      SwollenCranium No, he is not the inventor. The history of rotorcraft began with the gyroplane on January 9 th, 1923. On that day, the inventor of the gyroplane, Juan de la Cierva,
      flew his "auto gyro"

      That is correct......Juan de la Cierva from Spain, He was the 1st one, and maybe 20 years later Helicopters.
