When this kind of music was popular, I was under a church pastor who adamantly told us that "Some Christian music isn't really Christian."
But the truth is, while the music moves you, it's the lyrics that move you even more. The lyrics are definitely Spirit inspired and they definitely inspire your spirit.

I think of it like this: when music moves you in the holy spirit, it doesn't matter what kind of music it is. It can't be from Satan. His motive is to weaken followers of God, but good Christian rock strengthens people's spirits. Satan can't be behind music that glorifies God; it goes against him.
But I still agree with that pastor, just cause I feel like a lot of 'Christian' bands might be mediocre and are more for the attention rather than to spread the love of God. But that's just how I think.
Someone needs to tell that Pastor that this is Christian music.I believe these lyrics are Spirit-lead and to speak against this is wrong.Just because someone does not like the music part does not mean it isn't Christian.These brothers are very talented and Spirit-lead,Be careful what you are critical of,these people are music Minister's.
And some pastors don't know Christ.
@@meenadaae I can honestly say I can compare Petra to Casting Crowns as far as quality of music is concerned. Petra Like Casting Crowns definitely had the spirit with them
This whole album is wonderful.Greg singing and Bob writing songs was always a winning team.
Agreed! I always felt that this album, with "Second Wind" in particular, was some of Petra's most solid "Rock" recordings. Pun intended..lol.
I used to listen to this tune before running cross country races back in high school. It pumped me up. Great stuff.

I needed a second wind, as I am writing my dissertation. I remembered this song from when I was a teenager, so I searched CZcams, and voila! So happy and encouraged.

Grew up on this. In a band today because of this generation. Petra, stryper and audio adrenaline etc. These guys kind of remind me of foreigner.
Im a christian and a gamer and this song kinda reminds me of a Megaman x song. This song is really good I love Petra and I Love GOD EVEN MORE.
The Greg X Volz period was amazing. All these albums are just killer man. The detail in them, the layers, the sprinkles of sound throughout the verses, and the overall structures and catchy hooks in both melody and instrumentation, amazing! I know they are a mega band in christian circles, and therefore limited-- but had they chosen, they could have rivaled any band in the circular market.

What a splendid、 Holy Spirit-filled album!!
My childhood was rough...my mom acted out being religious and burned all the secular music in our household( she listened to too much Bob Larson) Thank God I had Petra, Rez Band and Daniel Band!!!! And later Barnabus, Stryper, Bloodgood and Barren Cross!!!! They all have the word of God in their music...I got fed through music.

Three years late, but I've always been a rocker at heart, and a church musician since I was a kid. When I became worship leader for the contemporary service at our Baptist church, I was given a book by Bob Larson from the traditional worship leader who thought rock music was evil and had no place in the church. So I sympathize, man.

song literally just popped into my head....I was just 9 yrs old when this came out and raised in fundamentalist, legalistic 'Christian' household (all rules/no relationship)...Definitely woud NOT have been allowed to listen to this 'heathen' type music...Amy Grant's 'Unguarded' cassette was considered 'radical' when I received it for Christmas 3 yrs later...sad I missed this in it's heyday...so good! wasn't until about a decade later, when in college, I allowed myself to listen to Petra...lol....loved them ever since

This is the first Petra album I ever heard and I still think it's their best. Regardless, they had a string of five or six straight awesome albums starting with this one.
This song was instrumental in my decision for Christ.
@WilkinBrattle I'm much older now than I was when I first heard Petra. I ,too, was Spiritually influenced by this and many of their other songs to a much deeper faith in Jesus Christ and what it meant to me to make a stand in & for His Name. May God Bless.

Sorry, that is spelled PETRA.
They r too busy playing watered down Christian pop/ worship music to be more ( relevant) . They seem to not think that scripture based Christian rock is relevant anymore.
They swiched to A worship format no Rock
