Join me as I choose and assemble my New "Old School" stereo system. With a Bluesound Node, KLH model 3 speakers and a Cambridge Audio AXR100 Receiver.
My Sonos playbar and surround speakers Sold! I'm just an old many buying cheap audio gear.

I have the KLH Model 5 (Mahogany) and love them. The Model 3 are very nice! I run mine with a Rega Brio amp, Hegel phon preamp, and Music Hall 9.3 turntable. (Pure analogue for my vinyl collection) Your set-up is pretty good! It's not always the cash expenditure, but a well thought out system that matters.

What kind of music do you listen to? Rock, Metal, Jazz, Classical or whatever? I grew up in the 60s and so Beatles, Stones Animals, etc. But mostly I listen to classical music. Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler, etc. I'm going to do what you just did and so I'm looking forward to see how your setup works out. So many choices these days that it makes your head spin. Back in the day it was so much simpler. Go into the listening room. Listen to all the speaker & receiver combos and then make the purchase. I'll be looking for the follow up video and thanks for being here.
I like everything, Jazz, Rock, Classic country and classical. I'm going to maybe work on a video tomorrow. Another guy left a comment on where I went wrong with some of my choices, he seems like he knows a lot. I'm not changing anything yet. Stay tuned. I was hoping to get more views before I did a follow up. CZcams is hard these days.
If I were you sir I think I would get the Wiim Mini or Wiim Pro instead of the bluesound node. They are about half the price of the node.
That would give you possibly $200 more for an amplifier ID you choose. If you want a better internal DAC get a wiim pro+. If yiu want to get a seperate DAC down the road just stick work the basic version.
Wiim is a new Chinese direct to consumer company and they have become really popular. At the moment the software is probably not quite as good as Bluesound (yet) but I think with the larger consumer base I can see them getting a lot better.
Even now the app is not bad at all in my opinion.
I've had Onkyo, Pioneer, and other various brands over the years. I still own a nice high-end old-school Carver system with a separate power amp and tuner with Klipsh speakers. I also have a separate RCA Home Theater 5.1 surround system that rocks the house. You can't beat old school, but the new technology with Bluetooth and other connective ways is incredible for options in today's world. Sadly for me, I lost all my albums in a flood during a power loss in the home we live in now when we first moved in. My entire collection gone in LP's, over 40 years in that collection from a flooded basement. Lived in the house for less than a month. Enjoy the sound of what you bought. We are getting older, and it's time for us to enjoy life.
Sorry to hear what happened to your vinyl collection. I am still debating if I want to get back into records. They sure sound good though. I am getting old and try to find things to keep my mind going. Thanks for watching my video and leaving your thoughtful comments.
