The one who thought no one would hear any of his songs, now has disappeared when the whole world listens and plays all his songs.
@@Whn1794 It‘s sad to think that he wouldn’t know…he wrote so many beautiful songs. Thankfully, we can hear him through his recordings and yes, through the many renditions which keep the work alive. Connecting Nick to Elizabethan music roots him deeply in a tradition of great songwriting.
Today has been a wonderful day. I was in a coffee shop and I heard Pink Moon come over the speakers. I was elated as this was a favorite song of mine when I was growing up. I had my first kiss to this song. I come home and I search for this song on youtube and what do I find, this most amazing cover. I was so deeply and profoundly moved. A wonderful flood of emotions came rushing over me. I have now danced to this song 3 times. Once with each of my children and finally with my wife. Thank you. You have a fan for life.
How wonderful! Is it not amazing how a song heard long ago can repeat and resonate with us a long time after? For that song to be one by Nick Drake is, I think, especially lucky!
first kiss under a pink moon is sweet karma.
this is such a touching comment. thank you for making my evening a little brighter.
@@eartherdelor I agree… Joel
Beautiful!
I knew Nick many many years ago.I can tell you he would have loved these versions. It would have touched him.
Thank you very much. We had the privelege of meeting Gabrielle, Nick's sister, when we played in Shrewsbury. The thought that you also knew Nick and have taken the time to relay your thoughts touches me, as well! Joel
Thanks Joel
I like to imagine that Nick would have thoroughly enjoyed this rendition of his song :) very well done!
Thank you very much. I sincerely hope that he is enjoying it, wherever he is!
With the help of Heartbeat (tv series) Nick Drake is finally getting recognition
@@aggisdemetri I don’t know the series, but will look it up! Thank you.
I keep listening to your album, it is breathtaking and you are really serving Nick Drake well. All the best from Holland..
Thank you, Ronald! It is a pleasure to keep coming back to this program and to hear from people who are touched by the CD.
Oh this is amazing! I wonder what Nick would think of his fame? Still going strong. Forever on the road, across the river Styx. Nick Drake stares at northern lights, with only five leaves left. Rip Nick
@@saxoncrow2500 Interesting that you mention the river Styx, as I prepare to sing Caronte (the boatman across the river Styx) in Monteverdi’s seminal opera, Orfeo. The power of music and connections…that is what this program is about. Connecting Nick with the music of the Renaissance English lute-song composers suggests also the timelessness of its appeal. Why not? It can still go strong, for hundreds of years, as far as I am concerned…. Joel
Wake up and play this in the morning, brilliant
@@mertzrooferThank you….
Well done! 👍 I thoroughly enjoyed yor harmonies
Thank you! We want people to hear and to feel it….
Mind blowing
@@willgiam3231 🤗
wonderful interpretation of a musican, that for people of his generation is still unforgotten, though the time given to him was so short. excellent, i am very exited to listen to mr. frederiksen´s work!!
I've been enjoying this album for quite a long time and every time I am surprised by the way the superb songs of Nick Drake are transformed in what seem to be songs from centuries ago. I hope they will last for years to come.
Dear Chris, Thank you for letting us know! It remains a very special program....
Nick was a poet.
@@madeleine7411 Yes, he was!
I Love Pink Moon ....Nike Drak é especial demais!!! ♡♡♥♥
Awesome performance!
Bravo ♥️☮️👏👏👏
This is how I think these songs should be covered, by providing new life to his everlasting songs (although we all know the main thing is to let your emotions flow while you're playing Nick).
Anyway greetings from Italy
Great to hear from you! Thank you. Greetings from Munich.
What a great video, definitely you achived the goal of making people feel deep emotions. Thank you!

Stefan

@@willy1957 Thank you!

Das passt ja wirklich sehr gut!!
Danke sehr! Vielleicht schaffen Sie ein Konzert (wieder) Live zu erleben! www.joelfrederiksen.com
Wow that is so good this deserves far more attention!
Lovely version of Nick's songs, well done
I simply can NOT get enough! LOVE your music, I cant thank each of you enough! Do you ever perform in the USA? Happy Holidays to each of you and thank you all again!
Thank you! I will be in Chicago and Kansas City, MO, in January 2018, but with something quite different: The Play of Daniel (a medieval musical drama) with the Boston Camerata where I sing the role of King Darius. www.joelfrederiksen.com You can "like" me and Ensemble Phoenix Munich on Facebook to get current info or look at our Websites from time to time.
Thank you so much we will be looking, love to attend! Marry Christmas to you and yours sir and thanks for taking the time to reply!

Super ! Dire que les basse-barytons baroqueux veulent tous devenir contre-ténor. Voilà un magnifique exemple qu'avec une très belle voix de basse et le même genre d'effectif, on peut faire des choses intéressantes et rafraichissantes pour les oreilles.
Was this performance ever released as a DVD?
Thanks, Tim. No, there is no DVD! Hope you enjoy the little bits we have posted around. Guess you've probably seen our introduction to the project: czcams.com/video/Z5b2Cc4rvNg/video.html
Yeahh cool.
OMG! 2 die 4! awesome!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!! what are those instruments???? OMG!!!!
Thank you! The most unusual looking instrument is probably the theorbo, a lute with two necks. The other is a Renaissance lute and a Viola da Gamba. If you look for a few more of our videos you will see more (Joel Frederiksen or Ensemble Phoenix Munich). And please subscribe to our channel!
I sincerely appreciate your reply sir! I love learning new things and you have turned me on to new (for me) music! I truly love your work sir. Thank you again so much! God Bless
Fablissimo...
