@@bacalalyka I accidentally spilled paint on it and the sharpie smudged really badly, so I have to restart ;-; Imma try again, but with a better marker (and no paint spills!)
To add to #6: I have found that it's much easier to see what you're doing to print the lineart reference in a lighter/brighter shade than the lineart itself. I like to print mine in a light blue so I can see the black outlines better. I tried it with black lineart for a reference and I eventually got visually confused of which lines I had already done and where to aim my brush, so I had to switch to something to tell them apart. Maybe I'm the only one who has ever had such a problem, but I figured I'd suggest this just in case it helps orhers.
extra tip on the double coating outlines: you can also go over the marker outline with black paint to make sure it doesn't pass through that much too : )
Best part about acrylic on glass is... if you have a scrap painting all you have to do is add water and the acrylics will come off. I have a glass pallet which I find ironic now that I am thinking about trying the glass painting.
my markers are translucent and u can literally see the lighter paints going through it lol. So under this circumstance, I draw another outline in the front so it could look more opaque 🤣(this isn't illegal right?)
HAHAHAHAHA i actually thought of doing this before! It is indeed smart, only thing is you would need to be careful when you start cleaning or touching the other side too basically. So yeaaa it's doable I guess 🤣🤣🤣
I’m so excited because I’m almost done with my first glass painting of Saiki K. I’m done painting and I just need to touch up some lines. It looks sick! I’m planning on making one for my bestie who got me into anime a few years ago 😊 thanks for the tips!
my best friend gave me a kirishima glass painting and i love it sm, i’m trying to make one for my older brother because it’s his birthday soon so i really wanna get it right the first time 😬
The last tip is so so smart because I felt like I couldn’t take a break as the paint would dry on my palette😭 idk why I didn’t think of storing it in containers, that way I can also reuse the skin colours I mixed up. (why do I struggle so much mixing skin colour lmao) also unrelated but her side profile is so pretty omg??
The first time I did glass painting I drew the outline on the front instead of the back ! It's cool because it didn't mix with the paint, but because it's a few milimeters in front of the paint, depending on the point of view, you can see the paint of the other side of the line... So next time I'm gonna do the outline on the back, with the paint, hoping that they won't mix together.
Tip if you are using a paint palette similar to the white one she showed. Cover it tightly with foil or saran wrap and make sure it's flattened over the top of the pallet to cover the wells. This will keep the pain usable for another few hours minimum. I've saved paint til the next day using this method. Store in a cool place.
But to be clear, paint puts are better for storing larger amounts of paint for longer. This to is just in case you had already started with a palette out couldn't find the pots
Most recommended, yes! It basically helps prevent smudging and it will help build the opacity. Refer to tip 8 for a quick tip (6:41) that may help! ☺️🙌🏼
Yesss I did some Photo to 2D glass paintings as well you could check it out on my IG (@artbylycala). It's basically the same steps but you would just need to create your own reference! Hope it all goes well ☺️

one question tho, when u start glass painting, does it take a lot of time to figure out your marker tho? i bought a lot of marker and some of them are too thick kskskdjsk
I was pretty lucky to figure it out early, at first I just used a regular sharpie and immediately thought this isn't gonna work in the long run, I need to find a paint in a form of a pen, and I never thought there is indeed something like that! 😂 Although here is still a trick I personally do to know if a pen will work: 1. Draw something small on glass (anything really ex: smiley face, flower, etc) then wait for it to dry out. 2. Grab a flat brush and paint on it (swiping strokes) I would say about 5-10 times with light to medium hand pressure. 3. If it doesn't budge or fade much it should most likely be fine to use. Although once you start actually painting, use a lighter hand pressure or dab the paint instead + You could also try and fix the thickness by scraping parts with x-actos and toothpicks Hope this helps 🤎
Hello, sorry for the late reply but I'm glad it helped! Did you end up buying a paint pen or tried something else? I'm curious! Also, thank you for that last part ILY 😭🤎

great video!!! thank u a lot... but I have one more question and I don't really know how to fix my problem, but the thing is... when I'm painting I look to the other side of the glass and it looks really good but once the paint dries.. I see a lot of bubbles... I was wondering if you know why that happens or how can I fix or avoid those bubbles such beauty works.... Thanks again!!
Hello! Sorry for the very late reply, but personally, I find that creating a thin dry layer before dabbing paint helps, also making sure the consistency of your paint is not too watery but a little thick 👍🏼
wow thank you for this video! i just made a glass painting and it didn't really turn out the way i wanted it to. I have learned a lot from this video and i hope my next glass painting will turn out better! thank you very much!

I should’ve done some deeper research before starting mine... I just finished it, and even though I did the reverse painting and color matching fairly well, I did NOT double coat my oil-based paint pen trace at the start. I figured one was enough and I was wrong! Then with more and more paint being piled onto those outlines, they started getting eaten away basically. It’s not so sharp anymore and it makes me upset because it’s a gift for my boyfriend, but it’s still a pretty good image for a first attempt! I’ll have to try again in the future-thank you for these helpful tips!
I started glass painting about a month ago and i completely agree with ya. First ya think "thats pretty simple" then its like "damn this aint easy". My first one was marvels loki and it took a good 6 hours to do.

For the first tip I think its both quality and quantity because I used a dollar store paint that she showed in the video and all of the paint cracked on the glass painting so I thought it was the glass so I washed it before I used it again but it still cracked so I used a different glass but didn't wash it but it still cracked so I used a different paint and it worked soo well (:
Oh no sorry about that... Idk why but the dollar store paints do work alright for me and for most glass artists too, it could be a case of a defective item too I’m guessing? Another tip I have is for you to mix the expensive & cheap one together, I find that it could give you that nice quality + quantity balance! If you’re interested, I also have another video on how to avoid smudges, cracks & bubbles on anime glass paintings!
Hey there! I really loved the video and the tips where great too, thank you 😊! I am doing anime glass art too and for outlineing I am using an oil based permanent marker. And for those who can't afford a paint marker ( in my country it's super ecpensive ) you can use an oil based permanent marker just make sure you do several coats until it's all clear. ( at least this method worked for me ). And again thank you very much for the great tips!😁

Thanks!! Hi from Brazil =D
Omg wow my video reached there! Thank you so much for watching as well 🤎🙌🏼
For the first tip I think its both quality and quantity because I used a dollar store paint that she showed in the video and all of the paint cracked on the glass painting so I thought it was the glass so I washed it before I used it again but it still cracked so I used a different glass but didn't wash it but it still cracked so I used a different paint and it worked soo well (:
Oh no sorry about that... Idk why but the dollar store paints do work alright for me and for most glass artists too, it could be a case of a defective item too I’m guessing? Another tip I have is for you to mix the expensive & cheap one together, I find that it could give you that nice quality + quantity balance!
If you’re interested, I also have another video on how to avoid smudges, cracks & bubbles on anime glass paintings!

AHHH THANK U FOR THIS :3 I saw this on TikTok- and I wanted to learn how lol
Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it 🤎
