legend to probably rugby league immortality ". Everyone wanted JT to win the grand finale as he played amazing that year.
This was the game that made this American an NRL fan.

I would have to say in my own opinion this grand final and when the raiders beat Balmain in 89 , they are 2 of the all time great grand finals.
Hard to think of any others that come close, to some a great grand final might be a big win but no one could go past grand finals that come down to the very last minute of the game
As a manly fan I enjoyed 2008 GF more but objectively this is probably the greatest game of all time.

I thought Hunt had an amazing game. It's ironic that Peter Sterling was commentating. He used to turn his back and take kicks over his shoulder, putting his ba back to the opposition. If he dropped it, which incidentally, I never saw him do, he'd be dropping it backwards. Even the greats employ percentage plays. It was amazing to see the Cowboys win!
Just seeing the end with Greeny and boys made me feel so sad...

Watching this back, You gotta feel for Ben Hunt. The poor guy has the ball in the 79th minute and comes up with the mistake that leads to the cowboys scoring. He then drops the ball off the kick-off which leads to the cowboys winning the match.
You could see his life flash before his eyes

The reason why he missed is because he forgot to move the ball back 3 meters,
He usually puts in at 24 meters at the sideline
But here he kicks it at 21m.
If he had kicked at at 24 it slightly increases the ange and distance allowing the ball to curl in to the near post which it's was. It was curling in.
After watching compilations of kicking I just noticed this.

I had a job at this stadium, was rostered to work this grandfinal and am a big Broncos supporter
I went and signed in for my shift then walked away and found a good seat for me to sit in. Best game of footy I've ever watched and Broncos didn't get the win.
I mightve cried at the end but still got paid for the shift I didn't even end up working
