My dealer laughed at me when I asked if I could get anywhere near MSRP for one of these. He said there would be a $20,000 minimum markup for all Bronco Raptors, and that he could sell them with absolutely no problem at that price all day long. Even if you do have unlimited funds at your disposal, there is no way this thing is worth $100,000. Seems they did a great job for everything but like you said when you open the hood, it’s not a beautiful thing to look at. A halo vehicle like this are for dudes who actually like popping the hood, workin on their trucks or just showin it all off but there’s literally nothing to show off under the hood cause it’s so messy and unorganized and not well thought out. The normal bronco is the same thing but I expected the raptor bronco to actually have an engine cover and look better underneath.

(Personal opinion from me, even though I’m employed under Ford) The way that Ford’s management is structured, I personally believe that “chief program engineers” who are in charge of a certain vehicle do not fully understand the vehicles they are responsible for. They know the basics of all the specs for different trims, but their main purpose is to make sure that manufacturing is in progress and not too far off track. As long as the vehicles roll off the lines without too many issues, they’ll be good. The only other thing they have to do is talk to journalists and media, and that’s it.

There's lots to hear when everyone has something to say. TFL at least shows us proof: we see the video of how vehicles handle challenges, we see when transmissions overheat, when tires slip (or pop), and the pain at the pump.
You know for a fact you had certain issues. If everything else was great, then researching if those issues have been resolved since or are found in other Ford engines is a good place to start. And ignore the "that car's trash" -end statement type folks. If they can't explain why, they probably don't know how to care for even the most foolproof engine.
CR is a great resource, but their reliability data is mostly based on consumers volunteering info. And we all know AT LEAST one person who calls a vehicle trash even though they never changed the oil or diff fluid, never removed road salt, don't know how to use a smart phone etc. You really have to dig (and only on the high volume models) to see specific issues and comments from consumers that they polled.

I have a 5.9L Magnum 1500. Tows good too. Very reliable. Ford had some issues with spark plugs and stripping out threads with their Triton V8's. Never was a problem with 80's and 90's Fords. I hear the new Coyote is very reliable, no spark plug thread issues. So what is best really depends on you selecting the appropriate vehicle of the right brand and year with as few problems as possible with the engine, transmission, and suspension. Electrical issues are also good to look at. No one likes solving electrical problems.

Ford disappointed my expectations in every way when they unveiled what was to be with their standard Bronco lineup. I then thought, hey let’s see what the do with the Raptor version, there is a chance for at least a v8 with that limited edition. Nope, again heard in 2021 another 6 cylinder with seemingly no consideration for what thousands of buyers are asking for. I gave up on Ford as an option period and bought a new 2021 Toyota Tundra TRD Sport 4x4 with the last of the 5.7 litre v8 engines in Jan 2022. While I have more confidence with Ford quality over Jeep, my recently graduated daughter wants a off-road capable convertible and I’m shopping Wrangler because dealers are not added premiums over MSRP like Ford dealers are for Broncos where I live and I know Jeep has a high resale history. My money was ready for a v8 Bronco and Ford continues to disappoint me and the family. Maybe we should ask some of the engineers who worked on the recent Mustang GT500 to join the Bronco Raptor development team, they managed a v8 there on the pony!

In fact, I had a debate with a close friend who owns a 2020 GMC 1/2 ton and my brother in law who owns a 2016 GMC 3/4 ton who chastised me for only about 5 mins before I proved to them that I paid $8000.00 less than comparable Ford and GMC 1/2 tons and we used MSRP found online using build and price on websites. 8 grand buys a lot of gas, lol!

No matter what you do with a eco boost it sounds like a some kind of motorcycle coming down the road. In my opinion if your spending this kind of money a mile or so per gallon if that between the eco boost and Coyote V8 is nothing, its all about the sound that beautiful rumble only a V8 can give you. that alone is worth half the price of the vehicle but I starting driving in the mid 70's so maybe that's just me.
