    When I heard about the client left with the stylist's baby, I was like, "Nah, dog, I'll do my own hair!"

    Beautician have been awful for a while. It’s not just new ones. Horror stories of beauticians sneaking relaxers, overprocessing cutting hair too short due to blatant jealousy etc. has always been a thing. We’ve heard the stories for years.
    Finding a good beautician has always been a challenge and a true blessing when you find one.

    I moved from California to Nevada eighteen months ago, leaving behind my old school stylist of twenty-five years. What do I do now? I drive to California twice a year for a trim and the rest of the time I DO MY OWN HAIR!!

      Or you can just learn to braid yourself

  • @acmdu89
    @acmdu89 Před měsícem +9

    Braiders were not taught how to wash hair huh? Then maybe you should have to get a cosmetology certificate then. I am an old school client. I stopped going to hairdressers and started doing my own natural hair. I now have microlocs and have to go to a Loctician who is never F*****g on time and double books.

    HERE IS THE THING. AS A STYLIST, YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO WASH. CONDITION, BLOW DRY AND DETANGLE HAIR PROPERLY. CLIENTS MAY WANT THAT SERVICE ADDED ON TO THEIR BRAID STYLE. IF SO, A STYLIST HAS THE RIGHT TO CHARGE EXTRA IF THE PRICE GIVEN WAS JUST TO BRAID THE HAIR. IF THE CLIENTS HAIR IS LONG AND VERY THICK, THE STYLIST HAS THE RIGHT TO CHARGE MORE ACCORDING TO THE LENGTH AND THICKNESS AS IT WILL REQUIRE MORE TIME AND EFFORT. MOST OF ALL, BE PROFESSIONAL AT ALL TIMES. IF YOUR CLIENT DOES NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO VIDEO /PHOTOGRAPH HER RESPECT THAT. IF THE STYLIST DOES NOT WANT YOU TO VIDEO/PHOTOGRAPH EVERY STEP BY STEP PROCESS OF HER BRAIDING YOUR HAIR, PLEASE AS A HAIR STYLIST, RESPECT THAT.

    This is why I learned how to do my own braids. I grew up doing my own hair so that’s not a problem. I just didn’t know how to add extensions to my hair. I bought a mannequin head and some cheap hair and went to YT University. I still can’t do certain styles (feed-ins mainly but I’m learning!) so I do what I know how to do and I continue to work on it! It’s easier than dealing with these ridiculous stylists nowadays. I’m 44. I grew up with old school beauticians. They didn’t call themselves stylists because they cared for your hair and kept it healthy. A stylist is just that: they know how to style your hair and that’s about it. They don’t care for your hair!!! My hair is healthy and long because I learned how to properly care for and style it!!!

    Here is the thing a braider dose not wash hair they never have. I go to a salon to get braids. I know to wash and blow out my hair before I go. This woman has been doing my hair for 12 to 13 years now. However, if you are going to a stylist then they need to do the full service.

    That’s what y’all get for going to hustlers instead of professionals.
    Why do you think it’s called a hustle ? Because it’s purpose is to make a lot of money quickly. There is no honour in hustling.
    They’re thieves and scammers.
    That’s why I hate the idea of the hustling mentality. I want to be a professional not a hustler.
    P.S sorry I said “That’s what y’all get” but lowkey I’m right because at least if their services were cheap I’d understand why y’all went, but y’all dropping rents on these scammers. Ladies get up.
