Probably the Greatest Grand Final ever...the story behind it all.. the hype.. the two great indigenous captains who were near or at the end of their awesome careers battling it out...the passion between the two Queensland clubs..older brother, younger brother rivalry..was such an awesome game to watch!
yep. i watched bit was not a fan of either side (i support the storm) but this match had me on the edge of my seat
not even close. Was actually one of the worst. Besides a grandstand finish it had more errors than any gf in history. Even the result was decided on an error.

@J G Rugby league is close to everyones heart here in Australia and that's all that matters. We get 80 minutes of gold while you flops get 90 minutes of girls prancing around on a field making sure their combovers don't get hurt.

@J G rugby league is the worlds most important sport with 4.5 Billion fans and hugely popular in more than 240 countries. soccer/football is only big in 4 countries. It's a minority sport in the UK, France, Ireland etc. rugby league is and always will be the most popular sport in Australia and NZ by 2050

Even as a Newcastle supporter, having seen the 1997 and 2001 Grand Finals, no moment even comes close to giving me goosebumps like this one: 1:39:13.
Itâs so perfect, as the siren rings for full time Feldt plants the ball down, despite being a bulldogs fan this gives me the chills, best GF Iâve watched live.
Dragons fan here, and I agree with my Knights and Bulldogs compatriots. The was the most excited and the happiest I've ever been watching a game of rugby league.

@@nigelandandi453 Yep. This was a great night but true cowboys fans will always have a small pain in their hearts that Matty Bowen and Aaron Payne weren't present. They were the cowboys spine for a good 7-8 years and Payne was beyond unlucky not to get a single Origin call up. Payne and Bowen were a combo like 3 years before Thurston was even on the scene for the Cowboys.

This was the first rugby match I've ever watched and now I AM HOOKED.
Without a doubt this is the best NRL Grand final wins I have ever witnessed. The NQC team snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat, they fought right up to the end which saw them equalize seconds before defeat was imposed. For JT to kick the drop goal as he did after being denied of his conversion kick by the post truly etches his name into the history monologues as one of the all time legends of the rugby league game. The North Queensland Cowboys had an amazing year as a whole, which was just reward for all their efforts. Jonathon Thurston you brought so much to this amazing game and you've inspired so many. You truly are a legend and superstar of the game!!!
I have never watched a single game of rugby before and i can safely say this is one of the best matches in the history of all sports.
Being a North Queenslander, I had sewn their patch on my forehead to etch their name into history!

That missed conversion by JT made the game even more interesting and none of us in the family support cowboys except my older brother he was on the edge of his seat with his cowboys NRL hat backwards some of us tried to make fun of cowboys that they were going to lose the game.. when JT nailed that field goal my brother jumped up off his seat kicked the chair and burst into tears of joy. The best Grand Final ever. And yes, I'm biased. This was my birthday and I had been a Cowboys supporter from before their first season. I had been a Broncos supporter, simply due to lack of choice as a North Queenslander.
20 years of waiting.
I watched this with a Broncos friend and we both alternately rejoiced at this fantastic arm wrestle. Both teams were incredible. And as much as I would have loved to smash the Broncs (the 'boys almost never do that!), it was still a fantastic game. Such tension and excitement.
A last second try off the back of JT refusing to get tackled and Morgan finding a way. Then the conversion so close. Then Ben Hunt drops it. And we have to wait for the "inevitable" field goal.
Incredible.
The least anti-climactic game in history, unless you were a Broncos fan.

I remember watching it live from my home in Sydney, and when that last try was scored everyone in the room including my grandfather all just going crazy and in that moment we all agreed it was a moment of RL history that we'll never forget.

I like Ray Warren's choice of words when Thurston's kick bounced off of the upright: " @ the end of 80 minutes: "THIS IS A HORROR MOVIE!" Thurston redeemed himself with the drop goal that won the match. Superb Match!!!
I loved the pathos and excitement of it missing and then Hunt dropping on and the Broncs desperately trying to stop the drop goal and the Cowboys not panicking.
Absolutely fantastic game in so many ways. Of course, it helps I'm a Cowboys supporter, but it was incredible Rugby League in numerous ways.

Every time I watch this I realise how much of a choke player Ben Hunt is. Shocking tackle with 3:06 to go that gave away the penalty, and of course the knock in golden point
