if you mean the thing that they drop, they're drop tanks. they hold additional fuel and are dropped when they are empty, kinda like solid rocket boosters. they where really useful in wartime when the pilots had to fly incredibly long distances, and its probably the same in strange real. im willing to bet that the only reason the LRSSG didn't use them after trigger joined in ace combat 7 is because they had mid flight refuelling instead
