  • Let’s talk about chrono 24 a online watch marketplace for new and preowned watches. I have heard horror stories about fake replica watches but here is my personal good experience with chrono 24

    I have used Chrono24 when I bought my Muhle Glashütte S.A.R and had a wonderful experience. I bought my watch from a professional seller out of Germany and the entire process was easy, safe, and practical. As with any platform there are bad entities, but if you do your homework this is an awesome platform.

    I bought an Omega Globemaster billed as box and papers but the “papers” was one blank unstamped card. That was a misrepresentation; not sure if the watch had been polished either. C24 released the funds to the seller the moment I signed for it so I did not have any opportunity to release the funds myself.

      Sorry to hear that. Papers can mean a lot of differnt things like receipt, warrentry card, or manual. This is the first time I have heard of papers being an unstamped card. It should have said that in the listing or I agree it is misleading max one could definitely fake those papers

    If it is a dealer Chrono24 will guarantee your purchase. I bought a Breitling Premier from Chrono24 and the deal was very easy.

    Chrono24 is not a scam. Individual dealers on Chrono24 might be.
    If the watch meets all your requirements, but the price is too high, make a counteroffer. If you counteroffer is declined, you are free to walk away and wait for the next one.
    I've had good experiences on Chrono24, but you have to be aware that asking prices are only asking prices.
    Oh, just remembered, one seller promised box and papers, at almost list price, but never sent the papers, even after an email discussion. So never never pay more than market price, even for an unusual piece.

      Great advice thanks for sharing. I had a good experience on there buying my Panerai. I would think with not sending the papers you probably could have gotten a refund but not the biggest deal ever if the price was right.

    I have bought & sold watches as a private individual on 8 occasions without any difficulty to date. My feelings on risk are that I have had definite attempts to scam me when I've been selling, none that I'm aware of when buying. It feels a safer place than eBay but I'm sure that there are some horror stories out there.

    • @WatchUnwind
      @WatchUnwind  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for sharing your accounts. What were these attempts when selling and how did you combat them? I may try to sell a few pieces on there

    • @tiffer67
      @tiffer67 Před rokem +3

      @@WatchUnwind The attempts have not been the most sophisticated. The starting point is receiving a message from a prospective buyer where they offer to make payment directly to your paypal & tell you to add an additional sum for shipping. The most recent message had an attachment of a photograph with their proposal hand written on a piece of paper. They clearly are aware of the email monitoring that Chrono24 has, which I assume can only pick up on words typed. Typing the proposal would automatically see the words redacted to the recipient. Paying full price without question & offering to voluntarily pay a higher than expected fee for shipping is a huge red flag that most people would recognise, hopefully.
      The secondary part of the scam is something of Paypal's making I'm led to believe. The buyer claims never to have received the item & makes a claim to Paypal, they are apparently taking their side in a huge percentage of cases. If you stick with the system, Chrono24's escrow process is a lot safer. I'm certainly doing my research just now to find the safest way for me to ship any watches I sell. I'm also taking a short video of me packaging the watch & a photograph of the package being handed to the courier/shipping provider. I'm also not prepared to sell outwith the borders of my own country.
      Chrono24 certainly offers an individual to get a better price than selling to a retailer or pawn shop but it's not without risk as scammers tend to be one step ahead with ever evolving ways of hoodwinking honest people.
      I did last year have an unsatisfactory experience with a seller. I paid to Chrono24 the money for a Rolex Oyster Perpetual & then experienced a few weeks of inactivity & no communication from the seller. To be fair to Chrono24, once I contacted them directly & spoke to the right person, they refunded the money to my account very quickly. I was very happy with the way they handled the issue.

    Why that title?? Chrono24 is a great resource for purchasing watches. They escrow the funds and verify ownership but do not guarantee authenticity. eBay does as watch first ships to their Authenticator. They verify listing and open up the watch for Authenticity of the movement etc.
    By the way, just because there is box and paper, it does not mean watch is authentic with all original parts.

    • @WatchUnwind
      @WatchUnwind  Před 22 dny

      The title is a play on a few other similarly tiled videos I do as it’s a directly searched term. I did find out this all now I know but I still think it’s a great place to buy from. I think most of the watches are authentic as here.
