In this episode of my vanlife adventures, I'm on my way to my next destination when I get tired and need to find a place to sleep for the night. Semi-retired van lifer here. I did this for about 2 years and can confirm, this lifestyle can be ROUGH. I had a shower and composting toilet in my van (not a gaming rig or a desk) so I had creature comforts and even then, the loneliness was brutal. You have to find and stay in a community and have a routine, otherwise, you'll crumble unless you're super introverted. That being said, I learned more about myself and about the world in those 2 years than I would have in decade. Not only was it worth it, I felt like I needed to do it to really find myself. I turned to van life because I felt like I was rotting from the inside out having lived in the same place for my entire life. Just one of many ways, albeit extreme, to pursue personal growth.
Dude is thankful before eating, and just a happy dude. You're living the dream man. I hope this channel supports you for a long time!

@@skinnerwelmmost likely because it takes a lot of adjusting to live in a vehicle especially if you’re like most and grew up in a home. You can never fully stretch out in more than one orientation, having to move constantly to different places just to sleep and never know if anyone will ask you to move on, not being able to shower/go to the bathroom traditionally and having to rely on yourself if you break down in remote locations are more than enough reasons for most people to not want to do it long term.
Also worth mentioning this is after you’ve likely spent at least 10,000 to have something closing in on the same stratosphere of what you see in this video.
Just the solar required to power everything that he has here is easily $5,000 if you buy everything new and name brand

As a dude, this is probably only the second case of van life I stumbled upon which made me want this… for a full month or so. With my old baby dog, I’d feel warm and cosy.
Keep doing what your doing man. Love watching your videos. Just survived my cancer treatment and your videos and seeing you on the road made me feel like I was with you and it was freeing when I couldn’t leave bed. Keep it up, living life on your terms being free and happy is all life is about 🙏

@@Pauchingo I live in Europe not in the US, the most basic brand new vans here cost at least the equivalent of $60,000 (at this price no oven, basic electrical installation) and the most expensive ones are around $200,000. 4000$ is the price of his electrical setup + starlink. I paid about $20,000 for mine and had $6,000 worth of modifications done. it is from 2004. Today the garage that made the modifications for me is ready to buy it for $30,000. Sure you can find some for $10,000 but they are wrecks or mediocre fittings.

When i was homeless living in a tent i have used an arizona tea can cut open and rolled out to make a griddle and used 90% isopropyl rubbing alcohol to cook spam one of the best fried spam i have ever had
I have nothing against this dude, he's probably the nicest person on earth, but I see people admiring this kind of lifestyle and I feel like dark times are ahead of us. This is what I would call a glorified, tech-savvy hippie. You can look at it however you want, you can feel "trapped" in your job or your life, but there is nothing romantic about being alone, and shitting in the woods.
It's the kind of life I would absolutely hate. Always moving from place to place, never settling down and feeling stable. He slept in his clothes that we was wearing all day. Where does he shower? What about going to the toilet? I love the way the van is kitted out. It's a beautiful aesthetic but I couldn't live that life. I would feel like a refugee.

But these same people applauding it now, and dreaming about doing the same, probably can't handle the reality of how the rest of the time living in a van looks like. Sadly, we can only hear and see through a video, we still can't smell or taste, yet.
Unfortunately there's going to be a lot of people like him, all they feel they need is the internet. This kind of Lifestyle actually caused a shit ton of money if you don't have any money. You have to pay for the gas and food but people think they can make money off of donations if you have enough followers you can but most people won't

I spent 18 months living in a conversion van traveling from Texas to Alaska to Mexico to NY. I spent many nights in Walmart Parking Lots. They 95% allow it but I did it stealth like most times because I wanted to be closer to the action! Yup if you think Walmart Shoppers are interesting inside the store you should see what they do in the parking lot.
I’ve eaten rotisserie chicken with my niece in her car there once so I can only imagine 😂

To wash dishes without running water: 2 spray bottles! One with soapy water (just a little soap) and one with clean water. You'll be amazed at how little water you use.
He could always use disposable paper bowls and plates...forks knives and spoons.

I recently became homeless and started living out of my mobile mechanic van. I gave up the biz, got a job as a mechanic and started living out of my van, and I regret nothing. I’m in a 2014 town and country it’s small but it’s enough for my needs with an rca cable setup and a dvd player for movies and snes games. At first I thought I was screwed about after the first week, I’m ok with it, I go the Cabela’s parking lot most the time because people camp there every day!

I think it's both a testament to the times we live in and also what a lot of hard work and a bit of talent can do for you. People crave an escape from the monotony of the every day grind that society has become more than ever. And it shows he can support that lifestyle because plenty of people are willing to donate the cause for a chance to at the very least live vicariously through him in that beautiful world of freedom detatched from the chains of corporate overlords.

I live a couple hours from Travelers Rest. Beautiful little town. Make sure you never give Millie treats with rawhide. They can't digest it, so it just sits inside their belly slowly rotten, which can make them pretty sick. If you're still in North Carolina, there's a little town called Chimney Rock. At the park you can hike up the mountain. Lots of steps, though, but it's beautiful.

Most cities have a pay by the hour workshop that you may be able to pull your van into and get your pump fixed... Ive used them on road trips before to swap out a wheel bearing and get a windshield replaced...

Hey man try this mixture of essential oils, oregano oil, ginger oil, eucalyptus oil, one drop each in a bowl of hot water is fine. Then inhale the steam and cough a lot doing it, be sure to do it very slow through nose and mouth breathing because its very strong! Do it around 5 minutes to start, I bet you'll be feeling better in a day or two.

My experience is the ones who demand the most perfection are themselves the worst people you could ever entrust your life to. It's very similar to getting into debt. You brake your back while she just games the double standard. The kind of woman you want is one who has morals and doesn't want to play the dating chase. Someone who you could easily become friends with and you are both secure around eachother and it feels easy and good. If you have to do all kinds of things to impress her you might as well clap the irons on your wrist now. Pray she rejects you for your own sake just run as fast as you can before she snags you. I no longer feel lonely cause I know what's out there now.
If you’re back in SC anytime soon, check out Lake Keowee, Hartwell, or Jocassee. Great spots around them to pull off an relax, also great fishing as well along with the mountains such as Table Rock, Sassafras( Which is the highest mountain in the state).

Alaska is an awesome place for vanlife. Every other vehicle there I saw was a van/rv. Plenty of cool places to camp out at.
