In today's van life episode, I found what I believe to be the best campsite in Europe! It’s called Camping Jungfrau in Lauterbrunnen. Switzerland. I drove a borrowed campervan (motorhome) through Switzerland. I've been wanting to visit there for years now, and it certainly didn't disappoint!
I used to hate campsites as I love wild camping / stealth camping. But when they can provide a park up like this, and a base point to explore. I'm all for them!

I used to work at that Lauterbrunnen campsite 20 years ago…. I say “work”, spent most of the time looking at the stunning scenery 😄 love it 🇨🇭

Top tip for that Lauterbrunnen campsite - You can park in the visitor car park outside for free if you've stayed on the campsite the night before Just ask reception for a visitor pass) .. Gives you another day to enjoy the stunning surroundings 🚐💨🇨🇭❤
+ If you do stay there I'd recommend the tram ride to 'The Top of Europe' - Jungfrau is well worth the £200ish that it is 👌🏻
+ I also camped in an un-insulated tent back in September 2018 there, it's cold - I do not recommend that 😂
It's our favourite country as well! We are heading there again in September!
The rows of ''trees'' you pointed out at the top of the hill are actually wooden fences at an angle, so when it snows in the winter the snow/ice attaches to the fences and stops avalanches.

I said the same when I drove the whole of Switzerland in 2018 haha, I also camped in Lauterbrunnen and it's incredible. I drove it again at the beginning of 2024 while touring Europe for 3 months in my Defender - Out of the 12 Boarders I crossed in that time, Lake Como, Austria and Switzerland were the most beautiful✨
Austria is definitely somewhere I need to visit soon! It’s another one that’s been on my list for a while
If you get a cable car from Lauterbrunnen you can visit a revolving James Bond restaurant called "Piz Gloria" - It's on top of a mountain called the Schilthorn. Would make an ace video. It was on the film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

Ah I wish I knew. Not planning has its advantages I think. But occasionally planning in advance could lead to seeing things like that!
@@Adz Yes - I'd be exactly the same BUT PLEASE visit it, check out the various CZcams footage. There is a 24 hour webcam up there I think. Also "Cercle" did a live concert up there, drone footage is amazing. It's a fair journey up there via 2x cable cars. There a town midway called Murren which is also great - traffic free so no Pidgeons allowed ;(
@adz if you were excited about pitch 007, you should have walked further up the valley, could have got a cable car to 3826 Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland aka Blowfelds mountain hideout, OHMSS.
Stunning place I’ve drove through that part of the world and every corner you drive around well just amazing

I went to Switzerland when I was 11 on a school trip. We went to some blue lakes, a glacier, and Piz Gloria, the revolving restaurant from the bond film. It's a lovely country with loads to see and brilliant walks.
I went to all those places at the same age on a school trip too.... Not with Clare Park Secondary , by any chance? 😁

I think the alps is my second favourite part of Europe, Norway just pips it for me but both places are gorgeous

Great video. I visit Lucerne every year with my Swiss wife and love Kapellbrücke or Chapel Bridge 🙂. Never been to the Pigeon restaurant though lol.

Stayed on both those campsites. Switzerland is stunning but extremely expensive. Im with you those corn dogs are disgusting.

@@Adz I don't know the depth but the flow rate at the Mellingen gauge upstream from Lucerne at time of posting is 164 cubic metres a second. By contrast the Thames at Kingston was only flowing 20.5 cubic metres per second. So 8 times the flow rate of the Thames at Kingston, even at the speed it was rushing past, is gonna be pretty deep. Alpine rivers just blow your mind with how much water is in them.
@misterthegeoff9767 that’s mad. But yeah when I was looking at the drone shots of how much water is coming down from all the waterfalls it’s not as surprising I suppose!
