I just realized they totally tricked me with this title. Looked up some info on Oppenheimer cause of the recent movie, this popped up and I thought "oh this ought to be funny", watched the whole thing, and it wasn't until the end that I realized that he never talked about Oppenheimer once, and they only threw that into the title cause of the movies popularity lmao

When my husband and I were stationed in Japan in 1990 a very old Japanese man came up to him and thanks him profusely for dropping the bomb. My husband looked very confused and asked why would you thank me for something so horrible. The old man said that he had already lost two son's in the war and by dropping the bomb and ending the war, we saved his last son's life. Talk about an odd twist of reality. This man was grateful for some so awful.

I love dogs more than I could ever love a human, but even for me that's going a bit too far. I mean, you don't even get life in prison for abandoning a baby (unless it dies in the process). Obviously crimes against humans have to be punished far more severely than crimes against animals, otherwise it would make a mockery of society. Having said that, I do agree that the penalty for abandoning a dog should be way more severe than it is, not least involving a rule that the person doing it should never be allowed to own a live animal ever again as well as a huge fine.

The Sovjet declaration of war to the Japanese had at least the same Impact as Fat Man & Little Boy. Actually dropping the nukes had (beides radiation & fallout) the same effect as mayor raids (like Dresden, Germany).

Also not often discussed is that the number of potential casualties in a ground war between the Japanese, Americans and Russians (yes the Russians were involved) is estimated to have been as much as 32 million. The Japanese mindset was to never surrender and fight to the last.
Nearly half of the civilian casualties on Okinawa were from suicide to prevent capture. 94,000 Japanese and 12,000 American soldiers died in that conflict alone. As horrific a incident as was the atomic bombing of Japan because of their mindset at the time as hard as it may be to want to believe the a-bomb actually saved many many more lives than it took...

Actually that definition of science is wrong. It proves nothing. What it does, is give us the best possible explanations of the natural world until new information is discovered or understood. Science changes as we find more understanding about a certain subject or discipline.
