    Just a little tip:
    When you use ink/sharpies start drawing from left to right (opposite if you are left handed) so you don't risk going over it with your hand causing ink smudges.

    Don't know why but this reminds me of the concept or truth that:
    From the inside, we all have our own flaws, but on the outside many of us want to and always show themselves to be perfect.. just how here, behind there were even some smudges outside the lines or something but on the main side, the picture was coming out perfect..
    Anyways, it was amazing!

    I have a couple questions, anybody who’s done this before can answer!
    1. Can you paint over the lines?
    2. How would you get an inverted photo?
    3. If the character had more detailed eyes, is there a different/specific way to do it?

    • @minjoonie
      @minjoonie  Před 3 lety +121

      1. Yessss! Just be careful because if you put a lot of pressure while painting or if the paint is too watery it can smudge the lines
      2. I use pages on mac to invert my photo, you can put a regular photo and invert in any thing like google docs or wherever you plan to print the photo. There should be an option to invert the image just like how there is to crop
      3. Got colored eyes or if the center has multiple colors do the small white highlight first, then the next color bordering the white such as black, blue, etc, then every color after. Kind of like a ripple. Then do the background of the eye like white

    Question:
    If we scrape the paint off wouldn't it leave a mark in the glass??
    And
    What paint is best for glass painting??
    I was thinking acrylic.

    • @minjoonie
      @minjoonie  Před 3 lety

      1. acrylic is what is most used and works best in my opinion! I also know people use enamel paint.
      2. Even though the exact knife I use is sharp, it does not leave scratch marks or anything for me! You don't have to put a lot of pressure to scrape, so I think that is why. If you are afraid of damaging or leave a mark on the glass I would suggest using a toothpick.
      I'm making a video soon answering glass painting questions !

    A few questions before I start:
    Do you have to use oil based sharpies?
    Is there a specific kind of paint you need to use?
    And not a question, but I’ll be the 700th comment!

      Hey there! Just by watching other videos, I found out that an oil based sharpie helps for opacity, meaning it’ll show a more darker black color compared to sharpie. From the few videos I’ve watched, I don’t see that an oil based sharpie is commonly used. Instead, artists will just use sharpie, paint pens, or a pen called “sakura identi pen”.
      I have yet done a glass painting myself, but plan to experiment with a paint pen first. And as far as paint goes, it’s best to find acrylic paint with a thick consistency or that is not watery. Watery/runny consistency paint can cause for your outline to smudge/smear and show as incredibly sheer/streaky on the other side of the glass where the art should look clean and neat. I’m not sure brand-wise, which paints may be better than others, but I was gonna start with just basic acrylic paints, like Craft Smart or Apple Barrel.
      I hope this helps some! Again, I haven’t done a glass painting myself, but this is what I was able to gather from some other videos:) I’d recommend watching “gazoo studio”. Those videos are aesthetically entertaining to watch 😄

    Using an oil pen just makes so much sense. I’ve been trying this but I keep using acrylic pens, and I keep wondering why they always smudge when I start adding more paint. God that’s so smart

      Yes ! And if you want even more protection then after your line art you can coat it lightly with mod podge, let it dry, and then paint

    I have a few questions if anyone can answer them please.
    1. How do you print out that big of a picture
    2. When you go over the eyes with white sharpie then go over with white paint what does that do
    3. Does specific paints work for this

    • @ezziesdiary
      @ezziesdiary Před 3 lety

      1. literally just make the picture bigger on excel (and remember to invert the photo)
      2. it makes it opaque so the light won’t go through.
      3. anything but water colour (or any paint that’s not thick enough or the colours aren’t solid enough) best to use acrylic paint
